Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen penilaian kinerja keterampilan mencetak rahang bergigi teknik mukostatik menggunakan alginat pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Unimus. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan model pengembangan 4D dengan langkah yaitu, define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, kuesioner dan observasi. Instrumen pengumpul data menggunakan panduan wawancara, kuesioner, dan lembar observasi. Validasi isi melalui pertimbangan pakar terkait kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis CVR. Reliabilitas instrumen melalui kesepakatan antar penilai yang dianalisis dengan ICC. Uji Kepraktisan menggunakan tafsiran skor kepraktisan. Hasil uji CVR didapatkan nilai masing-masing butir yang diberikan oleh ketiga pakar prostodontik adalah satu yang berarti semua butir instrumen tersebut valid. Hasil uji reliabilitas instrumen memiliki nilai rata‐rata kesepakatan antar penilai sebesar 0.998, sedangkan untuk satu orang penilai konsistensinya adalah 0.991 menandakan bahwa instrumen memiliki tingkat reliabilitas yang tinggi. Hasil uji kepraktisan didapatkan nilai rata-rata 33.2 yang berarti seluruh butir penilaian kinerja yang dikembangkan dalam kategori sangat praktis. Simpulan secara keseluruhan bahwa instrumen penilaian kinerja yang dikembangkan memiliki validitas, reliabilitas, dan kepraktisan yang baik sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai instrumen penilaian kinerja mencetak rahang bergigi teknik mukostatik menggunakan alginat pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Unimus. The aim of this research is developing performance assessment instrument of jaw impression with mucostatic technique using alginate to Students of Faculty of Dentistry of Unimus. Research method used 4D development model (define, desain, develop, and disseminate). Data collection were held by interviewing and observating. Instruments for data collection are interview guideliner, observation sheet, and questionnaire. Content Validity was analized by experts judgement and Content Validity Ratio (CVR) analyzation. Instrument reliability was analized by Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) analyzation. Instrument practicality was analized by practicality score interpretation. The results of CVR analyzation showed that three prosthodontic experts gave one in valued to each items, that meant all items of the instrument are valid. The results of reliability analization based on agreement of all raters were 0,998 for inter-rater agreement and 0,991 for one rater consistency. That meant that the instrument has high reliability. The Results of practicality analization showed value 33.2 which meant all items of the developed instrument was very practical. The conclusion is that the Instrument has a good validity and reliability. Therefore, it cpan be used to asses performance of jaw impression with mucostatic technique using alginate to Students of Faculty of Dentistry of Unimus.

Abstract

The incidence of anemia among female adolescent in Indonesia is 48.9%, due to menstruation, poor nutrition intake and worm investment. Long-term effects of anemia in female adolescent can occur stunting. Pharmacological anemia management by taking Fe supplements but these supplements can cause nausea. Nausea can be avoided by non-pharmacological anemia treatment by consuming Fe-containing foods such as long bean leaves. Long bean leaf contains Fe which can accelerate the absorption process of it in the body. The objective of the research was to analyze the effect of long bean leaf extract on changes in anemia status of female adolescent given Fe supplementation. Quasy experiment research design with pretest posttest with control group design. Data was collected for 14 days with 38 respondents. The treatment group was given 200 mg / day long bean leaf extract and Fe supplement, while the control group was given Fe supplement. Hemoglobin, hematocrit and erythrocyte levels were measured before and after the intervention. Data analysis used paired and independent sample t tests. The results showed the treatment group experienced increased levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit and erythrocytes by 1.45 gr / dL (p: 0.02), 3.61% (p: 0.019) and 0.53 x 106 / µl (p: 0.013 ). 200 mg / day long bean leaf extract given to young women with anemia who received iron supplementation for 14 days improved hematological status as indicated by an increase in hemoglobin levels, hematocrit and erythrocyte counts.

Abstract

Karies merupakan salah satu penyakit kronis yang paling umum terjadi di dunia. Penggunaan fluorida sebagai tindakan pencegahan karies sudah lama dilakukan di negara-negara maju. Dokter gigi mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting sebagai sumber informasi tentang fluorida terhadap tindakan pencegahan kesehatan gigi untuk masyarakat. Peningkatan pengetahuan dokter gigi tentang fluorida sangatberpengaruh terhadap sikap dokter gigi dalam tindakan pencegahan karies gigi dan akan meminimalkan terjadinya fluorosis pada gigi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan mengenai pengetahuan dan sikap dokter gigi tentang fluorida bagi kesehatan gigi (berdasarkan usia, jenis kelamin, dan jenis pekerjaan dokter gigi).Jenis penelitian ini analitik observasional dengan pendekatan survey cross sectional. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Pengetahuan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengetahuan dokter gigi tentang fluorida sebagai bahan untuk pencegahan terjadinya karies, sedangkan untuk sikap yaitu respon dari dokter gigi terhadap penggunaan fluorida untuk mencegah terjadinya karies. Uji chi-squaredigunakan sebagai alat analisis dengan nilai p < 0,05.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan pengetahuan dokter gigi tentang fluorida berdasarkan kelompok usia (p=0,01) dan jenis pekerjaan (p=0,001), namun tidak terdapat perbedaan antara dokter gigi laki-laki dan perempuan (p=0,661). Tidak terdapat perbedaan sikap dokter gigi terhadap fluorida berdasarkan kelompok usia (p=0,245) dan jenis kelamin (p=0,481), namun terdapat perbedaan berdasarkanjenis pekerjaan (p=0,039).Sikap dan pengetahuan dokter gigi terhadap fluorida berdasarkan usia dan jenis pekerjaan dokter gigi menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan, sedangkan berdasarkan jenis kelamin tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Depression as a part of a psychological condition is a situation that interference with the natural feeling. Emotional condition can affect the secretion of saliva in oral cavity and can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the mouth and can cause disease in the oral cavity. One of the common diseases is gingivitis. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of depression on the occurrence of gingivitis at boarding school students Rohmatullah 2 in 2012.This study was used observational analytic method with cross sectional design study that was conducted on 50 students at the boarding school Rohmatullah2 in 2012 using simple random sampling method. The level of depression was measured with a questionnaire of Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Gingival health conditions were measured by the Gingival Index. The results of research were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnovt test.The results of the data analysis with Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of depression and the occurrence of gingivitis (p=0.001), while the status of OHI-S as a confounding factor in this study also affect the occurrence of gingivitis (p=0.000). The existence of a significant effect of depression on the occurrence of gingivitis in accordance with a theory that depression can affect the release of cortisol from corticosteroid hormone that results in decreased production of IgA and Ig Gingingival fluid that acts as antibody in the oral cavity. In addition to the poor conditions of oral hygiene can lead the accumulation of plaque. from the accumulation of plaque can lead to the development of inflammatory diseases such as gingivitis.Based on the results of this study concluded that there was significant influence between depression and gingivitis at boarding school students Rohmatullah 2 in 2012. Keywords: Depression, Gingivitis, BDI, Gingival Index

Abstract

Nowdays various chemical and herbal mouthwash has been circulating. Propolis is one of the herbal mouthwash product derived from bee Apis sp. While chlorhexidine and povidon iodin are chemical mouthwash known to control the plaque growth. Research’s objective determine the effect of propolis mouthwash to plaque index decrease, compared to mouthwash ‘chlorhexidine and povidone iodine.The study was conducted on students 18-23 years old from the Dentistry Faculty, Islamic University Sultan Agung Semarang. Samples were divided into three groups, each group consits of 11 people for mouthwash chlorhexidine, povidon iodin, and propolis. Measurement of plaque index using PHP (Patient Hygiene Performance Index) Plaque Index by Podshadley and Haley.The majority of criteria dental plaque before rinsing were moderate in the group propolis, chlorhexidine and povidon iodin. The majority of criteria dental plaque after rinsing are moderate in the propolis, chlorhexidine and povidone (p < 0,05) iodine. P-value from one way anova test on the plaque index after rinsing shows that plaque index mean was significantly different. The post hoc test showed plaque index decrease by propolis is equivalents to chlorhexidine and higher than povidon iodin. The research design was pre and post test control group.It was concluded that propolis mouthwash influence to plaque index decrease. Keywords: propolis, chlorhexidine, povidon iodin, plaque index

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients are individuals who are potentially exposed to infectious diseases due to their weakened immune. One of these infections is in the oral cavity. Diabetes mellitus also affects the patient’s psychological condition, such as anxiety and depression. The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between levels of anxiety with oral health of diabetes mellitus patients type 2 RSI Sultan Agung Semarang in 2012.This research was used analytic observational on cross sectional design, conducted on 30 patients at the RSI Sultan Agung Semarang in 2012 with the simple random sampling technique. Anxiety levels of patients was measured by using questioner of Hammilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A). Caries status was measured by the DMF-T index, periodontal tissue status was measured by russel periodontal index, status saliva was measured by salivary status sialometri technique. The results were analyzed with the product moment pearson correlation.From the result showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of anxiety with dental caries status (p = 0.004), anxiety levels with periodontal tissue status (p = 0.000), and anxiety levels with saliva status (p = 0.009).Based on the research it can be inferred that there was a significant relationship between the level of anxiety with oral health of diabetes mellitus type 2 patients at RSI Sultan Agung Semarang in 2012. Keywords: Anxiety, oral health, diabetes mellitus type 2

Abstract

Denture stomatitis disease that occurs in elderly prevented by maintenance and cleaning dentures. Denture stomatitis caused plaque and microorganisms C. albicans that accumulate on surface acrylic resin denture base. Alpinia galanga (L) Willd contains essential oils that are antifungal compounds. This study to determine effectiveness of Alpinia galanga extract to the C. albicans growth on acrylic resin denture plate.This study there was acrylic resin plates 10x10x2 mm soaked in solution of Alpinia galanga (L) Willd extracts concentration 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% for 8 hour and clorhexidine 0,2% as the positive control. Taken 0.01 ml dripped on petri dishes that is containing SDA and incubated for 48 hours. Next, C. albicans colony counting and data analyzed with Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney.The results Kruskal Wallis showed no significant difference from Alpinia galanga (L) Willd extract concentration 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% of the growth of C. albicans. Mann Whitney showed difference between the control (+) with every Alpinia galanga (L) Willd extract.The results of this study concluded that extracts Alpinia galanga (L) Willd concentration 70% is the minimum concentration to inhibit the growth of C. albicans maximally.Keyword: Denture stomatitis, Alpinia galanga (L) Willd, C. albicans.

Abstract

ABSTRACTOne of the factors causing dental caries is the lack of children's knowledge resulting in a lack of awareness of children in maintaining dental hygiene. To increase children's knowledge can be done by promoting dental health through child oral health education and mouth. The use of media is still less effective in health education that has been running, therefore the need for innovation and development is to use media innovation “Heni’s Dental Flannel Book”The study aimed to develop of “Heni’s Dental Flannel Book” media as a health education book and the effectiveness “Heni’s Dental Flannel Book” for increasing the dental health care of Early Childhood Education Programs.Research and Development (R D), there are ten stages of research namely: information gathering, design models, validation expert, revision, product trial (Pre experiment with one group pre-test post-test, a sample of 15 children), revision, application trial (Quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group design, a sample of 20 children in the intervention group and 20 children in the control group, final product revision, production of product. Data were tested using ANOVA, Shapiro Wilk, Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney test.The results showed “Heni’s Dental Flannel Book”is effective as an effort to increase dental and oral health care for Early Childhood Education Programs as indicated by a p-value0.001. Children's knowledge is indicated by a p-value0,000, a child's attitude is indicated by a p-value 0,000. There is a difference in the effectiveness of smart dental books and flipchart in increased dental and oral health care for children with a p-value0,000.The conclusion is “Heni’s Dental Flannel Book” effectively improve children's knowledge and attitudes.Keywords : children in Early Childhood Education Programs , “Heni’s Dental Flannel Book”, dental health care.

Abstract

Tooth brushing programs that have been carried out in schools have not been able to change the brushing behavior of elementary school students, shown by OHI-S value = 1.3; DMF-T=1.09, def-t=1.78. Program improvement in behavioral aspects needs to be done to improve the dental health level of elementary school students. Behavioral changes are influenced by information. Information will be stored as much as 20% if delivered through visuals, 50% of the cost is delivered through audiovisual media and 70% if implemented in real practice.  Analyze the effectiveness of the audiovisual media model on tooth brushing habits of schoolchildren Method is Quasy experiment with pretest and posttest with control group design. The sample was divided into 2 groups, the audiovisual model in the intervention group, and the brushing program in the control group. The treatment was carried out for 21 days, the measurements were carried out pre-experiment, 25th and 35th days. Data were tested using the test freedman post hoc Wilcoxon, Man Whitney repeated, and Kruskal.  On the 25th-day measurement of significant changes in variable ways, long brushing teeth p0.05. At the 35th day measurement, there was a significant change in the method variable, morning brushing teeth p0.05. This model is effective against the formation of the habit of brushing teeth indicated by p0.001. Mogigu  model’s has the potential as an alternative to brush your teeth together in school so that it can be applied in the School Dental Health Business.

Abstract

Plaque accumulation on tooth surfaces associated with plaque pH and saliva pH. A decrease in the pH plaque and pH saliva will continually cause demineralization. One effort to prevent the plaque accumulation by consuming fruits. Infused water is a preparation made from the extract of fruits in mineral water.Purpose of this study to investigate the effect of consuming red grape (Vitis Vinifera) infused water to the plaque pH and salivary pH. Research design was a quasi-experimental design with pre-post test control group. Research conducted 16 on students Orphanage Aisyiyah as sample and simple random sampling as saple collection. Sampes was instructed to consume red grape infused water and saliva pH and plaque pH were counted before and after consuming red grape infused water. Data were analyzed with paired sample test with significance level of 5%.The results showed mean of plaquepH before and after consuming red grape infused water is 6.04 and 7.06. The study also found mean salivapH before and after  consuming red grape infused water is 6.01 and 7.26.Paired samples get significant value of p less than 0.05 (ρ = 0.001 plaque pH and saliva pH ρ = 0.002. The conclusion of this study, there are significant effect of consuming red grape infused water to enhancement of plaque pH and salivary pH
