Abstract

This study tried to find out about beliefs, actual practices, and perceptions of educators and students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Indonesia on online education they experienced. The study focused on 4C skills being embedded in STEM curriculum implemented to some courses. The samples were 17 courses including corresponding educators and students who enrolled the courses. Data were collected by observing activities in LMS and synchronous web meeting and by giving questionnaires to the educators and the students. The results informed that educators and students were able to adjust and adapt to online learning with some shortcomings. Educators’ belief that good online courses with 4C skills-integrated STEM curriculum is possible to conduct with some refinements. Students were able to follow courses which include 4C skills with the context of basic STEM knowledge. However, they did not prefer the use of LMS in their learning. Keywords: 4C skills, STEM, online education, mathematics and scienceDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1751-1758

Abstract

Learning activities, especially in chemistry lessons, are challenging and quite complicated learning activities. In addition, the provision of information such as teaching materials from lecturers needs to be reduced so that students can find, process, and use the learning resources they get. One of the learning models that can be used is the Collaborative Learning (CL) and Problem Based Learning (PBL) models. This model provides an opportunity to develop the social skills needed. Therefore, the researcher took the initiative to conduct a literature study to determine the effect of applying CL and PBL on chemistry learning. This research was conducted using a systematic analysis approach through several references in the form of journals published in the last 10 years, articles relevant to the research topic. Based on research results from several journals, it can be concluded that the CL model combined with PBL allows lecturers and students to share information more effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

Abstract

Education in the 21st century must be in harmony with technological developments where students are expected to be able to master useful skills to be responsive to changes and developments over time and to have in-depth knowledge and understanding to become lifelong learners. Based on these problems, the researcher aims to produce e-learning based PBL-STEM learning tools that are valid, practical and effective. This research procedure follows the Borg and Gall research and development method. Where the research method is pre-experimental, researchers use the One Group Pretest - Posttest Design approach. The results of this research are: the teaching tools were declared valid in terms of validation results of 95%, the practicality of the teaching tools seen from the student response questionnaire obtained a score of 95% and the student activity observation sheet as supporting data obtained a value of 98%, and the effectiveness of interactive e-modules can be seen from the average N-Gain value of the science process skills test obtained an average N-Gain value of 0.73 and in the critical thinking ability test obtained an average N-Gain score of 0.70 so it can be concluded that the teaching tools developed are suitable use in learning.

Abstract

Learning model Collaborative Problem Based Learning (CPBL) has the potential to improve students' creative thinking skills by providing collaborative learning and students are trained in how to solve problems that are very close to their lives. To find out the students' creative thinking skills, standard, valid, and reliable CPBL- oriented assessment instruments are needed. In connection with the description of the thoughts and research results above, the general objective of this study: to develop an assessment instrument for creative thinking skills and the feasibility of the developed assessment instrument. The validation results show that the creative thinking skills assessment instrument has a score of 3.67-4.00 with a very valid category. The results of the reliability test showed that the instrument for assessing creative thinking skills had a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.864 in a very strong category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of students' problem-solving skills in redox reaction material assisted by E-Worksheet based on problem-based learning. This study is descriptive in nature, using a preliminary research method with data collection techniques carried out using student interview questionnaires, teacher interviews, and preliminary problem-solving skill tests given to students. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively, both qualitatively and quantitatively. This study was conducted on 26 students majoring in mathematics and natural sciences at Semen Gresik High School in Gresik City. The results based on the initial problem-solving skills test showed that the problem-solving skills of the 26 students were still lacking, with a percentage of 74.35% for understanding problems, 51.23% for planning, 51.23% for implementing plans, and 34.61% for evaluation. Based on a questionnaire related to learning media needs filled out by students, it was found that the majority of students (88.5%) still relied on textbooks as their main source of learning. Meanwhile, the use of Student Worksheet was recorded at 46.2%, and only 23.1% had ever used E-Worksheet. This shows that the use of E-Worksheet is still relatively low in the learning process. Chemistry teachers at the school also stated that the problem-based learning model had been implemented, but there were still obstacles, one of which was the difficulty in finding real-life problems that were relevant to chemistry material. Therefore, E-Worksheet is needed as a more accessible learning medium to improve students' problem-solving skills in redox reaction material.

Abstract

This study addresses the low mastery of science process skills (SPS) of high school students on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions, which is exacerbated by the limitations of conventional E-LAPD in the Industry 4.0 era. It aims to identify the SPS profile of 25 grade XI students purposively sampled from a population of 75 people at Muhammadiyah 4 Sidayu High School, Gresik, through a mixed descriptive approach to the preliminary study design. The instrument includes six reliable SPS test essay questions (Cronbach's Alpha 0.80) measuring observation, classification, prediction, measurement, communication, and conclusion drawing, plus questionnaires and interviews, analyzed using SPSS 26 descriptive statistics, Azwar categorization, and qualitative content analysis. The results show that 60% of students have very low SPS and 40% have low without medium or high achievement, with the percentage of observation indicators (17.13%), classification (16.82%), prediction (16.21%), measurement (17.13%), communication (13.91%), and conclusion drawing (18.81%). In conclusion, conventional E-LAPD fails to facilitate inquiry, so it is necessary to develop guided inquiry-based learning for systematic KPS improvement.
