Abstract

Security is one of the main focuses of countries in the world. In achieving this, many countries cooperate or join alliances. South Korea has long joined the United States alliance because North Korea has weapons of destruction, which is the biggest threat to South Korea. One of the commitments the United States gives to its allies is to protect defence and security. When North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test in January 2016, South Korea and the United States worked together to build the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) in Seongju, South Korea. This research analyzes what interests South Korea wants to achieve in security cooperation with the United States. The theory of national interest and the concept of security dilemma is used to answer this problem. This research was arranged systematically using qualitative research methods. The research results show that South Korea's interests in THAAD development cooperation with the United States include 1)strengthening alliances with the United States, 2)North Korea's fourth nuclear test, which led to an imbalance of military power, and 3)the emergence of China as a threat to South Korea.

Abstract

This paper discusses the management of traffic between cloud-based cellular networks. Welldesigned traffic management will allow network operators to draw maximum value from availablecapacity where cloud-based traffic management is called the UE (User Equipment). Runningtraffic management on the side of the UE allows decision making in the UE. Users can reach theQoS level to increase the speed of data received and communication latency or reduce theirpower consumption. Each UE maximizes their utility function, which is modelled based on theQoS parameters, selfishly, at the network side. So, the attempt is to maximize fairness among alluses’ flows by designing new improved model of traffic management cloud based of pricinginternet involving the energy consumption. Also in this paper parameters β as UE parameter valueand α as range value parameter are used. The results show that the improved model is betterthan the original one proposed by previous research in terms of maximum value reached althoughit takes more time for improved model to complete the iterations.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to identify the level of effectiveness of the application of the RC4 learning model on students' scientific literacy skills in science learning at junior high school. The participants involved in the present research consisted of 30 students from 7B class at SMP Negeri 1 Jember, East Java, Indonesia. The current research employed One Group with Pre-Test and Post-Test Research Design. Two trial sessions on Environmental Pollution and the Solar System material were administered. Data obtained from students' scientific literacy tests were analyzed using the Normalize Gain (N-Gain) formulation. The average N-Gain value in the small group trial showed a result of 0.53 and in the large group trial, it showed a result of 0.54. It can be concluded that the level of effectiveness of applying the RC4 learning model to students' scientific literacy skills was in the moderate category. Keywords: Scientific literacy, learning model, natural science, junior high school.  Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi tingkat keefektifan penerapan RC4 terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa pada pembelajaran IPA di SMP. Subjek pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 30 orang siswa kelas 7B di SMP Negeri 1 Jember, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah One Group with Pre-Test and Post-Test Research Design, dengan dua sesi uji coba pada materi Pencemaran Lingkungan dan Sistem Tata Surya. Kemudian data hasil literasi sains siswa dianalisis menggunakan formulasi Normalize Gain (N-Gain). Nilai rerata N-Gain pada uji coba kelompok kecil menunjukkan nilai sebesar 0,53 dan pada uji coba kelompok besar menunjukkan nilai sebesar 0.54. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat keefektifan penerapan model pembelajaran RC4 terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa termasuk dalam kategori keefektifan sedang. Keywords: literasi sains, model pembelajaran, ipa, sekolah menengah pertama.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was started from the authors’ interest in social criticisms related to the case of human rights violations experienced by the watch factory worker from PT. Catur Putra Surya (CPS) named Marsinah during the New Order period. Poetry itself is one of the communication media that can be used by someone to give social criticism against an occasion. In a poem "Dongeng Marsinah", there were many metaphors that represented the reality of Marsinah murder case. While, in order to learn the meaning of social critics was contained in the poem “Dongeng Marsinah”, researchers conductednthe research used a critical approach, model Teun A. Van Dijk that had three dimensions of analysis. That were text dimensions, social cognition, and social context dimensions, so that researchers could find a representation of the meaning of social criticism of Marsinah’s violations of human rights. Through observations, documentation, and interviews were conducted by researchers, finally found social criticisms of marsinah case contained in the poem. The results showed that Sapardi Djoko Damono wanted to show social criticism and how the reality that Marsinah experienced during her time as a watch factory worker, where she had to fight desperately for the severe rights of workers, until finally she had to be killed in a terrible accident. To become a reader of a poem, we must be prepared to be confronted with the thoughts made by the author of the text of the poem as a description of the reality that cools along with his ideology through the implied messages in the text. Abstract

Media online hadir dengan menawarkan berberapa keunggulan yang dibutuhkan masyarakat milenial, seperti informasi yang cepathingga isi berita yang lebih singkat danpadat. Akan tetapi, dibalik keunggulan media online yang serba cepat, terdapat kemungkinan terjadinya penyimpangan prinsip-prinsip jurnalisme. Seseorang yang bekerja di dunia ke-jurnalistik-an harus mengerti prinsip-prinsip dasar untuk menjadi seorang jurnalis agar berita yang yang dihasilkan memiliki kualitas yang baik. Prinsip-prinsip jurnalisme yang cukup dikenal saat ini adalah sembilan elemen jurnalisme yang diperkenalkan oleh Bill Kovach dan Tom Rosenstiel. Penelitian ini menkaji drama Korea Argon, menceritakan seorang reporter, news anchor sekaligus pemimpin program investigasi Argon. Ia tidak mentoleransi kesalahan dan hanya mengandalkan fakta. Disamping itu, pemimpin program ini berusaha mempertahankan tim dan juga programnya agar tidak dicabut oleh stasiun televisi. Tim argon tetap mencari informasi yang sesuai fakta dan tidak meruntuhkan tekadnya dalam menyiarkan berita, meskipun jam tayang yang telah berubah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan 9 elemen jurnalisme dalam drama Argon. Metode yang digunakan analisis isi deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini, dari 8 episode yang terdiri atas 22 adegan dan 107 screenshot gambar menunjukkan adanya 9 elemen jurnalisme dalam drama Argon dan cara penerapan yang berbeda-beda dalam tiap-tiap adegan.

Abstract

Bahan ajar siswa terutama Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) yang digunakan guru di MTs Mabdaul Ma'arif Jombang jumlah dan ragamnya terbatas sehingga kurang mendukung pemahaman konsep maupun materi. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian adalah melatih guru untuk menggunakan dan mengembangkan LKPD berbasis Pendekatan STEM, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru yaitu kemampuan menguasai materi bahan ajar dalam bentuk LKPD. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 33 guru yang dilakukan secara sistematis dalam mengembangkan LKPD yang sesuai dengan pencapaian kompetensi siswa. Kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan pada 18–21 Oktober 2022 dengan pendekatan yang digunakan selama proses pelaksanaan pelatihan ini yaitu pendekatan proses. Tahapan kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu pembentukan tim, perumusan tujuan, identifikasi stakesholder, pengumpulan dan analisis kebutuhan, penentuan prioritas masalah, persiapan, implementasi, pendampingan, review dan evaluasi. Terdapat peningkatan pemahaman guru terhadap langkah-langkah pengembangan meliputi: hakikat, komponen, karakteristik materi, demonstrasi pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan produk LKPD berbasis STEM. Dengan demikian, diharapkan guru akan lebih terlatih dan kompeten dalam pengembangan LKPD untuk meningkatkan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa.Student teaching materials, especially the student worksheets used by teachers at MTs Mabdaul Ma'arif Jombang, are limited so that they do not support understanding concepts or material. The service activity aims to train teachers to use and develop student worksheets based on the STEM Approach, which is expected to increase the professional competence of teachers, namely the ability to master teaching materials in the form of student worksheets. The training was attended by 33 teachers who carried out systematically developing student worksheets in accordance with the achievement of student competencies. The training activities were carried out on October 18-21, 2022, with the approach used during the implementation of this training, namely the process approach. The stages of the activities carried out are team formation, formulation of goals, identification of stakeholders, collection and analysis of needs, prioritization of problems, preparation, implementation, mentoring, review and evaluation. There is an increase in teachers' understanding of the development steps, including nature, components, material characteristics, and demonstration of the implementation of learning using STEM-based student worksheet products. Thus, it is hoped that teachers will be more trained and competent in developing student worksheets to improve students' higher-order thinking.

Abstract

People who have a fish processing business into snacks in the form of amplang in Sanga Sanga Dalam Village, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, also feel the impact of the scarcity of fuel sources for cooking, namely LPG. There is a need for alternative fuels that can be used to expedite the amplang business. Used oil-fueled stoves are an alternative that can be used to cook processed fish into amplang. This community empowerment activity aims to provide information and the use of alternative energy by using a used oil-fueled stove that can be used to cook processed fish into amplang. The introduction and operation of this used oil-fueled stove is needed to be able to facilitate the amplang business activities carried out by the community on the Mahakam river coast in Sanga Sanga Dalam village, Kutai Kartanegara. With this used oil-fueled stove it is hoped that it can facilitate business and can anticipate the scarcity of LPG, so that amplang production can run smoothly.

Abstract

Kedudukan, hak dan kewajiban lanjut usia tertuang dalam UUD 1945 Pasal 27 ayat (2) dan Pasal 28 huruf H ayat (3), Pasal 34 ayat (1) dan (2) yang mengatur mengenai hak-hak Warga Negara dalam mewujudkan kesejahte- raan sosial. Adapun isu hukum artikel ini adalah bagaimana konsep state responsibility dalam perlindungan kesejahteraan lanjut usia dan apakah bentuk perlindungan hukum terhadap lanjut usia. Artikel ini menggunakan metodologi yuridis normatif, dengan pendekatan peraturan perundang-un- dangan (statute approach) dan pendekatan konseptual ( conseptual approach). Kesimpulan pertama, State Responsibility dalam perlindungan kesejahteraan lanjut usia sering diartikan sebagai tanggungjawab politik. Tanggungjawab politik merupakan tanggung jawab Menteri atau para pegawai dalam melaku- kan pengawasan dalam setiap pengambilan kebijakan terhadap perlindungan kesejahteraan lanjut usia kepada Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR), tindak lanjut dari political responsibility dapat diminta mengundurkan diri atau diberhentikan menjadi Pejabat atau Badan Tata Usaha Negara. Kesimpulan kedua, bentuk perlindungan hukum terhadap kesejahteraan lanjut usia dalam rangka pemberdayaan lansia sehat, mandiri dan produktif dengan diaturnya dalam   ketentuan   peraturan   perundang-undangan   tentang   perlindungan hukum terhadap kesejahteraan lanjut usia dengan mendasarkan pada akar permasalahan yang terjadi mulai dari tingkat bottom sampai ke atas.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve student learning outcomes and activities in the implementation of the 2013 curriculum Problem Based Learning (PBL) Learning Model in grade VIII.8. The author conducted research at SMP Negeri 21 Batam grade VIII.8 Mathematics subject for the 2020/2021 academic year. This Classroom Action Research uses qualitative Descriptive Techniques in two learning cycles through observation and tests of the ability to solve SPLDV problems Mastery of the Two Variable Linear Equation System material in grade VIII.8 SMP Negeri 21 Batam shows an increase, this can be shown by the average daily test results, but in cycle 1 (before using the PBL model) which is 63 and 69 and after using the PBL model to 70 in the cycle, While in cycle 2 it becomes 78. Based on the study of theory and frame of mind proposed by researchers, as well as the results of research conducted on grade VIII.8 students, it can be concluded that the Problem Base Learning (PBL) Learning Model can improve learning outcomes and student activeness in class during learning. Based on observations, student activities in implementing the PBL learning model have increased, namely the good category. In the initial data of activity observations of 50% sufficient quality, in cycle 1 it rose to 54% sufficient quality, and for cycle 2 it increased but not significantly by 67%.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the significant difference of the skill in writing of recount text between the students who were taught by using Journalist Questions Technique and those who were not. In this study, the researcher used quantitative approach with quasi experimental design which was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Pangkalpinang in academic year 2021/2022. The researcher used purposive sampling technique and two classes were taken as samples, while the samples of this study were 77 students. The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. The finding showed that the students who taught by using Journalist Questions Technique got higher score than those who taught by non using Journalist Questions Technique. It could be seen from the result of the mean score of post-test in the experimental group was higher (85.68) than the mean score in the control group (80.00). Furthermore, the result of independent sample t-test stated that t-obtained (3.605) was higher than critical value of t-table (2.00) and the p-output or the significant (2-tailed) was 0.001, lower than computation with significant level 0.05. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Therefore, there was a significant difference between who were taught by using Journalist Question Technique and the students who were not.. In conclusion, Journalist Questions Technique has a moderate effect in improving students’ writing ability.
