Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine (1) the description of student decisions in choosing online studies at UPBJJ UT Jambi, and (2) the factors that influence student decisions in choosing online studies at UPBJJ UT Jambi. The results showed that (1) the student's decision variable in choosing online studies was in the high category with an average of 4.29 and the Respondent Achievement Level (TCR) of 85.81, (2) There were 6 (six) dominant factors that influenced the decision. students in choosing online studies, namely (a) Factor 1 which is given the identity of the Motivation, which consists of statement items F8, F9, F10, F11, and F12, (b) Factor 2 which is given the identity of the Reference Group, which consists of statement items F19 , F20, and F21, (c) Factor 3 which is given the identity of Belief and Attitude, which consists of statement items F4, F16, F17, and F18, (d) Factor 4 which is given the identity of Economic State, which consists of statement items F3, F5, and F6, (e) Factor 5 which is given the identity of Perception, which consists of statement items F14, F15, and F26, and (f) Factor 6 which is assigned the identity of Role and Status, which consists of statement items F23, F24, and F25.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the skills that have to be mastered by students in learning English. Speaking is an essential tool for communicating. In the classroom, improving the speaking abilities of students has always been a concern. In the fast developing 21st century various innovative technologies are being introduced to teach speaking skill in the classrooms. Technology is the vehicle to get access with this modernized world. More than the process of communication, trade and transactions, today technology is widely used in educational sectors. Technological tools have been regarded as ways of helping students improve language skills such as speaking skill. Internet, podcasts, video conferencing, videos and speech recognition software are considered the best tools for teaching speaking skill. This paper aims to discuss some modern technologies available for teachers of English today to enhance speaking skill of second or foreign language learners.

Abstract

In a distance learning program, UT is not only required to provide assistances in formulating independent learning materials, examination material, tutorials, practice classes, and examinations with the distance characters, but also to build students’ awareness to learn independently. Almost all learning resources at UT are in printed materials-books. Students must be prepared to learn independently to succeed in a distance learning program, supported by having a suitable strategy on reading of givens learning sources. The reading activities for students to exercise are very important in their independent learning. Therefore, comprehensing texts is crucial for academic success. The strategy is needed efficiently to increase students reading activity and practically enable students to understand a text comprehensively.Concept mapping is considered as one of strategies which hopefully used to improve student’s reading comprehension, especially for Open University student, whose a particular long distance characters of academic study. This strategy is provided since they can use their time effectively so that they can study regularly according to their own schedule. From the study of improving students’ reading comprehension by using concept mapping at sixth semester of PGSD program of Open University of Bengkulu, it was found that Concept Mapping can improve students’ reading comprehension. This can be evidenced from the students’ means which gradually improved in cycle one, two and three.  In particular, the study provided the discussion of 7 indicators of reading comprehension that were improved by using concept maps during the research, as the result of Concept Mapping contribution.

Abstract

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatanpemahaman bacaan siswa dengan menggunakan pemetaan konsep pada semester keenamPGSD FKIP of UPBJJ-UT Bengkulu. Metode penelitian ini adalah PenelitianTindakan Kelas (PTK). Peserta dalam penelitian tindakan kelas ini adalah 28mahasiswa semester keenam PGSD FKIP of UPBJJ-UT Bengkulu Pokjar KotaBengkulu pada Tahun Akademik 2.013,1. Instrumen yang terdiri dari rubrik pemetaankonsep, membaca hasil pemahaman tes, lembar observasi, dan wawancara. Data penelitianini dianalisis dengan menggunakan dua metode analisis data yaitu; metode kuantitatif danwualitative. Metode pertama digunakan untuk memeriksa dan menafsirkan data daripraktek pemetaan konsep dan membaca tes pemahaman dan yang kedua digunakanuntuk menganalisis semua data yang diambil dari observasi dan. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa (1) Konsep Pemetaan meningkatkan 'membaca pemahaman, dan(2) perubahan pemahaman baca siswa disekolah dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor, yaitu, (a)internal yang perubahan pemahaman bacaan siswa disekolah karena siswa siswa motivasi,minat dan pengetahuan umum, dan (b) faktor eksternal yang terdiri dari bahan bacaandan guru membaca.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze user experience and user satisfaction for learning assistance services, namely web-based tutorials, online tutorials and course assignments. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The number of samples is 540 respondents, namely students. The instrument used is a questionnaire which is shared with google form. The data analysis technique of this research uses the Likert scale method and multiple linear regression. The results showed that the three learning aid services had positive user experience and user satisfaction. More than 75% of respondents rated the user experience and user satisfaction of TUWEB, TUTON and TMK as being in the good and high categories. TUWEB, TUTON and TMK study assistance services are available to meet the needs of various students. Students who like to study more intensely, can interact virtually in two directions via video conferencing will choose TUWEB. Students who find it difficult to find a scheduled time and prefer to study with a more flexible but still focused time will choose TUTON. As for students who do not want to take part in TUWEB or TUTON, there is a more practical TMK. Variables that have a significant effect on user satisfaction of TUWEB learning aid services are dependability and stimulation. Variables that have a significant effect on user satisfaction of TUTON learning aid services are attractiveness, perspicuity and stimulation. Variables that have a significant effect on user satisfaction of TMK learning aid services are efficiency and novelty.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze (1) how the academic community understands the Independent Learning Campus (MKBM) policy, and (2) what are the supporting factors and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the MKBM program at the Muhammadiyah University of Jambi. The research method used is a mixed research method that combines a quantitative approach through surveys and a qualitative approach with interviews as an instrument in data research. Research informants came from the academic community who collected 550 people ranging from leaders, educators (lecturers), education staff, librarians, laboratory officers, and students of the Muhammadiyah Jambi University who were selected through purposive sampling. The survey results showed that the informants did not fully understand the MBKM program where 44% stated that they only knew, 27% were confused, 18% knew most of the MBKM program, 9% understood the MBKM program, and 2% did not fill out or choose. The results of the interviews illustrate that the preparation of the MBKM program has been running with a structured and systematic system. Although the informant also stated that the independent learning program was still new, funding or budget, quality of human resources, and supervision (process and results) were the determining factors supporting as well as inhibiting the readiness and sustainability of the MBKM program.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan peningkatan penguasaan konsep larutan penyangga siswa SMAN 1 Glumpang Baro dengan penerapan model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E berbantu ICT. (2) Mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan berfikir kritis siswa SMAN 1 Glumpang Baro pada materi larutan penyangga dengan penerapan model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E berbantu ICT. Penelitian dilakukan di SMAN 1 Glumpang  Baro dengan sampel penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas XI IPA. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pretest-posttest control group design. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode tes, observasi, dan wawancara. Pengolahan data menggunakan rumus N-gain, danpersentase. Hasil penelitian diperoleh model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E berbantu ICT dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep larutan penyangga siswa SMAN 1 Glumpang Baro. Nilai rata-rata peningkatan dari 21,25 sebelum pembelajaran menjadi 61,88 setelah pembelajaran. Peningkatan pada kategori sedang (N-gain = 52,55). Model pembelajaran learning cycle7E berbantu ICT dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berfikir kritis siswa SMAN 1 Glumpang Baro pada materi larutan penyangga. Nilai rata-rata peningkatan dari 21,25 sebelum pembelajaran menjadi 76,25 setelah pembelajaran. Peningkatan pada kategori sedang (N-gain = 67,44).

Abstract

This research aims to compare the factors that influence students' academic achievement in learning assistance services (TUWEB, TUTON, TMK) at UPBJJ-UT Bengkulu. This research used a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The total population in this study was 11,854 people, with a sample of 1185 respondents. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with the data analysis technique for this research using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this research showed that the overall cumulative achievement index of respondents had the highest average GPA obtained by TUWEB service users, namely 3.56, and the lowest was the average GPA of TMK service users was 3.21, while the average GPA of TUTON learning assistance service users was 3.40. The variables of learning motivation, learning assistance, and learning media influence the Grade Point Average (GPA). Meanwhile, the independent variables that do not partially affect the Grade Point Average (GPA) were age, marital status, employment status, participation in academic service assistance, level of perception towards UT, and the independent learning system and network quality.

Abstract

Tradisi lisan nandai adalah jenis seni vokal tradisional yang dibawakan oleh tukang nandai dan dipertunjukan pada malam hari.  Nandai merupakan salah satu sastra lisan Serawai, Bengkulu yang sudah ditinggalkan masyarakatnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan struktur teks Nandai Radin Kuning (NRK). Metode penelitian dilakukan secara metode kualitatif dengan penelitian lapangan yakni wawancara, rekaman, dan mentraskripsikan data pertunjukan NRK.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur teks pertunjukan NRK dibagi dalam pembukaan, pertunjukan, istirahat, dan penutup. Komposisi teks tidak baku dan dapat berkembang sesuai dengan konteks dan keinginan tukang nandai. Secara garis besar teks NRK menceritakan dua orang bersaudara yang gagah perkasa dan berani. Oleh karena itu, suatu peristiwa keduanya berpisah dan setelah dewasa mereka bertemu dan terjadi perang saudara. Kerangka teks NRK terdiri dari pembuka, isi, transisi, dan penutup. Struktur teks NRK sesuai dengan kerangka teks NRK yakni frasa pembuka, awal satu kisah, akhir satu kisah, penekanan cerita, situasi, dan penutup cerita. Frasa-frasa dalam teks tersebut merupakan stock in trade yang ada dalam pikiran tukang nandai. Tradisi lisan nandai perlu untuk dilestarikan kembali karena dengan merevitalisasi tradisi ini dapat menumbuhkan sikap saling menghargai dan menumpuhkan kepedulian sesama warga masyarakat.
