Abstract

Bengkayang is a district contributing to stunting cases in West Kalimantan, at 30.1% by 2022. The figure has increased compared to the previous year. The majority of the population in this district is the Ahe Dayak tribe, with an average level of secondary to lower education, i.e., no SD, SD, or SLTP graduates. It can affect public understanding, especially among young mothers, of stunting prevention efforts. One of the priority stunting villages in the district is Tumiang Village, which is in the category of Quality Family Village (Kampung KB) with remote access to health services. These factors are determinants of the intensity of health services from the local health force, so it is necessary to make an effort to improve education for young mothers in the prevention of stunting. The study aims to analyze the impact of education through the Stunting Prevention Diary on the improvement of Mother Balita's knowledge in Quality Family Village. The design used was quasi-experimental, with a one-group pretest and posttest. Samples of as many as 30 mothers who have news and are in the village of Tumiang Samalantan Prefecture were taken by purposive sampling. The measurement was done twice over a month of intervention using the Stunting Prevention Diary media. The data was analyzed using a pair T test (α = 95%). The results of the study showed that the majority of young mothers are unemployed (playing as a householder of 53.5%), the job of the head of the family is a farmer/manager/garden worker (80%), the educational level of the mother is SLTP and SLTA (36.7%), and the family income under UMK Bengkayang district was 70%. The knowledge score of the respondents increased from 9.40 to 12.83. The intervention provided is educational through the media. Diary Prevention Stunting is effective in improving the knowledge of the mother of the newborn. Thus, it can be concluded that the education of stunting prevention using the media Diary stunting prevention has an influence on the improvement of mothers' knowledge and can be used as one of the examples of health promotion efforts in order to accelerate the decline in stunting in Bengkayang district.

Abstract

Family is the smallest unit in society that significantly contributes to protecting family members, one of which is protecting and preventing sexual violence against children and adolescents. The family intervention model (FIM) is a family-based intervention model through efforts to change cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. This model seeks to impart knowledge and change parents' behavior concerning the issue of sexual violence in children and adolescents through the application of the family intervention model. This research used a quasi-experimental mixed-method with both quantitative and qualitative approaches. This study found that the paired sample t-test statistically showed that family intervention model contributed to changes in parental behavior toward sexual violence (p-value = 0.000). The results of the regression analysis showed that the family intervention model helped bring bout changes in family behavior toward sexual violence in children and adolescents, by 64%. It is importance to improve the role of parents in increasing communication and assertiveness within the family as a preventive measure against sexual violence.

Abstract

Rabies remains a public health issue in the Indonesia–Malaysia border region. In early 2025, 16 suspected rabies-transmitting animal bite (GHPR) cases were reported in Sambas, while Sanggau also shows consistently high numbers. This cross-sectional study was conducted from January to March 2024, involving 348 purposively selected dog-owning households. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations and analyzed with Chi-Square and multivariate logistic regression. Keeping other animals, interaction with stray dogs, and irregular feeding were significantly linked to GHPR. The most influential factor was interaction with stray dogs (OR = 4.690). When all three factors occurred together, the predicted probability of GHPR reached 98.5%. Rabies prevention should focus on reducing contact between owned and stray dogs, supported by regular feeding, vaccination, and health monitoring.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting remains a child health problem because it affects physical growth and cognitive development. Posyandu cadres have a strategic role in early detection of stunting, but their knowledge and skills need to be improved. This study aims to evaluate changes in cadres' knowledge and skills after early detection training on stunting.  A quantitative, quasi-experimental study (one group pre-test and post-test design) was conducted on 40 posyandu cadres using a purposeful sampling technique. The instrument consisted of 20 questions (scored 0–20) assessing the cadres' knowledge and skills. Improvement in training outcomes was measured through pre-test and post-test analyzed using paired t-test. The average score increased from 11.60 ± 5.295 to 15.18 ± 5.028. The average difference in increase was 3.58. A P-Value of 0.000 was found in the results of the paired t-test, confirming that the training intervention had a very significant effect on improving cadre knowledge. Early detection training on stunting significantly improved the knowledge and skills of integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres, strengthening stunting prevention efforts in the community.
