Abstract

Penentuan kadar glukosa darah anjing kintamani menggunakan Accu-check Active dilakukan di laboratorium Patologi Klinik Veteriner, Fakultas Kedoktern Hewan Universitas Udayana. Sampel darah diambil dari 50 ekor anjing kintamani untuk menentukan kadar glukosa acak dan 10 ekor untuk mengetahui kadar glukosa darah puasa dan dua jam setelah makan. Sampel darah diambil dari vena chepalica. Anjing yang dipilih sebagai sampel adalah anjing kintamani milik penduduk di daerah Denpasar dan Kintamani. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan rerataan kadar glukosa normal darah anjing kintamani secara acak sebesar 86,62 mg/dl  19,09, jantan adalah 84,10 mg/dl  19,11  dan betina 89,81 mg/dl  19,01..  Pada keadaan puasa kadar glukosa darah anjing kintamani adalah 73,4 mg/dl  5,98,   jantan 74 mg/dl  2,82 betina 73 mg/dl  7,69. Kadar glukosa darah anjing kintamani dua jam setelah makan sebesar 75,6 mg/dl  6,13, jantan 76,25 mg/dl  2,36 dan  betina 75,76 mg/dl 7,98. Hasil ini masih berada dalam kisaran normal berdasarkan standar acuan Graham. Dengan demikian Accu-check Active dapat dipakai untuk menentukan kadar glukosa darah anjing kintamani.

Abstract

Parasitic infections are inseparable from the epidemiological triangle, namely host, agent and environment. Bali cattle as host of parasitic agents are affected by infection by environmental conditions in the village of Baturiti. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and intensity of parasitic infections in cattle from the Niti sari farmer group in Baturiti village. A total of 55 Bali cattle in Niti Sari farmer group cattle were used as samples. Stool samples are taken to check for the presence of parasites and predict the amount of parasitic load that infects. The method of checking the presence of parasites by floatation test and prediction of parasitic load by the Stool method. The results obtained were the prevalence of Coccidia protozoa 52.73% (29/55), Entamoeba sp.16.36% (9/55), Balantidium sp.20.9% (6/55) with intensity of infection respectively 1255.17 ± 964.82 oocysts/gram, 233.3 ± 250 cysts /gram and 150 ± 83.67 cysts/gram feces. The prevalence of Strongyl worm eggs is 61.82% (34/55), Strongyloides sp. 23.64% (13/55) and Toxocara sp. 18.18% with an infection intensity respectively of 420.59 ± 233.26 eggs/gram, 253.85 ± 64.55 eggs/gram and 130 ± 48.3 eggs / gram. Conclusion of Bali cattle in the farmer group Niti Sari Baturiti village infected with the parasitic protozoa Coccidia, Entamoeba sp and Balantidium sp. with low to moderate intensity. Infection by Strongyl, Strongyloides sp. and Toxocara sp. nematodes with low intensity.

Abstract

Dermatitis complex is a disease of inflammation at the skin caused by two agents or more. Extract of soursop, neem, and gotu kola are known to have an effect that can help cure complex dermatitis. Blood is an important indicator for knowing body health status, so the patient's hemogram needed to know. This research aims to find out the hemogram of dermatitis complex dogs treated by a mix of extract soursop, neem, and gotu kola. This research used three sample dogs that suffer complex dermatitis, which smeared with extract for 15 days. Blood collection was done at 0 day, three days, seven days, and 15 days of treatment. Blood testing was done by the Animal Blood Counter iCell-800Vet machine. The hemogram result indicates fluctuation in hemogram component, preference rise of leukocyte and lymphocyte, and anemia.

Abstract

Areca nut is a plant of Arecaceae family, known as herbal medicine and useful as an anthelmetic treatment. The aim of this research was to determine hepar toxicity of the Areca nut extracts given to male white rats by measuring ALT and AST. The doses of extracts were 100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, and 400 mg/kg body weight respectively. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance. The results showed that no significant effect of ALT and AST enzymes found in the treatment groups. Betel nut extract in those concentration was not toxic in the male white rats.

Abstract

Aktivitas tubuh seperti latihan yang intensif berlebih menyebabkan tubuh membutuhkan oksigen sangat banyak, sehingga memicu timbulnya radikal bebas yang dapat merusak berbagai organ salah satunya hati. Guna mencegah kerusakan sel-sel hati akibat radikal bebas, diperlukan usaha-usaha untuk memberikan asupan antioksidan dari luar. Salah satunya adalah kulit pisang kepok. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui perubahan kadar Alanin Aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartat Aminotransferase (AST) serta gambaran histologi hati tikus putih yang diberikan ekstrak kulit pisang kepok serta latihan fisik intensif. Penggunakan 27 ekor tikus yang terbagi atas 3 kelompok, perlakuan diberikan selama 28 hari. Sampel darah dan organ hati diambil pada hari ke-29. Sampel darah diuji menggunakan metode fotometrik sedangkan sampel hati diperiksa melalui preparat histologi dengan metode pewarnaan hematoksilin eosin (HE). Data hasil penelitian diuji menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pemberian ekstrak kulit pisang kepok pada tikus putih yang diberikan latihan intensif renang berpengaruh nyata dapat menurunkan kadar ALT, AST, dan dapat mengurangi terjadinya degenerasi dan nekrosis hati. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak kulit pisang kepok dapat mencegah kerusakan hati akibat latihan fisik intensif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak pegagan terhadap total eritrosit, kadar hemoglobin, dan packed cell volume pada tikus putih jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 ekor tikus putih jantan dengan berat badan ± 300 gram dan umur 12 minggu. Tikus ini kemudian dibagi dalam 5 perlakuan yaitu kelompok OA, OB, OC, OD, dan KT.  Masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 3 ekor tikus. Kelompok  OA: 100 mg/ekor (0,2 ml); OB: 200 mg/ekor (0,4 ml); OC: 300mg/ekor (0,6 ml); OD: 400mg/ekor (0,8 ml) dan KT sebagai kontrol diberikan aquades 0,2 ml. Pemberian ekstrak pegagan diberikan secara oral setiap hari selama 7 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak pegagan dari dosis 100 mg/ekor, 200 mg/ekor, 300 mg/ekor, dan 400 mg/ekor berpengaruh secara nyata terhadap gambaran peningkatan total eritrosit, PCV, tetapi tidak mempengaruhi kadar hemoglobin jika dibandingkan dengan control yaitu masih dalam batas normal.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve Bali cattle's efficiency and productivity by measuring ovarian follicles and vaginal temperature in Bali cattle that experienced a silent heat using ten bali cattle with normal estrus and bali cattle that experience a silent heat. The research samples were divided into two groups: Bali cattle that showed normal estrus (grup I) and Bali cattle that experienced a silent heat (grup II), with each group consisted of 5 replications. Furthermore, all the cows were measured for vaginal measurements at the time of estrus and 24 hours after estrus. While ovarian follicles are measured at the time of estrus. The results showed that the average vaginal temperature of Bali cattle was 38.40 ± 0.130 C and 38.04 ± 0.130 C respectively for Bali estrus cattle and Bali cattle which experienced a silent heat and statistically showed a significant difference (P<0.05). The Bali cattle follicles' average diameter is 10.60 ± 1.14 and 7.32 ± 0.37 mm, respectively, for the normal estrus and which experience a silent heat, and statistically show a significant difference (P<0.05). From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the vaginal temperature of bali cattle with normal estrus is higher than that of bali cattle which experience a silent heat, and ovarian follicle diameter in normal estrus is greater than the diameter of the ovarian follicles of bali cattle that experience silent heat.

Abstract

Curcuma (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) is one of the medicinal plants, which is widely used by the community, including used a lot in animals because it has many benefits for health. The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of the addition of curcuma flour on the feed toward the activity of ALT and AST on the broiler. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 24 female broilers aged 14 days which were divided into four groups, namely group P0 (normal feed without addition of curcuma flour), P1 group (curcuma flour 10gr/kg of the feed)), P2 (curcuma flour 20gr/kg of the feed)), and P3 (curcuma flour 30gr/kg of the feed)). After 35 days, the blood is taken through the brachial vein using 5ml syringe. Then, the examination of ALT and AST activity is conducted by using Photometer 5010. The data were analyzed by using ANOVA. The results showed that the addition of curcuma flour in broiler's feed did not affect the activity of ALT and AST (P>0.05). From the study, it can be concluded that the addition of curcuma flour in broiler's feed the dose 10 gr/kg of feed until 30 gr/kg of feed for 21 days were still classified as safe dosage.

Abstract

This study aims to determine about the histology structure and the morphometry white blood cells agranulocytes (lymphocytes and monocytes) of Bali cattle in Nusa Penida. A sample of blood from 50 female calves, had been taken through a jugular vein. The blood samples were fixed and colored by using Giemza staining method. The morphometry measurement was performed with was done under Axio Zeiss Imager 2 microscope with 1000x magnification. The results of the measurements were analyzed descriptively quantitatively, while the histology description was analyzed by qualitative descriptive. The results showed average mean lymphocyte diameter (9.22 ± 0.73µm) was smaller than monocytes (12.48 ± 1.73 µm). The existence of the lymphocyte and monocytes histologic structure difference which are found in the nucleus. The lymphocyte nucleus was round and filled the cytoplasm, whereas the monocyte nucleus formed a curve on one or two sides, thus, it did not fill the cytoplasm.

Abstract

Bali cattle is germplasm that must be maintained. Various efforts have been made, such as breeding, so that the population can be improved. In the breeding, management of pregnancy will be the main thing to get attention. The gestation period in cattle is an important situation in health management. In this period, physiological status must be in good condition to ensure birth and get calf or calf, which is strong enough and able to survive. Cattle who are pregnant usually tend to weak and vulnerable diseases. This study was conducted to determine the disruption of organs or body functions earlier before showing signs of pain. Blood parameters observed from 28 cows were: The total erythrocytes, the total leukocytes, Packed Cell Volume (PCV), Hb, differential leucocytes (lymphocytes, neutrophils, basophils, eosinophils, and monocytes), Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobine (MCH), Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobine Concentration (MCHC), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV). Blood was taken from the jugular vein. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance, with an analytical procedure using the SPSS program. The study results that the hematology of Balinese cattle at each pregnancy phase in Sobangan Badung Breeding Center is not different from non-pregnant cows.
