Abstract

Abstrak Peternak kambing di Desa Jenggawah, Kabupaten Jember masih mengandalkan pakan konvensional tanpa pengolahan khusus, sehingga rendahnya kecernaan dan nilai gizi pakan menjadi masalah yang berdampak pada produktivitas ternak. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan motivasi peternak melalui penerapan teknologi fermentasi pakan ternak kambing untuk menghasilkan pakan yang lebih bernutrisi dan efisien. Program pengabdian dilaksanakan pada September–Oktober 2025 dengan pendekatan pelatihan di lapangan. Metode ini dilakukan melalui sosialisasi teori dan demonstrasi langsung teknik fermentasi, yang terdiri atas penyiapan bahan, pencacahan, pencampuran dengan inokulan bakteri asam laktat, dan penyimpanan produk dalam ruang kedap udara. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan, kemudian dianalisis dengan uji T untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan motivasi. Analisis SWOT juga dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang, dan ancaman dalam penerapan teknologi ini. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pada skor pengetahuan (2,0 menjadi 8,0, t = –17,75; p = 5,39×10⁻¹¹), keterampilan (2,0 menjadi 8,0, t = –16,02; p = 3,99×10⁻¹⁰), dan motivasi (4,0 menjadi 7,93, t = –14,63; p = 1,72×10⁻⁹). Program ini berhasil diimplementasikan dan membawa dampak perubahan positif bagi masyarakat mitra. Kata kunci: bakteri asam laktat; gizi; hijauan; kecernaan; silase. AbstractGoat farmers in Jenggawah Village, Jember Regency, continue to rely on conventional feed without specialized processing, resulting in low digestibility and nutritional value, which negatively affects livestock productivity. This community service program aimed to enhance farmers' knowledge, skills, and motivation by introducing fermented feed technology for goat farming, thereby producing more nutritious and efficient feed. The program was implemented from September to October 2025 using a field-based training approach. The methodology included theoretical dissemination and hands-on demonstrations of feed fermentation techniques, covering material preparation, chopping, mixing with lactic acid bacteria inoculants, and storing the product in an airtight environment. Data were collected through pre- and post-training questionnaires and analyzed using a t-test to assess improvements in knowledge, skills, and motivation. Additionally, a SWOT analysis was conducted to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with the adoption of this technology. The results demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge scores (from 2.0 to 8.0, t = –17.75; p = 5.39×10⁻¹¹), skills (from 2.0 to 8.0, t = –16.02; p = 3.99×10⁻¹⁰), and motivation (from 4.0 to 7.93, t = –14.63; p = 1.72×10⁻⁹). The program was successfully implemented and had a positive impact on the partner community, contributing to the improved efficiency and sustainability of goat farming practices. Keywords: digestibility; forage; lactic acid bacteria; nutrition; silage.

Abstract

Organic rice is cultivated without synthetic materials, offering high economic value and health benefits. Supportive biophysical components are essential for optimal growth and improving organic rice productivity. This research aims to identify the biophysical components that contribute to the land's carrying capacity for organic rice growth. The research was conducted in Rowosari Village, Jember Regency, East Java. The study analyzed on-farm activities, including producing organic fertilizers and pesticides, land mapping, agroclimate, and assessing biological components. The results show that biophysical factors significantly influence organic rice growth. Indicators of the success of organic fertilizer produced are N of 0.15%, P of 0.04%, K of 0.22%, and fertilizer pH of 4.98. The qualitative analysis of organic pesticides revealed the presence of secondary metabolites like tannin, saponin, flavonoid, alkaloid, and terpenoid with the code (+++). A high biological diversity was observed, with a Shannon-H index exceeding 1. Additionally, the concentration of organic fertilizers and pesticides significantly increased the number of rice plant saplings during the vegetative phase. The study concludes that the biophysical components of the land provide strong support for the growth of organic rice, demonstrating their vital role in the sustainability and productivity of organic farming systems.

Abstract

AbstrakDesa Ngadisari, Kecamatan Sukapura, Probolinggo, menghadapi permasalahan keterbatasan akses pupuk anorganik dan tingginya limbah kotoran kuda akibat dominasi pertanian hortikultura dan pariwisata berbasis kuda. Permasalahan ini menyebabkan penurunan kualitas tanah serta pencemaran lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas petani dalam mengelola limbah kotoran kuda menjadi pupuk organik sebagai solusi pertanian berkelanjutan. Mitra sasaran adalah kelompok tani dari tiga dusun di Desa Ngadisari, dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 15 orang. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi manfaat pupuk organik, edukasi teknik produksi berbasis praktik (experiential learning), demonstrasi lapangan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi melalui kuisioner pre-post pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pada motivasi, pengetahuan, dan keterampilan peserta dalam pembuatan pupuk organik, yang terkonfirmasi secara statistik melalui paired t-test (p < 0,001) dan effect size yang sangat besar. Korelasi antar variabel hasil evaluasi juga menunjukkan hubungan positif yang kuat antara pengetahuan dan keterampilan setelah pelatihan (r = 0,94). Secara kualitatif, peserta menunjukkan perubahan perilaku yang positif, kesiapan mengadopsi teknologi baru, serta tumbuhnya rasa percaya diri dan kemandirian dalam pengelolaan limbah organik. Program ini membuktikan bahwa model pelatihan partisipatif berbasis kebutuhan lokal efektif untuk mendukung transformasi sistem pertanian berkelanjutan dan dapat direplikasi di komunitas lain dengan permasalahan serupa. Kata kunci: agroekosistem; difusi inovasi; experiential learning; petani hortikultura; sirkular ekonomi. AbstractNgadisari Village, located in Sukapura District, Probolinggo, faces challenges related to limited access to inorganic fertilizers and the accumulation of horse manure waste, stemming from the predominance of horticultural agriculture and horse-based tourism. These issues have led to declining soil quality and environmental pollution. This community engagement program aimed to enhance farmers’ capacity to convert horse manure waste into organic fertilizer as a sustainable agricultural solution. The target partners were farmer groups from three hamlets in Ngadisari Village, with a total of 15 participants involved. The methods employed included socialization of the benefits of organic fertilizer, hands-on training in production techniques (experiential learning), field demonstrations, as well as monitoring and evaluation using pre- and post-training questionnaires. The results showed marked improvements in participants’ motivation, knowledge, and skills in producing organic fertilizer, as statistically confirmed by paired t-tests (p < 0.001) and a large effect size. Correlation analysis also revealed a strong positive relationship between knowledge and skills following the training (r = 0.94). Qualitatively, participants demonstrated positive behavioral changes, readiness to adopt new technologies, and increased confidence and independence in managing organic waste. This program demonstrates that a participatory training model tailored to local needs is effective in supporting the transformation toward sustainable agricultural systems and can be replicated in other communities facing similar challenges. Keywords: agroecosystem; diffusion of innovation; experiential learning; horticultural farmers; circular economy.

Abstract

Triggered by a fungus of the genus Fusarium, wilting prevails in various horticultural crops in Indonesia. In asparagus beans, this pathogen can lead to decreased production. One eco-friendly controlling measure is the application of botanical pesticides made from betel leaves and neem leaves which have been extensively used to control various pathogenic fungi.  This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of plant-based pesticides made from neem and betel leaves in controlling Fusarium wilt in asparagus beans. This research was run for approximately six months, initiated at the Laboratory of Plant Protection in Universitas Borneo Tarakan, and ended in the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture. It involved Fusarium propagation, preparation of planting media, planting asparagus beans, infecting Fusarium, and producing as well as applying botanical pesticides. It employed a one-factor randomized block design with 5 treatments, control (P0), 5% neem leaf extract per plant (P1), 10% neem leaf extract per plant (P2), 5% betel leaf extract per plant (P3) and 10% betel leaf extract per plant (P4). The covariance analysis results showed that the treatment did nothave a significant effect on the number of affected branches, the number of pods and pod weight. Even so, it can be concluded that P2 can reduce wilted branches by up to 48%, with the same concentration, and P4 can reduce wilted branches by up to 52%. In terms of the total number and the total weight of the pods, P4 achieved the best results with 77 pods, weighing 3,272 grams.

Abstract

ABSTRAKProgram ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan sekaligus mengevaluasi dampak program pelatihan vermikompos terhadap pemahaman, motivasi, dan keterampilan para petani kopi Robusta di Desa Badean. Pendekatan sosial digunakan untuk menganalisis interaksi kompleks antara faktor individu, lingkungan, dan pendidikan dalam mempengaruhi perubahan perilaku. Metode pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan dengan penyampaian materi dan pelatihan langsung. Analisis dampak dilakukan dengan survei pra-dan-pasca program dengan menggunakan skala skor 1 hingga 10 untuk mengukur pemahaman, motivasi, dan keterampilan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji-t berpasangan, dengan nilai p yang rendah menunjukkan signifikansi perubahan. Hasil program mengungkapkan bahwa pelatihan berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman peserta tentang vermikompos, dengan nilai statistik t sebesar -9.49 dan nilai p sebesar 5.54 × 10-6. Selain itu, motivasi peserta juga meningkat, ditunjukkan oleh statistik t sebesar -5.26 dan nilai p sebesar 5.19 × 10-4. Keterampilan peserta dalam pengelolaan cacing dan pengomposan juga meningkat dengan nilai statistik t sebesar -7.36 dan nilai p sebesar 4.26 × 10-5. Program pelatihan vermikompos berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman, motivasi, dan keterampilan petani melalui pendekatan komprehensif yang mencakup penyampaian materi, praktik langsung, dan interaksi sosial. Saran untuk peningkatan program di masa depan meliputi pendampingan yang lebih intensif dan dukungan berkelanjutan guna memastikan efek positif yang berkelanjutan. Kata kunci: cacing; organic; penyuluhan; social; vermikompos ABSTRACTThis program aims to provide mentoring while evaluating the impact of the vermicomposting training program on the understanding, motivation, and skills of Robusta coffee farmers in the village of Badean. A social approach is used to analyze the complex interactions among individual factors, the environment, and education in influencing behavioral changes. Community engagement methods are carried out through material delivery and direct training. Impact analysis is conducted through pre- and post-program surveys using a scale of scores from 1 to 10 to measure understanding, motivation, and skills. Data is analyzed using paired t-tests, with low p-values indicating significant changes. The program's results reveal that the training successfully improved participants' understanding of vermicomposting, with a statistical t-value of -9.49 and a p-value of 5.54 × 10-6. Additionally, participants' motivation also increased, as indicated by a statistical t-value of -5.26 and a p-value of 5.19 × 10-4. Participants' skills in worm management and composting also improved, with a statistical t-value of -7.36 and a p-value of 4.26 × 10-5. The vermicomposting training program successfully enhanced the understanding, motivation, and skills of farmers through a comprehensive approach that includes material delivery, hands-on practice, and social interaction. Abstract

AbstrakPPAH (Pos Pelayanan Agen Hayati) adalah organisasi swadaya masyarakat yang memiliki aktivitas untuk produksi agens pengendali hayati. Agens pengendali hayati merupakan alternatif untuk mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap pupuk maupun pestisida sintetis. Agens hayati terbagi menjadi golongan bakteri, jamur, virus, nematoda, maupun serangga berguna. Desa Purnama merupakan desa sentra penghasil singkong. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk melakukan disemenasi agens hayati di Desa Purnama. Lokasi pengabdian terletak di Desa Purnama, Kecamatan Tegalampel, Kabupaten Bondowoso. Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi disemenasi dengan beberapa tahapan yaitu: penyuluhan agens hayati, penguatan kelembaagaan PPAH dengan forum diskusi, serta evaluasi program. Hasil pengabdian ini adalah adanya peningkatakan kapasitas pengetahuan petani di Desa Purnama terkait dengan agens hayati dan fungsinya pada tanaman. Selain itu untuk meningkatkan nilai keberdayaan, melalui kelembagaan PPAH dapat meningkatkan peluang dan potensi untuk bersinergi dengan stakeholder maupun instansi pemerintah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menjadi program lanjutan pada kegiatan sebelumnya mengenai pendampingan dan produksi agens hayati. Kesimpulan pada pengabdian ini adalah petani antusias untuk meningkatkan kapasitas diri melalui penguatan kelembagaan PPAH dalam rangka meningkatkan kapasitas produksi dan hilirisasi singkong. Kata kunci: augmentasi; berguna; berkelanjutan; sekolah lapang; terpadu. AbstractPPAH (Pos Pelayanan Agen Hayati) is a non-governmental organization that has activities for the production of biological control agents. Biological control agents are an alternative to reduce dependence on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Biological agents are divided into bacteria, fungi, viruses, nematodes and useful insects. Purnama Village is a central cassava producing village. This service aims to carry out the cementation of biological agents in Purnama Village. The location of the service is located in Purnama Village, Tegalampel District, Bondowoso Regency. Implementation of activities includes cementation in several stages, namely: counseling on biological agents, strengthening PPAH institutions with discussion forums, and program evaluation. The result of this service is an increase in the knowledge capacity of farmers in Purnama Village regarding biological agents and their functions in plants. Based on that, to increase the value of empowerment, through the PPAH institution it can increase opportunities and potential to synergize with stakeholders and government agencies. This service activity is a continuation program of previous activities regarding assistance and production of biological agents. This service concludes that farmers are enthusiastic about increasing their capacity through strengthening PPAH institutions to increase cassava production and downstream capacity. Keywords: augmentation; field school; integrated; sustainable; and useful.

Abstract

Abstrak Pengetahuan dan pemahaman yang kuat tentang pengendalian hama dan penyakit tanaman merupakan aspek penting dalam mendukung produktivitas dan keberlanjutan sektor pertanian. Studi ini mengevaluasi efektivitas program edukasi manajemen kesehatan tanaman hortikultura di Desa Sukorambi, Kabupaten Jember. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman petani terkait praktik-praktik pengendalian yang lebih baik melalui partisipasi aktif petani dan mahasiswa dalam penyampaian materi. Metode yang digunakan terdiri atas penyampaian materi melalui metode visual dan diskusi, yang memungkinkan pemahaman oleh petani. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman petani tentang manajemen kesehatan tanaman, yang tercermin dalam peningkatan skor pemahaman dan motivasi. Hasil dari analisis SWOT menunjukkan bahwa program ini memiliki kekuatan dalam keterlibatan aktif petani dan dukungan dari universitas. Namun, ada kelemahan yang perlu diatasi, terutama terkait dengan keterbatasan anggaran dan infrastruktur. Program ini juga menghadapi peluang seperti potensi dukungan tambahan dari pihak eksternal dan peluang untuk memperluas jaringan kerja sama dalam sektor pertanian. Ancaman yang harus diperhatikan adalah perubahan kebijakan pemerintah yang dapat memengaruhi pendanaan program, serta potensi penurunan minat petani seiring berjalannya waktu. Kesimpulannya, program ini memiliki dampak positif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman petani terkait pengendalian hama dan penyakit tanaman. Dengan upaya lebih lanjut dan dukungan tambahan, program ini memiliki potensi untuk terus berperan penting dalam mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan dan produktif di wilayah Desa Sukorambi, Kabupaten Jember. Kata kunci: hama; motivasi; patogen; pemahaman; seminar Abstract A strong knowledge and understanding of pest and disease control in plants are essential aspects to support productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector. The program aims to enhance farmers' understanding of improved pest and disease control practices through active participation of farmers and students in delivering the materials. The methods employed include the presentation of materials through visual aids and discussions, facilitating comprehension by farmers. The evaluation results indicate an improvement in farmers' understanding of plant health management, reflected in increased comprehension scores and motivation. The SWOT analysis reveals that the program has strengths in active farmer engagement and university support. However, it also identifies weaknesses, primarily related to budget constraints and infrastructure limitations. The program presents opportunities, such as potential external support and opportunities for expanding collaboration networks within the agricultural sector. Threats to be monitored include potential changes in government policies affecting program funding and the risk of declining farmer interest over time. In conclusion, this program has had a positive impact on enhancing farmers' understanding of pest and disease control in plants. Abstract

This study evaluated nano-insecticides formulated from essential oils of mint (Mentha piperita), lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), basil (Ocimum basilicum), and eucalyptus (Eucalyptus sp.) for controlling Sitophilus oryzae, a major pest of stored rice. Essential oils were extracted using hydrodistillation, and nanoemulsions were prepared via a low-energy method. Efficacy tests conducted at concentrations of 1–5% showed that mint and lemongrass nano-insecticides were the most effective, achieving 100% mortality at 5% concentration within 168 hours and exhibiting superior repellency (mint oil reached 100% repellency at 5%). At 5% concentration, mint oil caused 25% mortality after 24 hours, increasing to 86% by 96 hours and reaching 100% by 120 hours, while lemongrass oil induced 10% mortality at 24 hours, 76% by 96 hours, and 100% by 144 hours. Their high efficacy is attributed to bioactive compounds such as menthol and citral, which disrupt the pest’s physiological processes. In contrast, eucalyptus and basil oils demonstrated comparatively lower mortality and repellency. These results highlight the potential of mint and lemongrass nano-insecticides as eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic pesticides and provide a sustainable option for integrated pest management in stored rice.
