Profitability ratio of PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur, Tbk in 2020 to 2021 decreased and PT Mayora, Tbk in 2020 to 2021 increased, and in the calculation of ROA and ROE at PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur, Tbk showed a decrease in 2021–2022 while PT Mayora, Tbk experienced an increase. This means that there is an increase in management performance of PT Mayora, Tbk but there needs to be an increase in management performance at PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk.

Abstract

The need for additional funds is very much needed in situations of increased sales and macroeconomic conditions. Covid-19 Outbreak affects the firm's financial condition. The need for additional funds can be influenced by internal financial factors such as the amount of capital intensity, spontaneous and current liabilities and retained earnings. This study aims to empirically examine the factors that influence the need for funds on the 2018-2020. Observation of the data using the 2018-2020 quarterly data study. The method used to calculate the formula for additional funding needed during crisis and non-crisis and use the SPSS IBM 20 statistical tool for multiple linear regression that examines the causal relationship of variables for additional funds. The results obtained are that there is effect of the capital intensity factor, current liabilities and retained earnings on the need for additional funds, while partially the capital intensity and retained earnings have a positive effect on the need for additional funds, but the current liability factor cannot significantly affect the need for additional funds. The results of this study contribute that quarterly data provide more detailed results in developing literature related to the need for additional funds and capital intensity and the factors that influence them more so that changes can be analyzed periodically, not annually.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and profitability on firm value, with firm size as a moderating variable, in food and beverage sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2024 period. The study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from annual financial reports and sustainability reports. The sample consists of 28 companies selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The empirical findings show that ESG performance does not have a significant direct effect on firm value, while profitability has a positive and significant effect on firm value. Firm size does not directly affect firm value, but it plays a moderating role in the relationship between ESG performance and firm value as well as between profitability and firm value. Firm size weakens the relationship between ESG performance and firm value, yet strengthens the relationship between profitability and firm value. Simultaneously, ESG performance, profitability, and firm size significantly influence firm value.

Abstract

This study “aims to examine and analyze the effect of capital structure and liquidity on stock returns, with firm size as a moderating variable. The study population comprised manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2023 period. The sample was obtained through purposive sampling, resulting in 45 companies meeting the criteria. The analytical method used was Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with the help of SPSS version 27. The results show that capital structure has a negative and significant effect on stock returns, liquidity has a negative and significant effect on stock returns, and firm size has been shown to moderate the effect of capital structure and liquidity on stock returns. These findings indicate that decisions regarding capital structure and liquidity levels must consider firm size, as the larger the firm size, the stronger its role in influencing the relationship between these variables.”

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of profitability (ROA) and leverage (DER) on firm value (Tobin's Q), with firm size and growth capacity as moderating variables in property companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2020–2024 period. The research method uses a quantitative approach with WarpPLS analysis techniques. The results show that ROA has a positive but insignificant effect on firm value, while DER has a positive and significant effect. Firm size and growth capacity are unable to moderate the relationship between profitability and leverage on firm value. These findings confirm that financing decisions through leverage are a dominant factor in increasing firm value, and support Signaling Theory and Pecking Order Theory regarding the importance of capital structure and financial information for investors.

Abstract

Research aims: This study examines how firm size influences the relationship between internal funding sources, particularly liquidity, and external funding sources, i.e., debt, on firm value, emphasizing profitability’s mediating role.Design/Methodology/Approach: This study examines publicly traded manufacturing companies in the consumer products sector that are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2019 and 2023. A sample of 43 companies and 215 observations was obtained through a targeted sampling approach. The data were analyzed using WarpPLS 7.0 software, which supports mediated regression analysis.Research findings: The findings indicate that while liquidity positively impacts firm value, this impact is statistically insignificant. Conversely, the debt policy significantly enhances firm value. Furthermore, profitability acts as an effective mediator in the relationship between liquidity and debt policy on firm value, with firm size further amplifying the impact of profitability. These results emphasize the crucial role of profitability as a mediating factor and firm size as a moderating factor.Theoretical contribution/Originality: This study is expected to enrich the Agency and Pecking Order theories by clarifying the role of profitability as a mediator in the relationship between debt policy and firm value with the factor of firm size as a moderating relationship between profitability and firm value, as well as providing practical insights for business executives in making strategic decisions related to the management of funding and corporate debt structure.Practitioner/Policy Implications: Indonesian companies, especially those listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and involved in consumer products, can use liquidity and debt to improve performance and firm value. This study takes a fresh perspective by directly addressing profitability's mediating effect and company size's moderating influence. This methodology provides deeper insights into funding sources and corporate value.Research limitations/implications: This study has several limitations, including a focus on manufacturing companies in Indonesia and data limited to 2019 to 2023, which may affect the generalizability of the results. In addition, this study only considers debt policy, profitability, and company size. At the same time, other factors such as ownership structure and macroeconomic conditions are not considered, so expanding the coverage of sectors and regions is recommended and using more sophisticated analytical methods for future research.
