Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of individual counseling given to teachers in inclusive schools in dealing with learning problems with students with special needs (ABK) in Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects of the study were teachers and school counselors from three inclusion primary and secondary schools. The results of the study showed that individual counseling services were carried out with a flexible and collaborative approach, including teacher needs assessment, emotional mentoring, learning strategies, and mediation in classroom problems. Counselors play an active role as professional companions in supporting teachers to understand the characteristics of ABK and adjust inclusive learning methods. Despite obstacles such as the limited number of counselors and the lack of inclusive education training, the implementation of individual counseling has been proven to have a positive impact on teachers' readiness and ability to create friendly and adaptive learning for all students. Abstract

This study aimed to describe the pattern of parent–child dyadic interpersonal communication in motivating children's learning in RT 05, Pantai Amal Baru Village. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation involving four parents and two children as research informants. The analysis was based on DeVito’s interpersonal communication theory, which includes five dimensions: openness, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness, and equality. The findings revealed that the quality of dyadic interpersonal communication varied among families. The first family demonstrated a higher level of openness, empathy, supportiveness, positive attitudes, and equality compared to the second family. Parents who actively communicated, listened to children's experiences, provided emotional support, and involved children in communication tended to foster stronger learning motivation. Conversely, limited interaction caused by occupational demands and economic factors reduced the intensity of communication and parental involvement in children's education. Nevertheless, children generally showed openness and willingness to communicate with their parents regarding their learning experiences. The study concludes that effective dyadic interpersonal communication characterized by openness, empathy, supportiveness, positive attitudes, and equality plays an important role in enhancing children's learning motivation. Therefore, strengthening the quality of communication between parents and children is essential to create a supportive family environment for children's educational development.

Abstract

Discipline is the key to success, so if someone has undisciplined behavior, it will have a negative impact on themselves and others because it can distance them from success. The objective of this research is to investigate the impact of group guidance on students' disciplinary behavior at SMA Negeri 2 Tarakan. This study adopts a quantitative approach through a pre-experimental method, utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest design to assess changes before and after the intervention. The data collection technique in this study was a questionnaire. Student discipline is reviewed from 3 aspects, namely: 1) order; 2) ability to control oneself; and 3) ability to concentrate. The population of this study was 451 grade XI students at SMA Negeri 2 Tarakan. The sample in this study consisted of 12 students, selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical methods, with the assistance of SPSS version 25 software. The results of the study indicate that during the pretest phase, students' discipline levels were categorized as high and very high, with an average score of 156.7. Following the implementation of the posttest, the average score increased to 175.3, remaining within the very high category. Hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test (parametric) revealed a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. This result leads to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho), indicating that group guidance has a significant effect on student discipline at SMA Negeri 2 Tarakan.
