Abstract

The current public perception concerning land use change is, whenever forest is converted to agricultural land, the forest functions would drasticaly decrease. Studies have shown that soil loss in coffee based systems varied widely and it could be much lower than the tolerable soil loss level, depending on soil properties. This research was conducted to determine the dominant factors of soil properties in influencing soil loss. This analysis was based on data collected from a 3-site (Laksana, Tepus and Bodong Sub-Village of Sumberjaya Village, West Lampung) erosion study in 2001/2002. Observation of soil properties for each site was carried out by soil profile description and quantitative laboratory analyses for several soil physical properties and organic C content. Samples were collected from three soil depths namely 0-10, 10-20 and 20-40 cm. The resultsindicated that soil physical properties were dominant factors determining soil loss level in coffee-based farming system in Sumberjaya. The erosion on soil with mean total porosity of > 65%, macro pore of > 24%, and soil permeability of > 9 cm hr-1 was < 2 t ha-1 yr-1. Whereas erosion of soil with porosity of < 60%, macro pore of < 13%, and soil permeability of < 3 cm hr-1 was 37 t ha-1 for 3 months. These results suggested that soilconservation recommendation, particularly for Sumberjaya coffeebasedsystems, should not be imposed uniformly across sites. Site-specific soil property characterization and hence evaluation of soil susceptibility to erosion should precede recommendation and implementation emphasized only on erosion-prone sites.

Abstract

Relationship between cations adsorbed in solid phase (Qfactor) and those in soil solution (I-factor) can be expressed by quantity-intensity (Q-I) relationship curve of K that was introduced by Beckett. A laboratory experiment to study the effect of amelioration and K fertilization on K Q-I parameters was carried out on three soil families of acid upland mineral soil from Cigudeg, Kentrong, and Papanrejo. The experiment was arranged using completely randomized design with 2 factors. The first factor was three kinds of ameliorant and the second factor was three levels of K fertilization. The result suggested that amelioration with dolomite and steel slag increased K buffering capacity (PBCK) due to the increase in cation exchange capacity (CEC) and Ca and Mg concentration of the soil solution.Conversely, amelioration decreased equilibrium activity ratio of K (ARKe) due to alteration of K-Ca?Mg equilibrium. Amelioration, however, did not affect labile-K, except for Cigudeg soil. The application of K fertilizer increased K availability in terms of ARKe and labile-K. Those three soil families performed different changes in K availability effect, where soil with higher CEC showed smaller change than the lower one, also tended todecrease K buffering capasity (PBCK). The implication of this study is amelioration practice must be followed by K fertilization in order to avoid plant deficiency in K nutrient.

Abstract

Despite all benefits of technology, a young child who is exposed to two languages through early media viewing may experience language development problems. It may consequently lead one to undergo therapies which can be counterproductive to their developmental milestones, especially to their dual language development. This research aims to gain deeper insights into the impacts of early media viewing on a young child's early dual language acquisition. A case study of a young dual language learner experiencing language development problems diagnosed as symptoms of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was conducted by interviewing participant’s parents to gain preliminary data about his language development problems. Observations took place during 108-hour language intervention sessions. The finding shows that early dual language exposure through early media viewing without adequate social interaction with peers and adults pertinently results in language development problems which are prone to be interpreted as symptoms of ASD rather than as a natural process of bilingualism.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Wilayah Kedung Grombyang yang terletak di Jalur Pegunungan Selatan Jawa menunjukkan indikasi keterdapatan endapan logam polimetalik. Berdasarkan pencitraan relief shaded gravity, menunjukkan daerah ini terletak pada  kelurusan Yogya-Bayat-Pacitan yang membentuk garis melengkung berarah barat-tenggara. Keterdapatan batuan-batuan magmatik dan kelurusan sesar, dapat dijadikan sebagai asumsi awal untuk melokalisasi daerah yang berpotensi cebakan mineral. Eksplorasi cebakan mineral masih terus dilakukan di Pegunungan Selatan oleh perusahaan multinasional dan perusahaan pertambangan lokal, namun sampai sejauh ini belum  ada daerah yang teridentifikasi memiliki cebakan yang besar seperti Gunung Pongkor. Sedikitnya pengendapan emas di Kedung Grombyang daripada di Gunung Pongkor dikarenakan oleh perbedaan magma asal, yang dicerminkan oleh perbedaan variasi mineralogi batuan volkanik di kedua wilayah dan karakter fluida hidrotermal. Di samping batuan andesitik, di Kedung Grombyang juga terdapat batuan basaltik dan dasitik. Sedangkan strukturnya relatif sama, karena kedua wilayah dipengaruhi oleh zona sesar utama yang mengontrol keterdapatan cebakan mineralisasi di Pulau Jawa. Batuan terubah filik dan propilitik yang dicirikan oleh pembentukan muskovit merupakan fenomena umum di wilayah Kedung Grombyang, sementara itu tidak dijumpai di Gunung Pongkor. Fenomena ini selaras dengan data pengukuran mikrotermometri dimana Kedung Grombyang dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan dengan suhu pembentukkan urat yang lebih tinggi daripada Gunung Pongkor. Pengayaan supergen yang intensif di wilayah Gunung Pongkor memiliki korelasi yang baik dengan mineralisasi emas yang kaya. Kasus ini tidak terjadi di wilayah Kedung Grombyang. Tulisan ini akan mendiskusikan karakter alterasi dan mineralisasi polimetalik di wilayah Kedung Grombyang dengan endapan emas Gunung, dalam hubungannya dengan mineralisasi di Pegunungan Selatan Jawa, khususnya di segmen timur, berdasarkan metode petrografi, mineragrafi dan inklusi fluida.

Abstract

Potentials  of Rice Waste as Alternative Energy Sources in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The purpose of this study is to analyze the energy potential of rice processing waste (rice straw and rice husk) in the province of Southeast Sulawesi. Grain production data used the results of the Central Statistics Agency of Southeast Sulawesi publication as well as the Central Statistics Agency of the Regency / municipality of Southeast Sulawesi. To determine the pattern of utilization of rice processing waste at the farm level, the research team conducted a survey in several locations that produce rice in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The data used for analysis were grain production in 2010 – 2018. Based on the grain production, rice straw and rice husk production were calculated, then the energy potential of the two rice processing wastes can be determined. The results of the analysis show that the average production of rice straw was 823, 665 tons; rice husk was 119,289 tons, estimated energy potential of rice straw = 9,600GJ / year and rice husk = 1,700 GJ /year

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui total intensitas radiasi matahari dan mengetahui presentase radiasi normal dan difusi. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua metode, pertama adalah pendekatan secara teori dan kedua adalah pengukuran langsung. Alat  yang digunakan dalam pengukuran langsung yaitu Solar Power Meter (SPM), untuk mengukur intensitas radiasi total matahari, dan GPS untuk mengetahui koordinat lintang dan bujur serta ketinggian dari permukaan laut . Radiasi matahari dihitung dari pukul 07.00 sampai 17.00. Hasil pengukuran langsung menunjukkan bahwa nilai intensitas radiasi matahari tertinggi pada pukul 12:00  dengan nilai intensitas matahari  870,5 W/m2 dan terendah pada pukul 17:00 dengan nilai intensitas radiasi matahari 79,5 W/m2.  Untuk pendekatan teori diperoleh nilai radiasi matahari tertinggi pada  pukul 12:00  dengan nilai intensitas matahari 953,15 W/m2 dan terendah pada pukul 7:00 dengan nilai intensitas radiasi matahari 143,98 W/m2. Nilai radiasi sorot dan difusi ditentukan dengan  perhitungan teori, dimana besar radiasi sorot tertinggi pada  pukul 12:00  dengan nilai intensitas matahari  835,09 W/m2 dan terendah pada pukul 7:00   dengan nilai intensitas radiasi matahari  82,93 W/m2.  Nilai radiasi difusi tertinggi pada  pukul 12:00  dengan nilai intensitas matahari  118,06 W/m2 dan terendah pada pukul 07:00 nilai intensitas radiasi matahari 61,06 W/m2.  Radiasi sorot memberi 83,5 % intensitas radiasi matahari dan 16,2 % diperoleh dari  radiasi difusi.  Kata Kunci : Energi Matahari, Pengukuran Langsung, Pendekatan Teori.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to optimize the isolation method of cocoa bean lipase. The research is held by determining the position of lipase on cocoa bean, varying extraction medium and isolation process. The result shows that the lipase of cocoa bean is   cytosolic enzyme. The defatting process do not increase the lipase activity. Polyphenols inhibit the lipase activity, so that removal of the polyphenol will increase the activity. Blocking the polyphenol with polyvinilpolypirrolidone (PVPP) will also increase the activity.The optimum consentration of PVPP is 8 %. The lipase activity will reach the highest when homogenized for 10 menit at 10,000 rpm. The best medium extraction for lipase isolation is 0.15 M phosphate buffer pH 7.5 containing sucrose 0.6 M and CaCl  1.0 mM.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimasi isolasi lipase indigenous biji kakao. Optimasi diawali dengan menentukan keberadaan lipase kemudian optimasi medium ekstraksi dan proses ekstraksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lipase berada dalam sitosol. Penghilangan lemak tidak meningkatkan aktivitas lipase. Senyawa polifenol menghambat aktivitas lipase dan penghilangan polifenol dapat meningkatkan aktivitas lipase. Polyvinilpolypirrolidone (PVPP) dapat menghambat polifenol sehingga dapat meningkatkan aktivitas lipase. Konsentrasi PVPP optimum adalah 8 % dari berat biji kakao. Proses homogenisasi optimum diperoleh dalam waktu 10 menit pada kecepatan 10.000 rpm. Medium ekstraksi untuk isolasi lipase biji kakao terbaik adalah bufer fosfat 0,15 M  dan pH 7,5 yang mengandung sukrosa 0,6 M dan 1,0 mM CaCl .

Abstract

The aim of the research was to find the highest activity of cocoa bean lipase during germination. The lipase activity was determined every day for 10 days germination period. The result indicated that the highest hydrolysis activity of the extracted lipase was found at the 3th day of germination =  0,138 U/gram bean and that of esterification was at 4th day =  0,252 U/gram bean. During germination, bean weight and fat content decreased while water content increased. Free fatty acid and soluble protein were in fluctuation during germination.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan aktivitas tertinggi lipase biji kakao selama perkecambahan. Aktivitas lipase dianalisis setiap hari selama 10 hari perkecambahan. Lipase terekstrak menunjukkan aktivitas hidrolisis tertinggi dari perkecambahan 3 hari = 0,138 U/gram biji dan aktivitas esterifikasi pada perkecambahan 4 hari = 0,252 U/ gram biji. Aktivitas esterifikasi lebih tinggi dibandingkan hidrolisis selama perkecambahan. Berat biji, kadar lemak mengalami penurunan selama perkecambahan, sedangkan kadar air mengalami peningkatan. Asam lemak bebas dan protein terlarut berfluktuasi selama perkecambahan.

Abstract

Desa Manukaya termasuk salah satu desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Tampaksiring, Kabupaten Gianyar. Jarak desa tersebut dari kota Denpasar adalah ± 40 km dengan waktu tempuh ± 1 jam. Mata pencaharian sebagian besar penduduk Desa Manukaya adalah petani.. Salah satu hasil pertanian yang sedang berkembang di Desa Manukaya adalah pertanian sagu dan sudah terdapat kelompok Tani (KT) ’Abian sari’ yang terdiri dari 18 orang petani sagu. Permasalahannya pada saat panen raya, produksi sagu berlimpah sehingga harga jual menjadi rendah karena tidak semua dapat diserap oleh pasar diharapkan kelompok PKK dan KT dapat bersinergi dalam mensuplai dan mengolah sagu menjadi produk olahan yang bermanfaat dan bernilai gizi tinggi. Metode pemecahan masalah yang digunakan berupa pengenalan dan pelatihan pembuatan produk olahan tepung sagu menjadi stik sagu keju dan pengemasan sampai pada pelabelannya. Hasil yang didapatkan bahwa kegiatan penyuluhan, pelatihan serta pendampingan pembuatan produk produk olahan tepung sagu menjadi stik sagu keju berjalan dengan baik dan sesuai rencana dimana KT Abian Sari sudah mampu memproduksi produk olahan tersebut dengan baik. Pengemasan dan pelabelan pada produkpun sudah dapat dikerjakan dengan baik dan dihasilkan produk dengan identitas dan penampilan yang menarik Kata kunci : Kelompok Tani Abian Sari, Desa Manukaya, Tampaksiring, Tepung Sagu, Stik Sagu Keju

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effect of wheat flour comparison with red bean sprout flour on the characteristics of pancakes and to determine the exact concentration of red bean sprout flour that was able to produce pancakes with the best characteristics. This study used a randomized block design with the ratio of flour and red bean sprouts (100%: 0%, 60%: 40%, 50%: 50%, 40%: 60%, 30%: 70%), repeated three times to obtain 15 units of experiment. The data obtained were then analyzed by variants and if there was any effect on the treatment, then continued with Duncan test. The variables observed were moisture content, ash content, protein content, fat content, carbohydrate levels, coarse fiber content, and sensory characteristics. The results showed that the addition of red bean sprout effected moisture content, ash content, protein content, fat content, carbohydrate content, crude fiber content, colour, aroma, taste, texture, and overall acceptance of pancake. The best characteristic of pancake substitution was 50% wheat flour and 50% red bean sprout flour that produced moisture content 36.14%, ash content 1.86%, fat content 24.15%, protein content 8.31%, carbohydrate content 29.53 %, crude fiber content 16.81%, light brown colour (liked), typical aroma of red beans (liked), soft texture (liked), flavour of red beans (liked), and overall acceptance (liked).
