Abstract

Household waste tends to end up in landfills as waste and can damage the environment, but with good management, it can be processed into materials with economic value. Waste materials such as vegetable waste or fruit peels can be processed into a multipurpose eco-enzyme liquid. Eco-enzyme is an organic compound in the form of a complex solution produced from the fermentation process of waste materials in the form of fruit and vegetable peels. How to make it is very easy and can be done by anyone. Because of its content, eco enzyme has many ways to help the natural cycle such as cleaning polluted water. This eco-enzyme can be used as an ingredient in making liquid antiseptic soap. This liquid antiseptic soap is the right solution to reduce water pollution in the environment. This community service activity was carried out to provide insight to mothers on increasing the utility value of organic waste through the application of eco-enzyme as a raw material for making antiseptic soap. Based on the results of organoleptic tests, the antiseptic soap produced has an aroma, color, moisture, viscosity, smoothness, and amount of foam that is liked by the community. This is proven by the organoleptic test, where the average percentage of very like and like was 100%.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the performance of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) in reducing exhaust gas opacity, smoke temperature and noise levels on the 1997 Isuzu Panther. The DPF used in this research is made of copper and stainless steel with a metallic honeycomb model. This experimental study involved installing a DPF on a standard diesel vehicle exhaust system and measuring exhaust emissions, smoke temperature and noise levels. The measuring instrument used to test the opacity and temperature of the exhaust gas is a smoke opacity meter based on the SAE-J1667 test procedure (snap acceleration test procedure). Meanwhile, to test the noise level, a sound level meter based on ISO/FDIS 5130:2006 (E) standard was used. Tests were carried out under various conditions including standard exhaust testing (Non-DPF), standard exhaust with DPF (DPF), DPF with 50 gram stainless steel material (DPF + SS50), DPF with 100 gram stainless steel material (DPF + SS100), and DPF made of 150 gram stainless steel (DPF + SS150). The test results showed that DPF had a significant effect on reducing exhaust opacity, smoke temperature and noise level of the 1997 Isuzu Panther. The greatest reduction in exhaust opacity, smoke temperature and noise level were produced by DPF + 150 gram stainless steel with exhaust opacity that could be reduced by 87, 1 ± 1.1%, smoke temperature of 43.2 ± 1.7%, and noise level of 15.2 ± 1.3%. These findings open up opportunities for the development of DPF technology that is more efficient in reducing diesel vehicle emissions, contribute to stricter emissions regulations, and support filter design innovation to improve air quality and reduce the negative impact of vehicles on the environment. In addition, the results of this research show that the use of DPF is in accordance with the diesel vehicle emission threshold regulations set in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Community Service Program was carried out at the Harapan Farmers Group, Kereng Bangkirai Sub-district, Palangka Raya City, as an effort to provide innovative solutions to pest attack problems that often reduced fruit farm productivity. Previously, farmers had relied on manual pesticide spraying, which required considerable time, labor, and cost, and posed health risks. To address this challenge, the service team from the University of Palangka Raya developed an automated pest control system that was able to regulate pesticide spraying independently and efficiently. The activities were conducted through stages of socialization, training, and system mapping of automation in the fruit farm area, involving members of the farmers group actively. The implementation results showed an increase in participants’ understanding of the technology by 30–40 percent, improved efficiency in pesticide use by up to one-third compared to manual methods, and a reduction in working time by nearly 50 percent. This activity not only improved farmers’ skills and productivity but also served as a concrete step toward the implementation of sustainable smart farming in Palangka Raya through collaboration between the university and the community.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete using Sandblasting Sand waste and to determine whether concrete using Sandblasting Sand waste can be used as a rigid pavement material. To achieve these objectives, experimental research was carried out in the laboratory using 10 beam specimens. The coarse aggregate used was a combination of Banjarmasin Gravel and Merak Gravel with a proportion of 50% each. There are two variations of the mixture, namely a concrete mixture using Tangkiling Sand and a concrete mixture using Sandblasting Sand. From the test results, it was obtained that the concrete mixture using Tangkiling Sand had an average compressive strength of 22.57 MPa and a flexural strength (fs) of 36.33 kg/cm2. The concrete mixture using Sandblasting Sand has an average compressive strength of 26.55 MPa and flexural strength (fs) of 39.40 kg/cm2. Concrete mixtures with proportions of 50% Banjarmasin Gravel and 50% Merak Gravel, both using Tangkiling Sand and Sandblasting Sand do not meet the requirements for use as rigid pavement because they do not meet the minimum flexural strength of 45 kg/cm2 as required.
