Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze household-scale hydroponic lettuce farming in Ka-kaskasen II Village, Tomohon District. This research was conducted for 3 months from March to May 2022. The study location was in Kakaskasen II Village, Tomohon District. The data used in this study were primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through a questionnaire that had been prepared, and the respondents in this study were owners of hydroponic lettuce businesses in Kakaskasen II. Secondary data were obtained from related institutions and literature related to the study.Based on the processed hydroponic lettuce farming data, a revenue of Rp.3,393,966 was ob-tained, supported by an R/C Ratio value of 3.11, which means that for every Rp.1 expenditure, hy-droponic lettuce farming will generate revenue of Rp.3.11. Break Even Point analysis in this case can be seen from two sides, namely the production quantity/BEP (Q) and the selling price/BEP (Rp). Hydroponic lettuce farming in this study obtained (Q) of 7.6 and (Rp) of Rp.383,264.84, so hydro-ponic lettuce farming in Kakaskasen II is at the break-even point, where the farming does not make a profit but also does not incur a loss.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the relationship between income and consumption patterns of rural and urban communities in North Sulawesi. Data analysis in this research was carried out descriptively. The descriptive research method is a research method that provides a general description of the object being studied, such as looking at the movement of each research variable, one of which is by describing the movement of each research variable in the form of a table or graph. The consumption patterns of rural and urban communities show diversity. On average, between 2018-2022, rural communities in North Sulawesi, except for rural areas in Bitung City, allocate more expenditure to non-food consumption than to food consumption. Furthermore, of the eleven districts and four cities in North Sulawesi, only urban communities in Minahasa Regency, Talaud Islands, Manado City, Tomohon City and Kotamobagu City have a greater percentage of expenditure on non-food consumption than food consumption. This phenomenon indicates that apart from income, there are other factors that influence people's consumption patterns in both rural and urban areas in North Sulawesi.

This research was conducted from March to September 2022. The method used in this research is a survey method. The selection of the research location was carried out purposive, namely the area which is the center of organic strawberry production in North Sulawesi. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. Primary data includes: (1) performance of organic strawberry agribusiness, (2) synergy of strawberry agribusiness subsystems in North Sulawesi, and (3) role of pentahelix in organic strawberry development. Secondary data is in the form of supporting data for this research. The data collection techniques used were (1) using questionnaires, (2) observation, (3) interviews, (4) Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and (5) documentation. The analysis used in this research is descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that the application of organic farming has not been fully implemented because respondents still use chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Strong integration of strawberry agribusiness development has not been created between sub-systems either vertically or in terms of. Agribusiness development desigm follows the Services Rationalization collaboration pattern, namely increasing the role of the service sector that is related to agribusiness subsystems. Increasing the role in the form of increasing the role of academics as a attracting sector and as a facilitator, the role of the Government as a supporting sector, the role of the media as a source and dissemination of information, the role of farmer associations as a driving sector and the business sector which consists of all agribusiness subsystems other than agriservices as the implementing sector. Further engineering in the Pentahelix collaboration in the development of strawberry agribusiness then put forward three main components, namely the business component, the academic component, and the support component.
