Abstract

This community service activity is a form of effort to support the government program "Healthy Communities that are Independent and Just. The target subjects for partners in this community service activity are the people in Kamal Village, Arjasa District, and Jember Regency. Preliminary studies have been carried out and show that the incidence rate in the village is very high. Thus, health checks and health promotion in an effort to control blood sugar levels through the use of natural germplasm are very necessary. The health checks that will be carried out include random blood sugar checks (GDS). The education provided can include understanding the causes, signs and symptoms, risk factors, and types of healthy nutrition to prevent and control complications of diabetes mellitus. Early screening can be done by carrying out laboratory examinations in the community. After the examination, it was discovered that some people experienced hyperglycemia and some experienced hypoglycemia. Through this activity, the public can understand the material presented and can find out their health status so that early prevention can be carried out.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a condition of abnormalities in blood glucose metabolism that can cause various macroangiopathy complications such as disorders of the peripheral blood vessels, heart blood vessels, cerebral blood vessels as well as microangipathic complications such as diabetic retinopathy disorders, nephropathy and neuropathy. HbA1c describes the level of sugar in the blood for the last 3 months. Glucose is not found in normal urine because it is reabsorbed back into the blood vessels by renal filtration. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between HbA1c levels and glucosuria in people with diabetes mellitus. The design of this study is a cross-sectional approach to DM patients. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out by means of Spearman's rank correlation test. Results Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between HbA1c levels and glucosuria in DM patients p-value 0.005 with a coefficient value of 0.597. The conclusion from this study is that there is a significant relationship with a strong correlation strength and a positive correlation direction for DM sufferers.

Abstract

Sleep quality is a state lived by an individual to produce freshness and fitness after waking up. If a person's sleep quality is poor it will cause a decrease in the body's immune system and Hb levels which causes the individual to feel easily tired, sleepy and susceptible to disease. Adolescents are identified as a population at high risk of experiencing sleep problems which disrupt sleep quality. Accumulated work and lifestyle are one of the factors causing poor sleep patterns in adolescents which makes it easier for them to experience sleep disturbances. Adolescents with high risk certainly need adequate knowledge regarding the importance of maintaining quality sleep related to the body's immune system and Hb levels. Increased knowledge and examination can be carried out by laboratory personnel with health counseling and laboratory tests. The purpose of this community service is to increase the knowledge of adolescents to maintain good quality sleep so that Hb levels and body immunity are maintained. This community service implementation method consists of three stages, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. At the implementation stage, an examination of Hb levels and counting the number of types of leukocytes was carried out as well as education related to the effect of sleep quality on Hb levels and the body's immune system. As a result of community service, adolescents have obtained health status through laboratory tests and good knowledge about the effect of sleep quality on Hb levels and body immunity.

Abstract

Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled cell proliferation. The upregulation and activation of the Cyclin-Dependent Protein Kinase 6 (CDK6) signaling pathway can induce unregulated breast cancer cell proliferation. Therefore, CDK6 inhibition continues to be developed as a potential target for drug design and development to treat breast cancer. This study aims to predict the biofunction of anthocyanin compounds from purple corn extract as inhibitors of Cyclin-Dependent Protein Kinase 6 (CDK6) using an in silico approach. The research methods included data mining, ligand and receptor preparation, molecular docking, docking visualization, and data analysis. Our results indicate that six compounds from purple corn extract (cyanidin, cyanidin 3-glucoside, pelargonidin-3-glucoside, pelargonidin, peonidin, and peonidin-3-glucoside) can bind to CDK6 at the C-terminal and N-terminal domains. The binding pattern suggests that cyanidin, cyanidin 3-glucoside, pelargonidin-3-glucoside, pelargonidin, peonidin, and peonidin-3-glucoside interact with CDK6 residues in the same manner as Palbociclib (control). This finding indicates that compounds from purple corn have the potential to act as competitive CDK6 inhibitors. Peonidin-3-glucoside exhibited the lowest binding energy of -282.5 kcal/mol, approaching that of Palbociclib (-329.4 kcal/mol).

Abstract

Burns are caused by chemicals, hot liquids and fires. Burns cause skin tissue necrosis, thus removing cell components including heat shock protein (HSP), monosodium urate, high-mobility group box protein 1 (HMGB1), extracellular ATP, and mitochondrial DNA including nucleic acids which are referred to as Damage Associated Molecules. Patterns (DAMPS). DAMPS cause increased infiltration of inflammatory cells into tissues. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of trigona honey (Trigona sp) based on inflammatory cell infiltration in rats (Rattus novergicus) with the burn model. The research method was to group into 5 groups, including KN (negative control), K-1 (burns + placebo), K-2 (burns + silver sulfadiazine), K-3 (burns + 50% trigona honey), and K-4 (burns + 100% trigona honey), then stained with Hematoxylin Eosin (HE) to see the presence of inflammatory cell infiltration. Statistical analysis using the Kruskal Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Microscopically (inflammatory cell infiltration score) it showed that the KN group had a score of 0, group K-1 had a score of 4, group K-2 had a score of 2, groups K-3 and K-4 had a score of 4 and 2. statistically, there was no difference between groups. The conclusion of this study is that 100% trigona honey can reduce inflammatory cell infiltration in the dermis area of skin that has experienced burns. Keywords: burns, trigona honey, silver sulvadiazine ABSTRAK Luka bakar disebabkan oleh bahan kimia, cairan panas, dan kebakaran.

Abstract

Typhoid fever remains a public health issue in Indonesia, especially among elementary school children who are vulnerable due to poor hygiene habits, particularly not washing hands. Traditional education methods often fail to change children's behavior, so more engaging and interactive approaches are needed. This activity aimed to improve handwashing behavior through educational games. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design was used. The intervention involved 40 students from SDN 1 Dono, Tulungagung, using games like hygiene-themed snakes and ladders and handwashing step cards. Evaluation was conducted through pretest and posttest assessments and group discussions with teachers. Results showed a significant improvement in the intervention group from 70% (poor category) to 83% (good category), with a p-value of 0.000. In contrast, the control group showed no significant change (p = 0.213). Educational games proved effective in improving students’ handwashing behavior and can be a preventive strategy against typhoid fever in schools.
