Abstract

Depression in adolescents, especially high school students, is a serious mental health problem with significant impacts on psychological well-being, academic performance, and social life. Risk factors such as academic pressure, family conflict, negative mindset, and social media addiction contribute to the increasing prevalence of depression. Early detection in the school environment is a critical step to prevent adverse effects such as self-harm and suicidal ideation. Depression in adolescents is multifactorial and requires a holistic approach. Early detection through symptom screening, mental health education, and school-family-professional collaboration are essential preventive strategies. Recommendations include the integration of mental health modules into the school curriculum and teacher training for early risk identification.

Abstract

Self-management is a crucial factor that contributes to the reduction of academic procrastination. This study aims to investigate the relationship between self-management and academic procrastination among 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 OKU. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the study sampled 156 students selected through simple random sampling using Slovin’s formula from a total population of 254 students. The data were collected using questionnaires comprising scales for both self-management and academic procrastination. Analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation method. Findings revealed that the levels of self-management and academic procrastination among the students were 42% and 40%, respectively, both falling within the moderate category. The correlation coefficient was calculated at -0.772 with a significance level of 0.000 (p 0.05), demonstrating a statistically significant negative correlation between self-management and academic procrastination. This indicates that an improvement in students’ self-management skills is associated with a decrease in their academic procrastination tendencies.

Abstract

Abstract

High school adolescents are in a vulnerable developmental phase towards emotional and behavioral problems due to rapid biological, cognitive, and social changes. Limitations in emotional management can trigger the emergence of problematic behavior, such as aggressiveness, violations of school rules, conflicts with peers, and bullying, both directly and through digital media. This article aims to analyze problematic behavior in high school adolescents from the perspective of emotional conditions. This study used a qualitative approach with a literature review method of 20 national and international scientific articles obtained through Google Scholar and analyzed descriptively-thematically. The results of the study indicate that adolescent problematic behavior is influenced by the interaction of individual, family, school, and social environment factors that are increasingly complex. Low emotional regulation and emotional intelligence increase the tendency for maladaptive behavior, while family support, a conducive school climate, and Guidance and Counseling services act as protective factors. Therefore, a holistic and sustainable approach is needed through strengthening emotional intelligence, preventive Guidance and Counseling services, and the development of life skills to support the social-emotional development of adolescents.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing cases of verbal aggression among children and adolescents, which have a significant impact on their psychological well-being and social environment. The aim of this study is to analyze the tendencies, causal factors, and impacts of verbal aggression in children and adolescents, as well as to provide effective recommendations for its management. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach, examining various scientific journals related to verbal aggression, verbal abuse, and the influencing factors. The main findings show that verbal aggression often arises due to family factors, social environment, media, and socioeconomic pressures; this behavior not only increases the risk of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem in victims but also has long-term negative effects on the perpetrators. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of early detection and the active roles of teachers, parents, and school counselors in preventing and managing verbal aggression through communication skills education, psychological interventions, and strengthening school policies to create a safe learning environment that supports the social-emotional development of children and adolescents.

Abstract

Teenage brawls have become an increasingly urgent social issue, considering the destructive impact they cause. This study aims to explore the causes and negative impacts of student brawls through a literature review. By analyzing 20 related academic articles, it was found that the triggers of brawls can be divided into two main dimensions. The internal dimension includes factors such as deindividuation, identity crisis, and low self-regulation, while the external dimension encompasses ineffective parenting styles, peer influence, and provocation through social media. The impact of brawls is significant, not only on physical aspects and fatalities but also on psychological disturbances, moral decline, stigmatization, and serious legal consequences. This study concludes that a comprehensive intervention approach is needed, involving school counseling services, education on better parenting, and community monitoring to reduce the tendency for teenage aggression. This strategy is expected to address the root causes of brawls in a more structured and effective manner, creating a safer environment and supporting positive teenage development.
