Abstract

The use of podcasts in Islamic Religious Education remains minimal, especially at the junior high school level. Many children find learning with infrequently changing media boring. Most Islamic Religious Education teachers still rely on the lecture method as their primary approach, with limited and less varied use of learning media. This situation has implications for low student engagement and interest in learning, particularly because Islamic Religious Education material is often perceived as abstract and overly theoretical. The purpose of this study was to determine how the use of podcasts as a learning medium impacts students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at SMP Negeri 1 Sitinjo and their ability to communicate. This study employed a quantitative methodology and a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. Two classes participated in this design: an experimental class using podcasts and a control class using conventional methods. The questionnaires on learning outcomes and communication skills of the study were tested for validity and credibility. To analyze the data, MANOVA, ANCOVA, and independent t-tests were used, and SPSS was used. The results showed that podcasts significantly influenced students' learning outcomes and communication skills, with a partial eta squared value of 0.564. Therefore, podcasts are considered an innovative learning option that encourages active student participation, improves material understanding, and enhances their communication skills in Islamic Religious Education learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of character education and the school literacy program on students’ Islamic Education (PAI) learning outcomes at SDN 102128 Nagaraja. Employing a quantitative ex post facto design, the research involved a saturated sample of 85 students, with data collected through validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaires and documentation of academic scores. Data analysis included classical assumption tests and multiple linear regression using SPSS 25. The findings show that both character education and the school literacy program have a positive and significant partial effect on PAI learning outcomes, as indicated by the t-test results (t = 4.676 for character education; t = 8.268 for school literacy, both > t-table = 2.002). Simultaneously, the two variables strongly influence learning outcomes, demonstrated by an F-value of 726.549 (Sig. = 0.000), confirming the acceptance of all alternative hypotheses. The regression model (Y = 27.810 + 0.550X₁ + 0.987X₂) shows that literacy contributes the largest effect, although character education also plays an important role in shaping students’ academic performance. These results are reinforced by behavioral rubric data showing that more than 90% of students demonstrate consistent or frequent positive character traits, indicating successful internalization of character values. The study implies that strengthening literacy practices and character-building programs is essential for enhancing students’ academic achievement, particularly in religious education. It further highlights the importance of integrated school policies that combine cognitive, moral, and literacy development to support holistic learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the role of the habit of afternoon dhikr (recitation of God) and teacher role models in developing students' Islamic character at Satit Phatnawitya Demonstration School, Yala, Southern Thailand. This research is motivated by the importance of strengthening Islamic character education amidst the challenges of globalization, particularly in the context of Islamic schools located in Muslim-minority areas. This study uses a descriptive method combined with a qualitative approach. Data collection included analysis of school religious program documentation, interviews with Islamic Education teachers, dhikr activity instructors, and students, and direct observation of the afternoon dhikr program. Using triangulation of sources and methods to ensure data accuracy, data analysis was conducted thematically through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion formulation. The results of this study indicate that the development of students' Islamic character is significantly facilitated by the regular, systematic, and consistent practice of afternoon dhikr, which is encouraged by teacher role models. These values include religiousness, self-control, emotional calm, sincerity, patience, and responsibility. Besides being a religious practice, dhikr is a spiritual teaching tool that helps improve students' psychological stability, emotional regulation, and self-awareness.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the process of designing instructional materials, implementing differentiated teaching strategies, and assessment in Islamic Religious Education. The study falls under the category of qualitative field research, focusing on investigating and describing the conditions or phenomena that occur in the field without manipulating variables. In this context, a descriptive approach is used to illustrate the processes of differentiated learning in the subject of Islamic Religious Education. The research was conducted during the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year in February 2024. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis involved data collection, reduction, display, and drawing/verifying conclusions. The findings indicate that differentiated learning in the independent curriculum for Islamic Religious Education at SD Negeri 106190 Kota Pari Pantai Cermin has been implemented successfully in accordance with the steps of differentiated learning. Firstly, teachers conducted Cognitive and Non-Cognitive Diagnostic Assessments to determine the readiness for learning as well as the interests, talents, and learning styles of each student. Secondly, teachers designed teaching modules tailored to the initial assessment results. Thirdly, teachers implemented differentiated teaching strategies through content, process, and product differentiation. Fourthly, teachers evaluated and reflected on the learning process. Through this differentiated learning approach, students become more active, creative, and innovative, finding learning more enjoyable. This helps to increase students' interest in learning, particularly in Islamic Religious Education, and assists them in becoming independent learners who appreciate diversity.
