Abstract

Mangrove crabs (Scylla Serrata) are important products on a small scale in australia and asia. High economic value is the advantage of mangrove crab (Scylla Serrata) commodity. The needs of local and international markets are increasing. This pattern is a big challenge. The purpose of this study is to analyze the molting crab molting time (Scylla Serrata) with different salinity training and to find the efficiency of controlled containers with different salinity. The type of research used is experimental research. The design used is a completely randomized design (CRD) with three preparations and three replications using a controlled container. The treatment consists of different salinity methods with the 20 ppt, 25 ppt, 30 ppt salinity settings. The crab used is mangrove crab (Scylla Serrata) with hard carapace. The test parameters are the length of time of molting, mangrove crabs, from hard-crested crabs to increased, molting with different salinity methods. Data obtained from the differences in the length of time of mangrove crab molting using a variety of assistance were verified in quantitative descriptive. The results of this study indicate that the 30 ppt salinity training method is the training that produces the best molting, which is 15-25 days compared to other conservation. While controlled containers show the results that mangrove crabs (Scylla Serrata) can live in containers with clean air systems with salinity and rotated water systems, controlled containers provide advantages in terms of funding, price, and environmentally friendly for the maintenance of mangrove crabs.

Abstract

Green mussel (Perna viridis) is one of the biological resources that have high economic value in Indonesia. This green mussel thrive in the gulf waters, the waters around mangroves area, and estuaries, with a muddy and sandy waters in the environment condition, with light and moving water, and salt levels are not too high. This is because of the green mussel is easy and relatively fast incultivation.Based on the results of the study, concluded that the physical parameters of water chemistry there is no difference between treatments real and viable for aquaculture activities for collectors of differentmaterials on the abundance and growth of green mussel (Pernaviridis). Abstract

Developing a regional resilience index for natural disasters is essential for systematically monitoring resilience performance and supporting evidence-based policymaking. Strengthening regional resilience is particularly critical for West Java Province, given its high exposure and vulnerability to multiple hazards. This study aims to construct a comprehensive framework of regional disaster resilience indicators and to assess the level of resilience across the province. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and the PROMETHEE (Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation) for multi-criteria analysis. Secondary data were obtained from Statistics of West Java Province, while the SLR was conducted using the Scopus database complemented by manual searches. A total of 77 selected articles yielded 22 principal indicators of regional disaster resilience, classified into five dimensions: economic, social, ecological, infrastructure, and institutional. The assessment reveals that several indicators—particularly within the ecological, infrastructure, and institutional dimensions—demonstrate relatively low performance across districts and cities. Based on 17 equally weighted indicators, the ranking results identify Cimahi City, Bandung City, and Cirebon City as the three most resilient regions in the province. Meanwhile, Tasikmalaya City, Cianjur City, and Indramayu City ranked lowest in terms of disaster resilience. These findings provide an empirical basis for stakeholders and policymakers to evaluate regional resilience capacity and formulate integrated action plans and targeted mitigation strategies to support sustainable and adaptive regional development.

Abstract

The low-wage workers play a vital role in supporting in Indonesia's economy but remain highly vulnerable and are often excluded from social protection policies. This study aims to profile low-wage workers and provide insights for policymakers to improve social protection measures. The research utilizes repeated cross-sectional microdata from the National Labor Force Survey (Survei Angkatan Kerja Nasional/Sakernas) between August 2018 and August 2023, a logistic regression model with marginal effects was applied to identify key characteristics of low-wage workers. The findings show that the primary characteristics of low-wage workers are low education levels and working fewer than 20 hours per week. This group is predominantly female, unmarried or divorced, and from younger generations (Gen Z). They are often employed in the informal sector, lacking specific skills, and are mostly working in agriculture. The COVID-19 pandemic worsened their vulnerabilities, amplifying economic risks that persist post-pandemic. The policy implications include expanding educational opportunities to enhance workers' employability, followed by implementing skill training and job placement programs. Additionally, extending minimum wage coverage to both formal and informal sectors, along with offering flexible work arrangements and subsidized childcare, particularly for women, can further support these workers. Furthermore, extending social protection to include social security and healthcare, with incentives for employer contributions, is essential. During crises, policies prioritizing healthcare access, income support, and job protection are crucial for ensuring the economic security of low-wage workers and reducing inequalities.

Abstract

The sustainability of rice farming as a strategic commodity is determined by many factors that have different roles. This study aims to present a structural analysis as an instrument for identifying and classification factors that affect the Sustainable Regional Development Rice Farming in the present and future perspectives using the Matrix of Cross Impact Analysis (MICMAC) method. From the analysis, it is known that the factors from the institutional dimension and the technological dimension have the most influence in achieving results in the present and the future. These factors are 1) policy regulations at the national, provincial, and district/city levels; 2) digital transformation/agriculture 5.0; 3) development of social and technological innovation; 4) transformation and institutional collaboration; 5) availability of agricultural infrastructure and facilities in rice fields; 6) the rate of adoption of innovation and technology by farmers; and 7) farmers who are members of farmer groups. Meanwhile, the factors with a very high dependence are factors from the social dimension and the economic dimension. The factor of productivity of paddy fields per year has a very high dependence on the present, while it will increase the welfare of farmers in the future. The results of this structural analysis can be used as input in the development of a road map for the availability and price stability of rice and improve the sustainable welfare of rice farmers.

Abstract

Sumatra Island has shown a strong economic performance in terms of its contribution to the national GDP. However, the island still has seven underdeveloped regions. This situation is further exacerbated by a high percentage of poverty in each of these underdeveloped areas. This research aims to map the progress of poverty in these underdeveloped regions of Sumatra Island using the Klassen typology, and to analyze the faktors influencing poverty in these regions through panel data regression analysis. The mapping analysis conducted using the Klassen typology consistently places North Nias Regency in the quadrant with a high poverty percentage and low per capita gross regional domestic product (PDRB) throughout the study period. Meanwhile, most other regencies have shifted their quadrant positions. The panel data regression analysis results indicate that significant faktors reducing poverty include the length of well-maintained roads, the Human Development Index (HDI), capital expenditure, and per capita PDRB. On the other hand, the open unemployment rate (TPT) significantly increases poverty. Social assistance spending does not have an effect on poverty in the underdeveloped regions of Sumatra Island.

Abstract

The protection of Karakelang wildlife sanctuary has been challenged by forest encroachment, timber harvesting and wildlife poaching - all of which are attributed to social economic condition of the communities living in the vicinity. A community based conservation program was delivered to strengthen communities’ role in maintaining forest integrity while making good income from sustainable agriculture. This action research using mixed methodology evaluates the influence of program delivery in changing the knowledge, attitude and practice of forest protection and sustainable agriculture among beneficiaries in three villages. Data was collected using structured interview, while other supporting information was taken from project reports and field notes. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test reveals that program has influence in changing the knowledge of respondents in both forest protection and sustainable agriculture, as well as in the change of attitude and practice regarding sustainable agriculture. However, it does not have influence in changing their attitude and practice toward forest protection. As shwon by economic indicator, program has contributed in providing new source of income to farmers household. The result of logistic regression shows that age, education, land ownership and income has influence in the change of people’s knowledge about forest biodiversity. Only age has influence in change of attitude towards sustainable agriculture, and only land ownership has influence on support to forest protection.
