Abstract

Based on WHO data, the incidence of postpartum blues is 30-75%, depression in postpartum mothers is 10-15% and psychosis is 0.1%-0.2%. The brain responds to stressors by sending information to the hypothalamus which causes the adrenal glands in the cortex to produce cortisol as a stress hormone, pathologically the sympathetic nervous system responds to this by increasing blood pressure, chronic fatigue and vasoconstriction. Hypnotherapy can be an alternative for holistic prevention and treatment in reducing anxiety so as to prevent the release of the hormone cortisol in postpartum mothers. Hypnotherapy targets the parasympathetic nervous system to stimulate an increase in all functions of the sympathetic nervous system that react to anxiety. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of hypnotherapy intervention on anxiety levels and cortisol levels in the serum of post-cesarean section postpartum mothers. The research method used was a Quasy Experiment with a pretest-posttest with control group design. The study was conducted in August - September 2024 at the Dr. Salamun TNI Hospital in Bandung City. The sample in this study was 50 post-cesarean section postpartum mothers using a probability sampling method, namely the simple random sampling technique, 25 treatment respondents and 25 control respondents. The target output that will be produced is an article published in an accredited journal.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common complaint frequently experienced by adolescent girls, which may negatively impact daily activities and quality of life. This study aims to determine the effect of abdominal stretching on menstrual pain intensity in adolescent girls. A quasi-experimental method was employed with a pretest-posttest design without a control group. The study population consisted of 88 students from grades X and XI at SMAN 1 Penawartama, with 42 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation and interviews using a numerical pain scale. The findings revealed that the average pain intensity before abdominal stretching was 3.00, which decreased to 1.00 after the intervention. The Wilcoxon test produced a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect of abdominal stretching in reducing menstrual pain. These results suggest that abdominal stretching can be a practical, non-pharmacological alternative therapy that is easily applied independently by adolescents. The study recommends the incorporation of abdominal stretching exercises in school physical education curricula or adolescent reproductive health programs.

Abstract

Efforts to promote child health aim to reduce the mortality rate of newborns, infants, and toddlers. One way to decrease the mortality rate among children under five is by enhancing the skills of healthcare workers in providing care through the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness approach. Implementing this approach effectively and on a wider scale can be cost-effective and significantly contribute to reducing the death rate among neonates, infants, and children under five. The aim of this study is to provide care management for sick toddlers through integrated management of childhood illness approach. This study is a case study that employs a descriptive observational method to examine the application of the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness approach. The subject of the case study is a 4-year 8-month old toddler. The study took place at PMB Siti Nuraeni in September 2023. Data was collected directly (primary data) using the Varney management approach and documented using the SOAP format (subjective data assessment, objective data assessment, data analysis, and case management). The collected data was then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The study concludes that data analysis is conducted by assessing subjective and objective data of a 4-year-8-month-old toddler, who has a cough but no pneumonia. The care for subject, is provided in line with the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness approach. The study recommends that midwives should be able to observe and detect early signs of danger that may occur during the growth and development of toddlers.
