Abstract

Background: Noise exposure triggers stress and thickens adrenal cortex. Electroacupuncture on Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) acupoints is known to reduce stress and improve the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. This study aimed to know the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) acupoints towards adrenal cortex thickness of rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed by intermittent noise. Methods: This study was a laboratory experimental study with the post-test only control group design. The subject of this study was male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus), 1-2 months old, and 200-250 grams of body weight. Twenty seven rats were taken by consecutive sampling. The rats were divided into 3 groups randomly, each group consisted of 9 rats. The Control Group (KK) was untreated, the treatment group 1 (KP1) was exposed by the noise, the treatment group 2 (KP2) was exposed by the noise and treated with electroacupuncture. Noise exposure was conducted for about 8 hours/day intermittently during 21 days respectively, while electroacupuncture treatment was done every 3 days, so there were 7 times of electroacupuncture treatment. Electroacupuncture was conducted at Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) acupoints at 2 Hz of frequency in a continuous wave for 15 minutes that its intensity was adjusted until local muscle contractions were seen. On the 22nd day, rats were sacrificed by neck dislocation and rats adrenal glands were taken and stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin for histological study. The thickness of rats adrenal cortex was observed under light microscope with 400x magnification. The data were analyzed by One Way ANOVA test and LSD test (? = 0.05). Results: The average of cortex adrenal thickness in KK, KP1 and KP2 were 454.93 2.03 m, 565.59 0.97 m and 479.65 1.34 m, consecutively. One Way ANOVA test showed significant differences among the three groups with p=0.000 (p<0.05). LSD test also showed significant differences between KK-KP1, KK-KP2, KP1-KP2 with each of p=0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: Electroacupuncture at Zusanli (ST 36) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) acupoints affected to prevent the thickening of adrenal cortex of rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed by intermittent noise. Abstract

Pendahuluan: Kader yang merupakan tangan panjang dari Puskesmas memiliki peranan yang penting dalam bidang kesehatan, karena memiliki fungsi strategis dalam menangani masalah kesehatan perseorangan maupun masyarakat. Setiap bulan kader melaksanakan kegiatan layanan pemeriksaan di posyandu lansia dan balita serta posbindu dengan supervisi bidan pembina wilayah serta dibawah tanggungjawab Puskesmas. Puskesmas Gondangrejo terdapat di Kabupaten karanganyar yang memiliki 93 buah posyandu dengan 240 kadernya yang tersebar di seluruh wilayah kecamatan. Hampir 100% kader merangkap sebagai kader posyandu lansia maupun balita serta posbindu. Oleh karena itu kemampuan dan ketrampilan kader perlu selalu ditingkatkan melalui pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kualitas layanan kesehatan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan kader posyandu dan posbindu di wilayah Puskesmas Gondangrejo Karanganyar.Metode : Pengabdian dilakukan dengan memberikan pelatihan kader tentang antropometri kepada kader baik untuk dewasa, lansia dan bayi (materi dan praktik), pelatihan juga diisi motivasi sebagai kader kesehatan melalui kegiatan ice breaking dilanjutkan dengan analisis hasil secara diskriptif, selain itu dilakukan evaluasi keberhasilan program pengabdian. Pengabdian dilaksanakan di Puskesmas Gondangrejo pada bulan februari 2020 dengan subyek kader kesehatan.Hasil dan Pembahasan : Pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan baik dan  mendapat dukungan penuh oleh kepala puskesmas. Puskesmas mendapatkan manfaat  dengan meningkatnya pengetahuan dan ketrampilan kader, sehingga meningkatkan performa dari kader. Pengabdian ini juga memberikan sumbangsih besar dalam peningkatan motivasi kader. Antusiasme kader kesehatan terlihat dari disiplinnya kader yang mengikuti program juga keaktifan dalam diskusi. Pemahaman materi mengalami peningkatan dilihat dari nilai rata-rata nilai postest yang meningkat 27%. Motivasi kader meningkat menjadi 100% dengan peningkatan ketrampilan sebesar 98% dan kader merasakan kebermanfaatan  sebanyak 100% dari pengabdian ini.Kesimpulan :Pengabdian ini memberikan sumbangsih  bagi peningkatan performa kader posyandu dan posbindu di wilayah puskesmas gondangrejo Karanganyar. Kata kunci:  Pelatihan; Kader; Performa; Puskesmas.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is a significant contributor to global musculoskeletal disorders, often associated with uncomfortable working postures prevalent among home convection workers. This study investigates the correlation between work posture and LBP incidence in 36 female home convection workers aged 20-55, selected through total sampling. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Conducted from March 31 to June 17, 2023, in Sragen, the study utilized RULA with an ordinal scale for posture analysis and the Modified ODI questionnaire, also employing an ordinal scale for LBP measurement. Results revealed 52.78% with low-risk and 47.22% with high-risk postures. Most LBP cases were mild (35 individuals). Kendall’s tau correlation test showed no significant relationship between work posture and LBP incidence (p-value = 0.175, p 0.05). This research concluded that there was no significant relationship between work posture and the incidence of LBP among female home construction workers. However, no significant correlation was found; 47.22% faced a high risk of other musculoskeletal disorders, highlighting the need for immediate posture changes among these workers.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Sepak bola membutuhkan strategi permainan yang baik, kondisi fisik yang prima, dan energi dan tingkat fokus yang tinggi. Maka dari itu, pengukuran VO2Max dan indeks kebugaran penting untuk mempertahankan penampilan dalam setiap momen yang ada tanpa adanya hambatan dan kelelahan yang berarti. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi VO2Max dan indeks kebugaran pemain sepak bola adalah Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan IMT dengan VO2Max dan indeks kebugaran pada pemain sepak bola. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasional analitik cross-sectional dengan populasi sebanyak 51 pemain usia 10-19 tahun, lalu dipilih sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dan jumlah sampel dihitung dengan rumus Slovin dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% dan tingkat kesalahan 5% sehingga diperoleh 45 sampel. Pengukuran IMT menggunakan berat badan melalui timbangan dan tinggi badan melalui microtoise. Pengukuran VO2Max menggunakan Cooper Test-12 Minute Run. Pengukuran indeks kebugaran menggunakan Tes Kesegaran Jasmani Indonesia (TKJI). Uji korelasi menggunakan Uji Spearman’s rho yang dilalui oleh Uji Normalitas Shapiro-Wilk dan Uji Linearitas ANOVA Table. Hasil: Diperoleh koefisien korelasi ρ=-0.041 dan signifikansi Sig. (2-tailed) p=0.787 untuk hubungan antara IMT dengan VO2Max serta diperoleh koefisien korelasi ρ=0.104 dan signifikansi Sig. (2-tailed) p=0.495 untuk hubungan antara IMT dengan indeks kebugaran. Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara IMT dengan VO2Max dan tidak terdapat hubungan antara IMT dengan indeks kebugaran.

Abstract

Highlights:1. This study emphasizes the significance of understanding professional football players' various somatotype structures and body fat compositions as an important contribution to the area of sports science.This study lays the groundwork for future research to better understand the intricate interactions between somatotype structures, body composition, and athletic performance.2. Since a one-size-fits-all approach may not be successful, this study advocates for tailored evaluations of training regimens to cater to athletes' unique requirements and skills, which may lead to higher overall performance.   Abstract This study investigated the effects of somatotype structures and body fat composition on professional football athletes' aerobic capacities and running speed. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects comprised 27 professional football athletes from Bhayangkara Football Club, located in Bekasi, Indonesia. This study measured several variables, i.e., players' age, playing position, somatotype structures assessed using the Somatotype Rating Form and Heath-Carter Somatochart, body fat composition measured using Brozek and Siri formulas, aerobic capacities determined by the maximum rate of oxygen (VO2 max) through the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 2, and running speed over a 30 m distance. The data were presented as mean ± standard deviation (SD), frequency (n), and percentage. The Shapiro-Wilk was used to determine the normality of the data distribution. The statistical analyses were conducted using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the post-hoc least significant difference (LSD) test, the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the post-hoc Mann-Whitney test, as well as the independent t-test, the Mann-Whitney test, and Pearson's or Spearman's correlation tests. A value of p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The athletes exhibited a predominant somatotype structure of mesomorph-endomorph (88.9%). Notable associations were found between mesomorphy rating and running speed (r=-0.548; p=0.003), body fat composition and aerobic capacity (r=-0.448; p=0.019), as well as age and aerobic capacity (r=-0.515; p=0.006). Notably, differences in aerobic capacity were observed among various age groups (p=0.031). There were also differences in body fat composition (p=0.003) and running speed (p=0.036) between two distinct somatotype structures. These findings underscore the importance of considering individualized training and conditioning programs that account for athletes' unique body compositions and ages.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di provinsi Jawa Tengah masih tinggi yaitu 73,4% pada anak kelompok usia 10-14 tahun dan menempati peringkat ke-22 provinsi di Indonesia. Status gizi, kebersihan rongga mulut, pola makan merupakan faktor-faktor yang dapat menyebabkan karies gigi pada anak. Beberapa penelitian melaporkan terdapat hubungan antara status gizi dengan karies gigi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dan menganalisis hubungan status gizi dengan terjadinya karies gigi pada anak usia sekolah dasar di SD Negeri Wonosaren. Metode: Penelitian ini adalah studi penelitian analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-September 2023. Sampel dipilih secara stratified random sampling sebanyak 100 subjek penelitian. Status gizi diukur dengan teknik antropometri, yaitu menggunakan pengukuran tinggi dan berat badan. Pemeriksaan karies gigi dilakukan dengan cara melakukan inspeksi dan sondasi gigi. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS) versi 25. Untuk mengetahui hubungan status gizi dengan terjadinya karies gigi dianalisis dengan uji korelasi pearson. Hasil dinyatakan signifikan apabila p<0.05. Hasil: Uji korelasi pearson menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan antara status gizi (IMT/U) dengan karies gigi (p=0.179). Simpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara status gizi dengan terjadinya karies gigi pada anak usia sekolah dasar di SD Negeri Wonosaren.   Introduction: Dental and oral health problems in Central Java province are still high, namely 73.4% of children aged 10-14 years, and are ranked 22nd province in Indonesia. Nutritional status, oral hygiene, and diet can cause dental caries in children. Several studies report a relationship between nutritional status and dental caries. This study aims to describe and analyze the relationship between nutritional status and the occurrence of dental caries in elementary school-aged children at Wonosaren State Elementary School. Method: This research is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. This research was carried out in August-September 2023. The sample was selected using stratified random sampling of 100 research subjects. Nutritional status was measured using the BMI/Age technique, obtained from anthropometric weight and height measurements. Weight is measured using a step scale, and height is measured using a microtome. A dental caries examination is carried out by inspection and dental condition. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS) version 25. It was analyzed using the Pearson correlation test to determine the relationship between nutritional status and the occurrence of dental caries. Results are declared significant if p<0.05. Results: Pearson correlation test showed no relationship between nutritional status (BMI/U) and dental caries (p=0.179). Conclusion: There is no relationship between nutritional status and the occurrence of dental caries in elementary school-aged children at SD Negeri Wonosaren.

Abstract

Anemia remains a global nutritional problem in children, pregnant women and female adolescents because of increasing its prevalence. This study aimed to analyze the effects of aqueoes extract of snake fruit seed (AES) on body weight (BW), body length (BL), body fat percentage (BFP), and wet organ weight in female rats with anemia. This animal experiment used the pre-posttest control group design. A total of 30 female wistar rats with anemia were randomly divided into 5 groups: the negative and positive control groups were given a low iron diet with or without administration of 3.7 mg/200gBW iron supplements, and the treatment (AES1-3) groups were given a low iron diet+AES administration (25,50, and 100 mg/200gBW respectively) for 28 days. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0, and STATA MP 17. The average of BW, wet liver and kidney weights in the AES2 group significantly increased, compared to other rat groups. The average of BFP in the AES2 group significantly decreased, compared to the control groups. The average of BL and wet spleen weight did not differ among rat groups. In conclusion, administration of 50 mg/200gBW AES increases BW, wet organ weights, and decreases BFP, but has no effect on BL.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the timing of ice compression on the onset of DOMS after submaximal exercise. This research is experimental with post-test only control group design. Thirty students of the Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University participated as subjects. Subjects were divided into three groups, control, treatment 1 hour after exercise, and 4 hours after. Submaximal exercise is done by step test. Ice compression was given for 10 minutes on subject’s front thigh muscles. DOMS pain was assessed using the VAS pain scale. The collected data were analyzed using the one way Anova test and continued with the Post Hoc LSD test. The results of the analysis using the one way Anova test showed a significant difference between the three research groups and the Post Hoc test showed no significant difference between two treatment groups, but the treatment 4 hours group had lower pain scale on VAS. Ice compression after 4 hours exercise can inhibit the macrophages which were the main immune cells for inflammatory reactions. From this study, it was concluded that the most effective timing of ice compression on the onset of DOMS was 4 hours after submaximal exercise.

Abstract

Background: Asthma control level is related to body composition. Somatotype is a body shape classification that is used to measure body composition indirectly using anthropometry. As far as we know, no studies are related to somatotype and asthma control levels. This study aims to describe the somatotype and the ratio of chest circumference to height and its relation to asthma control level. Methods: This research is an observational study at Surakarta in September-December 2022. The subjects were 51 asthma patients under control and met the criteria. Measurement of somatotype and the ratio of chest circumference to height was carried out by anthropometric methods. The Asthma Control Test (ACT) questionnaire assessed the asthma control level. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26 software with Fisher’s test and unpaired t-test. Results: out of 51 asthmatic patients, 43 (84,3%) had endomorphic and 8 (15,7%) ectomorphic. Fisher’s test showed no significant relationship between somatotype and asthma control level (P=0.56). Meanwhile, the mean ratio of chest circumference to height in controlled patients was 0.54, while those who were uncontrolled were 0.58. The results of the unpaired t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the ratio of chest circumference to height and asthma control level (P=0.03).   Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between somatotype and asthma control level, but there is a significant relationship between the ratio of chest circumference to height and the asthma control level.

Abstract

Iron nutritional anemia is a prevalent health issue among adolescent girls. Several factors contribute to anemia in this demographic, including inappropriate growth for age, poor nutritional intake, unhealthy food habits, inadequate or excessive physical activity, irregular menstrual cycles, and lack of nutrition knowledge. To address this, the government has implemented supplementation programs with iron tablets. Additionally, utilizing local foods rich in iron presents a potential complementary strategy.This study aimed to analyze the effect of salak seed flour biscuits (TBS) on the intake of iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), and vitamin C in anemic adolescent girls.This research was designed as a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study involved 33 anemic adolescent girls from Indramayu Regency. Data collection methods included interviews using structured questionnaires, 24-hour food recall forms, and anthropometric measurements of body weight and height. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, followed by Bonferroni post hoc tests.The results indicated that the administration of TBS biscuits significantly increased the intake of Fe, Zn, and vitamin C in all groups. Notably, TBS biscuits containing 4.17 mg of Fe per 100 g showed the highest increase in nutrient intake. Over a 60-day period, these biscuits significantly boosted the intake of Fe, Zn, and vitamin C in anemic adolescent girls.The study concluded that TBS biscuits are an effective intervention for increasing the intake of essential nutrients in anemic adolescent girls. The inclusion of such fortified local foods can be a valuable addition to existing anemia prevention programs.
