Abstract

Abstract

Carp (Cyprinus carpio) is one of the freshwater fish species with high economic value and is widely cultivated due to its high adaptability to environmental conditions, ease of breeding, and rapid growth. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding turmeric extract to commercial feed on the growth and survival of carp fry and to determine the optimal dose of turmeric extract for the growth and survival of carp fry. The study was conducted in March 2024 over 40 days at the Hatchery Laboratory of the Aquaculture Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Samudra University. The curcuma extract was prepared at the Chemistry Laboratory of Syiah Kuala University. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Where P1 (without curcuma extract administration), P2 (curcuma extract administration at 10 ml/kg of feed), P3 (curcuma extract administration at 20 ml/kg of feed), and P4 (curcuma extract administration at 30 ml/kg of feed). The research results showed that the best feed intake was in P4 (76.50 g), the best absolute length growth was in P4 (4.58 cm), and the best absolute weight growth was in P4 (3.64 g). the best daily growth rate was in P4 (3.15%), the best survival rate was in P4 (90%), and the lowest feed conversion ratio was in P4 (2.18%). Abstract

In Carassius auratus cultivation activities there are many problems that are generally faced by farmers, one of which is disease. This study aims to find out what organs are identified, determine the clinical symptoms in goldfish (Carassius auratus) which are attacked by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria and determine the prevalence level of Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria in Carassius auratus. Fish samples were taken randomly as many as 14 fish samples with a size of 5-10 cm. The research results showed that 7 goldfish samples were infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria in fish 1 (liver and skin), fish 4 (liver and kidney), fish 5 (kidney and skin), fish 6 (skin), fish 7 (kidney), fish 8 (skin), and fish 10 (liver). The prevalence rate of Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria in goldfish was found to be 50%, which is a significant threat to fish health.Key words: Aeromonas hydrophila, Carassius auratus, biochemical test, prevalence

Abstract

White snapper (Lates calcarifer) is a marine fish that has important economic value and contains high nutritional value as a consumption fish. In the white snapper cultivation system, the emergence of disease outbreaks is one of the main threats. One of the diseases that often occurs in white snapper cultivation is bacterial disease. The type of bacteria that causes serious disease and threatens the economy and sustainability of white snapper production is Vibrio alginolyticus. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of soaking mangrove leaf extract (Rhizophora apiculata) in white snapper to prevent Vibrio alginolyticus and to determine the appropriate dose of mangrove leaf oil extract to prevent Vibrio alginolyticus bacterial disease. The research method used is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were: P1 = 0 ml mangrove extract/L, P2 = 0.5 ml mangrove extract/L, P3 = 1.5 ml mangrove extract/L and P4 = 2.5 ml mangrove extract/L Results: The best healing time was found in P4 with a duration of 23 hours and the best survival was also found in P4 with a percentage of 96.67%, while the lowest survival was found in P1 at 56.67%. The range of water parameters during the study were temperature in the range of 28oC-29oC, pH 8, DO 4-5 mg/L water, salinity 31 ppt, ammonia 0.4, nitrate <0.01 and nitrite <0.1. The conclusion of this study is that soaking in standard oil leaf extract is effective in preventing Vibrio alginolyticus bacteria in white snapper.

Abstract

Pomfret (Colossoma macropomum) is a freshwater fish that is one of the leading commodities in Indonesia, and has good prospects for development because it has a delicious and savory taste. The obstacle that is often faced today in pomfret cultivation is the high Feeding Rate value in pomfret fish is not comparable to the growth produced by efforts made to increase growth and survival in pomfret fish, namely by adding VCO and fish oil to commercial feed. The research design used in this study was an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications where P1: 7% Fish oil / kg feed, P2: 5% Fish oil + 2% VCO / kg feed, P3: 3% Fish Oil + 4% VCO / kg feed, and P4: 7% VCO / kg feed. The results obtained on absolute weight growth showed the best treatment, namely in P3, which was 10.46 g, while the best survival rate was in P1, which was 96.67%. In P1, where fish oil is 7% with a survival value of 96.67%, this is because fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA which are important for increasing the immunity and physiological function of pomfret fish.
