Abstract

Minapadi is a term for the integrated cultivation of rice and fish. This study aimed to: (1) determine the potential of insect pests from the rice field ecosystem as a natural feed source for catfish in a Minapadi system; and (2) analyze the system's effectiveness in naturally controlling insect pest populations in rice. Three experimental plots were established: Plot A combined a rice field with acatfish pond equipped with a light trap; Plot B combined a rice field with a catfish pond without a light trap; and Plot C was a rice field alone, serving as a control. The methodology encompassed land preparation and plot layout, maintenance of rice and catfish, insect sampling, measurement of rice plant growth parameters, assessment of catfish weight and protein content, and statistical data analysis. The potential of insects as feed was indicated by the significant abundance of captured insects, categorized as either pests or natural enemies. Insect abundance across all plots increased weekly during observations. The insect pest diversity index was moderate in the integrated plots (A and B) and low in the control plot (C). The diversity index for natural enemies was moderate acrossall three plots. Statistical analysis revealed that the variation in insect pest abundance and diversity did not significantly influence the protein content levels measured in the catfish. Over all, Minapadi framework demonstrates promise as a component of integrated pest management however supplemental strategies such as light traps may be necessary to enhance control of specific pestpopulations.

Abstract

Abstract

West Kalimantan has great potential of forests and indigenous people. Therefore, it is crucial to study on forest management by indigenous people. The study is aimed at analyzing the forest management carried out by the Dayak Katab Kebahan community; and the condition of the forest ecosystem. The research area is in Melawi Regency, West Kalimantan. Observations and in-depth interviews were conducted to explore the customs in managing forests. A vegetation survey using purposive sampling was performed. The fauna study was conducted by the exploration method. Vegetation data analysis was carried out by calculating the importance value and diversity indices. One-way ANOVA analysis was done to determine the presence of forest ecosystem differences between two forests. The findings showed forest managed by the Dayak Katab Kebahan community has a core zone which is a zone that should not be disturbed, and a cultivation zone which can be utilized and can be intercropped with plantation crops; and the forest ecosystem managed by the Dayak Katab Kebahan community has a higher fauna richness, vegetation diversity index and the importance value index of each species. It is suggested that the government be involved in supporting the customary law of local communities in forest conservation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the combination of pellets and natural feed on catfish protein levels in the minapadi system. The method used was an experimental design with two feeding treatments, which were treatment A (a combination of pellets and natural feed) and treatment B (pellets only). The natural feed consisted of insects available within the minapadi system, while the pellets used were commercial pellets. The study was conducted for 76 days in the rice field area of Donotirto Village, Kapanewon Kretek, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Catfish protein content was tested using the Kjeldahl method. The data obtained was statistically analysed using an independent t-test. The average protein content of catfish in treatment A was 16.17%, whereas that in treatment B was 16.89%. The statistical analysis indicated that the combination of pellets and natural feed had no significant effect on the protein content of catfish. These results are presumably influenced by the limited availability of insects during the study, which limited their contribution as natural feed to significantly enhance the protein content of catfish. Theese finding indicates that the utilization of insects within the minapadi system requires improved management and adjustments in cultivation practices to increase their availability. Further studies are therefore necessary to explore alternative natural feed sources as well as modifications to the minapadi system that could enhance insect availability as an additional nutritional resource for catfish.

Abstract

To solve problems accurately and focused, students must have problem solving skills. The purpose of this study was to evaluate class X students of SMA N 4 Yogyakarta in the even semester of the academic year. This study uses a descriptive quantitative research method. As a sample used simple random sampling. According to Polya, there are four indicators of problem-solving ability: Understanding the problem, preparing, implementing plans, and re-checking are steps that must be taken. On the topic of environmental change, the test instrument revealed that students' problem-solving abilities were in the high range. But if we look at each indicator separately, we can see that all four of them belong to a group. This is because students do not double-check their written answers and continue to doubt these answers. The non-test instrument study, on the other hand, the non-test instrument study found that students' problem solving abilities were very good. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the students' overall problem solving abilities are of a high standard. Because research findings cannot be used with all materials, problem solving skills must be tested with different materials.
