Abstract

The concept of ukhuwah (brotherhood) in Islam is a fundamental value that teaches the importance of brotherhood, solidarity, and harmony among humanity. Broadly speaking, ukhuwah is divided into several types: ukhuwah insaniyah (human brotherhood), ukhuwah Islamiyah (brotherhood among Muslims), ukhuwah wathaniyah (national brotherhood), and ukhuwah manusiaiyah (brotherhood among all creatures). Each of these types of ukhuwah has basic principles that lead to the formation of harmonious and mutually supportive social relationships within society. However, in this modern era full of challenges, the values of ukhuwah face various challenges, such as the emergence of divisions and conflicts between Muslims, between religions, and between ethnic groups. This article will also discuss the application of the principle of ukhuwah in addressing contemporary issues, such as increasing solidarity, tolerance, and harmony in a multicultural society. The application of the principle of ukhuwah is expected to be a solution to improve social relations amidst existing differences, create peace, and strengthen a sense of unity and oneness in an increasingly pluralistic global society.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between Islam and culture through three main focuses. First, the research explores the role of culture in shaping the religious practices and social ethics of Muslims. Culture acts as a medium that influences how individuals understand religious teachings and perform worship. Second, the study examines the dialogue between basic Islamic values ​​and local culture through the process of acculturation. The analysis shows that the interaction between the two results in patterns of acceptance, adaptation, or correction of local customs. Challenges often arise when cultural values ​​conflict with principles of faith and morality. Third, the research assesses Islam's ability to adapt in a global context and its contribution to humanity and modern civilization. Islam promotes an ethic of justice, moderation, and social responsibility that is relevant to global issues. This study illustrates that Islam is dynamic and capable of dialogue with various cultures as long as it does not conflict with the basic principles of sharia.

Abstract

Pendidikan modern ditandai oleh dominasi paradigma sekuler yang memisahkan ranah ilmu dan nilai dari agama, sementara filsafat pendidikan Islam menekankan kesatuan ilmu dan wahyu. Analisis kritis terhadap pendidikan sekuler dalam konteks pendidikan modern masih jarang dilakukan secara sistematis dari perspektif filsafat pendidikan Islam. Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis secara kritis pendidikan sekuler dalam konteks pendidikan modern serta mendiskusikan implikasinya bagi pendidikan Islam. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis konseptual dan studi literatur. Sumber data berupa karya-karya primer dan sekunder tentang pendidikan sekuler, pendidikan modern, dan filsafat pendidikan Islam. Data dianalisis melalui interpretasi kritis, komparasi konsep, dan refleksi filosofis. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan sekuler dalam konteks modern memiliki karakteristik pemisahan institusional agama dan negara, penekanan pada rasionalitas instrumental, serta orientasi pada pasar kerja. Dari perspektif filsafat pendidikan Islam, hal ini menimbulkan tantangan terhadap integrasi nilai dan ilmu serta terhadap pembentukan karakter yang berlandaskan wahyu. Di sisi lain, terdapat peluang untuk mengembangkan respons konstruktif melalui pendidikan Islam yang kritis dan kontekstual. Pendidikan sekuler dalam konteks pendidikan modern perlu dipahami secara kritis; filsafat pendidikan Islam menawarkan kerangka normatif dan epistemologis untuk menilai dan merespons dinamika tersebut. Implikasinya, pengembangan kurikulum dan kebijakan pendidikan perlu mempertimbangkan dialektika antara tuntutan modernitas dan visi pendidikan Islam.

Abstract

The relationship between Islam and modern science has a long history and significant contributions to the development of science. During the golden age of Islamic civilization, many Muslim scientists successfully developed various disciplines, such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and philosophy. These contributions not only had a significant impact on Islamic civilization itself but also on the development of global science. The Middle Ages witnessed the birth of prominent scientists such as Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Razi, whose works remain recognized today. However, over time, significant challenges have emerged in the development of science in the Islamic world, particularly with the advent of secularism and modernity. In this context, the integration of religious knowledge and science has become a crucial issue, with balance being considered vital to the education and development of Muslims. This article examines the development of science in Islam, explains the relationship between religious knowledge and science, and analyzes the challenges faced by Muslims in developing science in the modern era.
