Abstract

This study aims to design a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) on the topic of social arithmetic to address learning obstacles related to students’ computational thinking (CT) and self-regulated learning (SRL) abilities. Employing an Educational Design Research (EDR) approach, the study developed the Missouri Mathematics Open-Ended Problem-Based Learning (MiMOPBL) model supported by an e-module based on the Predict–Observe–Explain (POE) strategy. The HLT integrates CT and SRL by guiding students through prediction, observation, and explanation stages while solving open-ended contextual problems. Validation results confirmed that the instructional tools—including lesson plans, student worksheets, e-modules, CT and SRL instruments—are both valid and reliable. Content validity assessed using Aiken’s V showed values ranging from 0.80 to 0.98, while reliability testing using Cronbach’s Alpha indicated high internal consistency (SRL: α = 0.85; CT: α = 0.89; observation sheet: α = 0.88). These results indicate that the tools are suitable for use in mathematics classrooms. Although limited to the design phase and one topic, the study offers a structured, competency-based learning design that supports student engagement, problem-solving skills, and independent learning. Future research should explore the effectiveness of this learning design across various topics and student groups.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of the CORE learning model assisted by Liveworksheet and examine the effect of self-efficacy on students' mathematical reasoning. A quantitative method with a posttest-only control group design was used. Instruments included a reasoning test, self-efficacy questionnaire, student response questionnaire, and observation sheet. The sample consisted of eighth-grade students at SMPN 16 Semarang, selected through cluster random sampling. Data analysis involved planning, implementation, evaluation, and simple linear regression. The results showed the CORE model with Liveworksheet was of good quality, and self-efficacy significantly influenced mathematical reasoning, contributing 71.6%. It is recommended that the interactive CORE model be further developed along with differentiated teaching tools to ensure learning becomes more adaptive to students’ needs.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program, initiated by the government to improve child and maternal health, has generated varied public responses on social media. This study aims to classify public sentiment toward the program by applying machine learning models to social media text data. The dataset used consists of 9000 tweets from Platform X that have been manually labeled into positive, negative, and neutral categories. Classification was performed using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithms combined with two term weighting techniques Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) and Term Frequency-Absolute (TF-ABS). The performance of each model was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The results show that SVM model with TF-ABS achieved the best performance with 99.69% accuracy, precision 99.69%, recall 99.68%, and F1-score 99.68%. The KNN model with TF-ABS also performed well, reaching 95.55% accuracy. In contrast, models employing TF-IDF demonstrated noticeably lower performance, with the SVM achieving an accuracy of [75,53%] and the KNN reaching [70,89%], indicating a clear performance gap compared to the TF-ABS weighting scheme. This research provides insights into suitable machine learning models and term weighting methods for sentiment analysis of public opinion on government programs using social media data.

Abstract

Mathematical connection ability plays a crucial role in enabling students to understand relationships among mathematical concepts, apply mathematical ideas in real-life contexts, and develop higher-order thinking skills. However, evidence from the field indicates that students’ mathematical connection ability remains relatively low due to instructional practices that emphasize procedural mastery rather than conceptual understanding. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ mathematical connection ability through a meta-synthesis approach. The meta-synthesis reviewed six primary research articles selected systematically from Google Scholar, ERIC, and reputable national and international journals published between 2020 and 2025. The findings reveal that PBL consistently enhances students’ mathematical connection ability through contextual problem-solving activities, the use of visual representations and learning media, and collaborative reflection. These results indicate that PBL is an effective instructional model for strengthening students’ mathematical connections in a meaningful and applicable learning environment.

Abstract

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental subject that develops students' logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. However, many students experience math anxiety, which negatively affects their interest in learning. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Knisley learning model integrated with the storytelling technique in reducing math anxiety and improving students' learning interest. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design was employed. The study involved 60 students of Walisongo Vocational High School, Semarang, consisting of 30 students in the experimental group and 30 students in the control group. Data were collected using math anxiety and learning interest questionnaires and analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, Mann–Whitney U Test, and effect size analysis. The findings revealed that students in the experimental group showed a significantly greater reduction in math anxiety and improvement in learning interest than those in the control group (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the effect size values of 0.60 for math anxiety and 0.62 for learning interest indicate a large practical effect of the intervention. These findings suggest that integrating the Knisley learning model with the storytelling technique provides an effective instructional approach to creating a more engaging mathematics learning environment, reducing students' math anxiety, and fostering greater interest in learning mathematics.
