Empowerment of Etawa Goat Farmers at Wijaya Makmur Farm and Development of Diversified Goat Milk Products in Alangamba Village, Binangun Subdistrict, Cilacap.” Abstract This community service program aimed to improve the capacity of Etawa goat farmers at Wijaya Makmur Farm, Alangamba Village, Binangun Subdistrict, Cilacap Regency, through goat milk product diversification, business management strengthening, and digital marketing implementation. The main problems identified included limited technical skills in milk processing, low added value of fresh milk, suboptimal product branding, and marketing practices that still depended on local networks. The program was conducted using a participatory approach through socialization, practice-based training, production assistance, business management strengthening, and digital marketing training. Evaluation was carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, pretest-posttest comparison, records of product variants, and sales data. The results showed an increase in participants understanding from a pretest score of 50 to a posttest score of 85, indicating a 35 poin improvement. Score in entrepreneurship, business management, product branding and digital marketing increased from 48-54% to 80-88%. Product diversification increased from one to five variants, while monthly sales rose from 100 to 132 units, or by 32%. Program sustainability is supported through a joint business group, marketing networks, business records, and annual monitoring. Overall, this program contributes to increasing the addes value of Etawa goat milk and strengthening local potential based economic self-reliance.

Abstract

Objective of this study was to know the effect of NPK fertilizer and wood vinegar coconut shell on upland rice yield and, pest and disease intensity. Inpago Unsoed 1 was a main object in this study. Application of different dose of NPK as main plot viz. 50% and 100% recommended dose and concentration of wood vinegar coconut shell of ratio i.e. 1: 20, 1: 40, 1: 60, 1: 80 and 1: 100 were tested. Observation variables were number of panicle per hill, number of seed per hill, percentage of filled seed, seed weight per hill, weight of 1000 seeds and weight of seed per effective plot. Application of wood vinegar coconut shell with concentration of 1:20 improved grain yield of upland rice and reduced 50% NPK application, and suppress intensity of pest and disease.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the potential of terrestrial kale (Ipomoea reptans Poir) combined with corncob biochar for phytoremediation of cadmium-contaminated soil. The experiment design was a completely randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was the population density of Ipomoea reptans (0, 2, and 4 plants/polybag). The second factor was the dose of corncob biochar (0, 5, and 10 t corncob biochar/ha). The variables observed were plant height, leaf number, leaf area, chlorophyll content, wet shoot weight, dry shoot weight, wet root weight, dry root weight, effectiveness of plant in Cd absorption and removal efficiency of Cd. The results showed that Ipomoea reptans could adsorb 73.59% of Cd without application of corncob biochar. Ipomoea reptans planted with a population density of 4 plants/polybag reduced Cd content in the soil by 57.70% Application of 10 t corncob biochar/ha reduced Cd content in the soil by 43.42%. There was an interaction between Ipomoea reptans panted with a population density of 4 plants/polybag with the application of 10 t corncob biochar that reduced Cd content in the soil by 62.42%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of biochar and Trichoderma harzianum toward lead removal in soil, lead absorption, lead content in plant tissue also growth and yield of shallot cultivated on lead-contaminated soil. The experimental design used was a completely factorial randomized block design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor was corn cobs biochar which was applied 1 week after basic fertilizer treatment and consisted of 4 levels, namely B0: without biochar, B1: 2.5 t ha-1, B2: 5 t ha-1, and B3: 10 t ha-1. The second factor was the dosage of liquid of Trichoderma harzianum, namely TR0: without T.harzianum, TR1: 10 mL L-1, and TR2: 20 mL L-1, which was applied three times at 14, 28 and 42 days after planting. Data were analyzed using the F test and continued with DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at P= 0.05 level. The results showed that the application of 5 t biochar ha-1 was able to remove lead and decreased lead uptake in plants. Application of T. harzianum could remove and decrease absorption in plant tissue biochar was not able to increase the growth of shallot while T. harzianum increased the number of leaves and the number of tubers.

Abstract

Food safety and soil degradation were the reasons to treat contaminated soil. Shallots are high-value commodities, so cultivation is carried out intensively. Continuous use of agrochemicals can cause heavy metal contamination. This study aimed to investigate chromium removal, physiological characters, and yield of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) on biochar and mycorrhizae application on chromium-contaminated soil. A pot experiment was conducted at the screen house ex-farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University. The treatments tested consisted of two factors. The first factor was biochar dosage (B) consisting of 4 levels, i.e., B0 = without biochar, B1 = 1.2 g biochar kg-1 of soil, B2 = 2.4 g biochar kg-1 of soil, and B3 = 4.8 g biochar kg-1 of soil. The second factor was mycorrhizae inoculation consisting of 3 levels, i.e., M0 = without mycorrhizae, M1 = 0.1 g mycorrhizae kg-1 of soil, M2= 0.2 g mycorrhizae kg-1 of soil. The twelve treatments were arranged in a randomized block design with three replications. The results showed that the application of 1.2 g, 2.4 g, and 4.8 g biochar kg-1 of soil had been able to increase plant height and the percentage of root infection. The application of mycorrhizae 0.1 g and 0.2 g mycorrhizae kg-1 of soil was able to increase plant height, percentage of root infection, and plant tissue P uptake. Both applications of biochar and mycorrhizae increased plant height and the percentage of root infection by mycorrhizae.

Abstract

Rice grains produced in the conventional system are a prime source of heavy metal exposure in the human body leading to various health problems. The objective of this study was to assess heavy metals concentration in soil and rice grain under the conventional rice farming system in Banyumas, Indonesia, the pollution index, and the bioaccumulation factor. There were thirty-seven samples collected based on soil type, elevation, and irrigation system. The heavy metals level in soil ranged from 2.7 to 39.92 ppm of Pb, 0.11 to 3.01 ppm of Cd, and 4.79 to 61.32 ppm of Cr. Pb and Cr accumulation levels were below the maximum permissible concentration (MPC). A different result in Cd exceeded the MPC in 56.75% of sampling sites. Rice grain showed a high accumulation in Pb (6.85 ppm) and Cr (5.73 ppm) that exceeds the maximum standard. Cd exceeded 24.32% of sampling sites with an average of 0.54 ppm. The Pollution Index (PI) was medium in Cd and low in Pb and Cr. The Bioaccumulation Factor (BAF) of heavy metals in rice was Cd>Pb>Cr with averages of 0.64, 0.53, and 0.30, respectively. A high correlation resulted in Pb and Cd in soils and rice grains. Remediation is must done to reduce the heavy metals accumulation in soils and rice grains for environmental and health safety to prevent further contamination.
