Abstract

Stunting is a form of malnutrition that occurs as a result of improper child- rearing practices that cause a child to lack nutrition from the womb until the first thousand days of life. In 2021, 24.4% of Indonesian toddlers still experience stunting. One of the causes is a culture that is not in line with healthy living behaviors. This study will answer the question of what culture has an impact on the stunting cases in Indonesia? The research method used is descriptive qualitative with literature study as the basis for its data. The results of the research show various cultural roles both adaptive and ideational cultures that contribute to stunting. Adaptive cultures that play a role in stunting include hustle culture, working mothers, and education. Meanwhile, ideational cultures that still have an impact on stunting until now include beliefs, early marriage, incorrect feeding, and incorrect feeding methods. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide a contribution to the study of public health and more effective health promotion in the future.

Abstract

Fire is often employed to destroy evidence in criminal cases, posing the challenge for forensic experts and forensic anthropologists in determining the cause of death and the victim's identity. Although soft tissue can be completely burned during the burning process, trauma on bone can persist up to a certain temperature and duration of burning. Detecting trauma on the bones after the burning process is crucial, as it can provide insights into the actual cause of death. Therefore, this study was conducted with the objective of assessing whether the identification of perimortem bone trauma after burning process is feasible through a systematic review of prior research. The finding of this investigation reveal that fracture type, texture, colour, shape, and alterations in bone dimensions can serve as indicators to differentiate between perimortem trauma occurring after the burning process and postmortem trauma resulting from burning.

Abstract

Institutional and social pressures on police officers often lead to violations of the code of ethics. This study aims to determine how institutional and social pressures can encourage ethical violations committed by police officers. This research is a qualitative study based on in-depth interviews with seven informants to explore and precisely describe the social phenomena that occur. The theory of anomie and the new institutional theory serve as the analytical tools in this research to produce unique and comprehensive findings. The research findings affirm that there are two types of police in responding to institutional pressure: police who view institutional pressure as a whip to work harder, and police who feel pressured by that pressure. In addition to institutional pressure, police also face social pressure in the form of demands to meet public expectations, which include: (1) police as 'all- knowing gods'; (2) police as superheroes for the community; and (3) police acting as influencers. The disparity in access and resources among police officers in meeting institutional and societal expectations drives some members to experience ethical conflicts that result in violations of the code of ethics. In institutional theory, ethics should serve as a tool to regulate behavior. In reality, this is hindered by unequal access and resources for each member within an institution, in this case, police officers. As a result, police officers who do not have adequate access and resources are driven to commit ethical violations to respond to institutional and social pressures.

Abstract

Abstract Since the WHO declared the COVID-19 pandemic on December 1, 2019, the first group to be laid off were migrant workers. For migrant workers who are laid off one way is to return to their country of origin, including Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). For PMIs who work undocumented, they must be deported. PMI departed undocumented, mostly from Sampang, Madura, East Java. The number of PMI from Sampang who have been deported since COVID 19 took place was 886 people. To respond to this situation, research on improving the survival mechanism of the post-employee PMI in marketing the products of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the use of social media in the district of Sampang, Madura, East Java, contributes to their survival. This research method begins with conducting a Focus Group Discussion to map out the difficulties of post-employee PMI in marketing products so that they can find the right marketing solutions, especially through the use of social media. The FGD involved stakeholders among retired PMIs such as the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (SBMI), the industry office, BP2MI, the cooperative service, village heads, religious leaders from Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and youth organizations. Furthermore, in-depth interviews and observations were carried out. The last stage is to analyze the data that correlates the data with the theory used in reviewing the survival mechanism, namely community empowerment. The result of the research is that the recycled handicraft products of garbage and chips, crackers and various types of food using mass media as a medium to disseminate local product marketing content will be optimized by residents, so that local residents get sufficient correct and useful information as a reference. One of the uses of PMI's post-duty mass media is making the Shopee application. They have learned to make products for social media, starting with compiling video scripts, designing marketing posters, and packaging. Shopee has various types of promo programs that buyers can enjoy, such as discount promos and free shipping. Thus, the retired PMI will be trained to produce and market their business as their survival mechanism. Keywords: survival mechanism, former Indonesian migrant workers, micro small and medium enterprise Abstrak Sejak ditetapkan pandemi COVID-19 oleh WHO pada tanggal 1 Desember 2019, menjadi kelompok pertama yang diberhentikan adalah pekerja migran. FGD melibatkan stakeholder dikalangan PMI purna tugas seperti Serikat Buruh Migran Indonesia (SBMI), dinas perindustrian, BP2MI, dinas koperasi, kepala desa, tokoh agama Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) dan karang taruna. Abstract

Abstract The large number of sending migrant workers abroad indicates that the problem of migrant workers in East Java is of course very complex. One of them related to the problem is the children of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). The problems that arise are vulnerable to the influence of criminality such as brawls, drugs, free sex and pregnancy before marriage. This is why special attention needs to be paid to children whose parents have left them as Indonesian migrant workers (BMI). To respond to this situation, this research is very important with the problems faced by children of migrant workers (APM). Therefore, this study identifies problems faced by children who are abandoned by migrant worker parents, as well as programs that have been developed in Purwodadi village, Donomulyo sub-district, Malang district, one of which is the development of short film production for APM as a vehicle for creativity. and means of communication with parents abroad. The next part of this research is in-depth interviews and observations, whether so far the making of short films can be accessed openly by APM until now. The next stage is to analyze the data that connects the data with the theory used in assessing the responsibilities of surrogate parents, the community and the government in providing protection for children's basic rights in the form of making short films. APM who are members of the community, have collected APM's perception and creativity in terms of survival and child development. For this reason, the production of short films is a collaborative governance program between Non-Governmental Organizations, namely LPKP, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), parents as PMI, APM and village government in this case posyandu cadres. Keywords: children of Indonesian migrant workers, problems of children of migrant workers, collaborative governance Abstrak Banyaknya pengiriman jumlah pekerja migran ke luar negeri menandakan permasalahan pekerja migran di Jawa Timur pun tentunya sangat kompleks. Abstract

Abstract  The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia remains alarmingly high, with West Kalimantan being one of the provinces with significant rates. One of the contributing factors is the limited parental knowledge of nutritional needs during pregnancy, compounded by the persistent practice of early marriage. This study aims to analyze the relationship between early marriage practices and stunting prevalence in Singkawang, West Kalimantan, while exploring the potential integration of a gender-sensitive curriculum as a preventive strategy. This qualitative study employs a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and participatory observations involving parents, school-aged adolescents, university students, and community leaders in Singkawang. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns linking early marriage practices with stunting prevalence and to formulate key elements for a relevant gender-sensitive curriculum. The findings reveal that early marriage directly impacts stunting prevalence through the inadequate biological and psychological readiness of adolescent girls for pregnancy and childbirth. Additionally, limited access to reproductive health and nutritional information exacerbates this risk. The study highlights the critical role of a gender-sensitive curriculum as a preventive intervention to enhance awareness among adolescents and parents about the impact of early marriage on stunting. This research contributes to the development of education-based strategies to reduce stunting prevalence, particularly through the implementation of gender-sensitive curricula in secondary schools. The study's implications include improving maternal and child health outcomes and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to health and education.. Abstract

During the pandemic in Indonesia, 43 cases of forced retrieval of COVID-19-confirmed bodies and attempts to bury them by their families were recorded in online media. In 2020, 31 cases occurred and in 2021, there were 12 cases until April. This study aims to describe the religious culture on bereavement of the community towards death due to COVID-19 where the community retrieves the bodies by force. This study used qualitative method. Data were collected from randomly selected online media. Interviews with hospital morticians were conducted to complement data on forced body retrieval and similar previous studies. The results show that religious and cultural values are the driving factors for forced body retrieval. On the other hand, factors such as stigma and misinformation are allegedly reinforcing the act of forced body retrieval. The lesson learned from this is to involve cultural and religious systems along with the implementation of health protocols when treating patients with confirmed COVID-19. However, this must be balanced with adequate information for the community.

Abstract

Research Objectiveness: The understanding of marriage is the process of binding, both physically and spiritually, between a man and a woman to become husband and wife aimed at forming a lasting, harmonious, and happy family based on the belief, this research aims to identify and analysis merariq culture in the aspects of socio-culture, legal, and health. Methods: This research is qualitative research using descriptive analysis. Qualitative study aims to explore the endogamous marriages in Mungkik, Pandan Wangi Village, Jerowaru Subdistrict, East Lombok, involved 24 women and girl (married, unmarried, and widower). Research findings: East Lombok's marriages are primarily merariq, a deeply ingrained tradition in the Sasak community. Elopement often arranged by parents, demonstrating bravery and maintaining family relationships. However, endogamous marriages in Merariq families can lead to health issues and genetic disorders. Among them, 75% of participants were admitted to endogamous marriages among relatives, and some parents forbid their children from marrying relatives due to guilt. Merariq marriages are decreasing due to the rupture of family ties. Elopement is a traditional rational action, low-risk, and based on customs and traditions. However, the community is unaware of the health risks and lacks prior socialization.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the factors behind the rise of early marriages in Bondowoso Regency which can be at risk of causing stunting; study the knowledge possessed by women in early marriage, reproductive health, and child-rearing; as well as conduct studies on stakeholder wars in alleviating early marriage as well as stunting. This study uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques using in-depth interviews. The research location is in Pujer District, Bondowoso Regency. Determination of informants using purposive sampling consisted of several mothers who had stunted toddlers, village heads, clerics, to the head of the KUA Pujer District. The results of the study show that early marriage is still a risk factor that causes stunting in children. The dispensation of marriage, liking each other, arranged marriages, and avoiding adultery are the reasons why there are still early marriages here. Other factors that cause stunting apart from early marriage are knowledge, upbringing, socioeconomic conditions, and sanitation which factors that indicate stunting in Bondowoso Regency. The role of stakeholders in internalizing the community through an approach that is following their cultural characteristics plays a very important role in reducing the number of early marriages as well as stunting. However, if it is not accompanied by the efforts of the main actors to understand the impact of this early marriage, it can be indicated that stunting will still exist in Bondowoso Regency.
