Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the toxicity of red betel  (Piper crocatum) extract in diabeticwhite rat based on ALT and AST activities. This research used 20 male white rats, which randomlydivided into five groups, P1: given only aqua; P2: given alloxan 120mg/kg bw; P3: given alloxan 120 mg/kgbw and red betel leaf extract 50 mg/kg bw; P4: given alloxan 120 mg/kg bw and red betel leaf extract 100mg/kg bw; P5: given alloxan 120 mg/kg bw and glibenclamide suspension 1 mg/kg bw. ALT and ASTactivities were measured by using reflovet plus Machine. The collected data were analyzed by usinganalysis of covariance. The result showed no significant  effect (P>0.05) was observed on giving red betelleaf extract in diabetic white rat for ALT and AST activities.  It can be concluded that red betel leaf extractis potential for diabetic treatment in white rat  and it is not toxic for the rat’s ALT and AST activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan kimia dan sedimentasi urin kucing lokal yang hidup bebas berkeliaran di sekitar Kota Denpasar. Sampel yang digunakan adalah urin kucing yang diambil secara acak dan digunakan sebagai latihan bedah cystocentesis dan kateterisasi. Sebanyak delapan ekor kucing jantan dan delapan ekor kucing betina dewasa sampel urinnya diambil dan dimasukkan ke dalam pot steril, lalu dilakukan pengamatan kimia urin dengan pemeriksaan menggunakan dipstick yang memiliki 10 paramater yaitu leukosit, nitrit, urobilinogen, protein, pH, darah, berat jenis (spesific grafity), keton, bilirubin, dan glukosa. Pemeriksaan dipstik dilakukan dengan cara mencelupkan stik ke dalam masing-masing sampel selama 0,5-1,0 menit hingga seluruh parameter terendam, kemudian diangkat dan ditaruh di media datar yang telah dilapisi tissue lalu ditunggu selama tiga menit hingga parameter berubah warna dan diulangi sebanyak tiga kali. Setelah dilakukan pemeriksaan kimia urin menggunakan dipstick, sampel urin kucing di dalam tabung reaksi diendapkan dengan menunggu dan mendiamkan sampel urin tersebut semalaman dalam tabung yang diposisikan secara tegak lurus. Setelah 20 jam diendapkan, kemudia endapan tersebut diambil dan diletakkan di atas objek glass lalu diperiksa menggunakan mikroskop cahaya dengan perbesaran 400 kali. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian observasional yang menekankan pada pengamatan kuantitas/ jumlah zat dan sedimentasi yang terdapat didalam sampel urin kucing. Dari 16 sampel yang diperiksa, semua sampel negatif terhadap pemeriksaan leukosit, nitri, urobilinogen, dan darah. Protein ditemukan pada 75% sampel kucing, Glukosa 1+ ditemukan pada 6,25%, dan masing-masing 100% positif pada pemeriksaan ketone dan bilirubin. Sedangkan rata-rata berat jenis urin kucing bernilai 1,022 dan pH urin bernilai 6,75. Selanjutnya dari hasil pemeriksaan sedimentasi urin, 11 sampel ditemukannya crystal dan casts urin yang terdiri dari Calcium oxalate monohydrate, triple phosphate, Magnesium Amonium Phosphate, Kumpulan Kristal Struvite, dan Lipid droplets. Dari pemeriksaan sampel tidak ada perbedaan signifikan antara kucing jantan dan betina.

Abstract

This study sought to assess the effects of simultaneous Gleptoferron and Toltrazuril administration on hematological parameters, health status, and growth performance in pre-weaned piglets. A total of 54 piglets aged 1 to 3 days were randomly allocated into three groups: a control group receiving a placebo injection, a group administered iron (Ferdex), and a group injected with Gleptoferron in conjunction with Toltrazuril (Forceris). Hematological markers, morbidity, mortality, and body weight growth were evaluated during a 20-day duration. The findings indicated that the administration of Gleptoferron and Toltrazuril markedly elevated red blood cell (RBC) counts, hemoglobin concentrations, and hematocrit levels relative to the iron-only group, without an increase in total white blood cell (WBC) counts, suggesting the absence of post-injection infection. Moreover, pigs administered Forceris did not develop hypochromic anemia and had a reduced incidence of diarrhea (6.7%) with no mortality, indicating enhanced gut health and excellent coccidiosis prevention. Significantly, pigs administered Forceris exhibited a weight gain of 9 kg at 20 days of age, in contrast to 7.9 kg in the iron-only cohort. The results indicate that the simultaneous use of Gleptoferron and Toltrazuril provides more advantages in avoiding anemia, improving growth, and fostering better health outcomes in pre-weaned piglets than iron supplementation alone. This efficient and pragmatic approach has significant ramifications for enhancing production in pig breeding operations
