Abstract

Fluorescent pseudomonas are a group of rhizobacteria that colonize plant root areas and have potential as biocontrol agents for plant diseases that can be developed. This group of bacteria can increase plant growth by producing growth hormones, one of which is producing hormones Indole Acetic Acid (IAA), solubilizing phosphate, and siderophores. Apart from that, fluorescent pseudomonas are also able to induce plant resistance by producing secondary metabolite compounds which have antimicrobial properties. Many studies have shown that one of the most abundant microorganisms in the rhizosphere (around the roots) is bacteria Pseudomonas spp. This review will discuss the occurrence, distribution, growth studies, mechanisms of action, and control of plant diseases by fluorescent pseudomonad bacteria. This literature review will be helpful for future research aimed at providing information that fluorescent pseudomonads have potential as biocontrol agents for plant diseases.

Abstract

Ecoenzyme is a fermented mixture of organic waste, sugar and water in a ratio of 3:1:10. The results of fermentation can be liquid ecoenzyme, mama enzyme, and pitera. During the ecoenzyme fermentation process, microbes found in organic materials play a role in breaking down organic compounds to produce various useful metabolite compounds. The microbes found in ecoenzyme are generally Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) and fungi, but there is no literature that explains the types of fungi found in ecoenzyme liquid and mama enzyme from a mixture of several types of fruit peel. So it is necessary to isolate and identify the fungus from ecoenzyme and mama enzyme liquid with a mixture of orange peel and rambutan. This research is a descriptive study, with stages of equipment sterilization, making Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium, making and taking ecoenzyme samples, isolating ecoenzyme samples, purifying fungi, macroscopic and microscopic observations, and identifying fungi. Data on the number of isolates and types of fungi isolated from ecoenzyme samples were analyzed descriptively and displayed in the form of tables and figures. The fungus that was successfully isolated from ecoenzyme and mama enzyme liquid with a mixture of orange peel and rambutan peel was 5 isolates. Two isolates belong to the mold group which refers to the genus Trichoderma and the genus Paecilomyces, three isolates belong to the yeast group, but have not been identified to the genus level.

Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumus sativus L.) is a horticultural crop with high water content, low calories, and potential benefits as an antibiotic, lipid-lowering agent, and antioxidant. This Plant has great potential for cultivation, as it can be marketed both domestically and internationally. However, cucumber production remains relatively low and has declined from 2022 to 2023. This decrease is caused by several factors, one of which is changing environmental conditions. Therefore, the plant's ability to adapt to different environmental conditions becomes a crucial factor in the effort to develop cucumber cultivation. Based on this, the present study was conducted to investigate the morphological characteristics of cucumber leaves under different environmental conditions. This research was conducted from September 2024 to January 2025 in two different locations, namely Kota Padang and Kamang Magek. The method used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 treatments and 20 replications. The data obtained were analyzed using a t-test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that there were significant differences in leaf length and the number of leaf vein branches between the two research locations. The average leaf length in Kota Padang was higher, at 12.21 cm, compared to Kamang Magek, which only reached 10.42 cm. In contrast, the average number of leaf vein branches in Kamang Magek was higher, at 14.65, compared to Kota Padang, which was only 13.3. Meanwhile, no significant differences were found in leaf width and petiole length between the two locations.

Abstract

The global urgency for sustainable energy solutions amid climate change and fossil fuel depletion has driven innovation in Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs). This study investigates the synergistic interactions within a thermophilic microbial consortium (MS9 & MS12) to optimize energy efficiency in MFCs. By varying the inoculum ratios (1:1, 1:2, and 1:3), the research evaluates how microbial population balance impacts bioelectricity production. The MFCs were operated for 24 hours, with voltage measurements recorded every 2 hours. Results revealed that a 1:3 (MS9:MS12) ratio achieved the highest voltage output, peaking at 20 hours before declining, indicating metabolic synergy and efficient substrate utilization. Descriptive analysis highlighted the critical role of cross-feeding mechanisms and functional complementarity between species in enhancing electron transfer. The findings align with modular co-cultivation principles, emphasizing the importance of engineered microbial ratios for stable system performance. This study provides a protocol for designing balanced thermophilic consortia, advancing sustainable bioenergy strategies through optimized microbial interactions.
