Abstract

Challenges in the 21st century are increasingly complex, technology is developing rapidly and competition is getting tougher. Therefore we need quality human resources that can keep up with and anticipate the times. The use of technology involves computational thinking (CT) skills which are closely related to the problem-solving process. The stages in computational thinking are part of mathematical thinking, meaning that learning mathematics can support students' CT skills. Through the development of digital pedagogical models in CT integrated mathematics learning, it can improve problem-solving skills. This research uses  design based implementation research with 4 phases including; preliminary research, prototyping, results, and design principle. The participants were 28 grade 8 junior high school students who took part in two rounds of experiment in direct CT activities and digital CT activities. In this paper, we present an iterative mathematical problem-solving process in the digital pedagogy model. The computational task, environment, tool and practices were iteratively improved over two rounds to incorporate CT effectively in mathematics. The results from CT environment demonstrated that direct CT activities are more effective than digital CT activities in mathematical problem-solving.  Based on empirical research, we summarize the characteristic of the digital pedagogy model from computational tasks, computational environment and tools, and computational practices in mathematical problem solving.

Abstract

Artikel ini menyajikan hasil penelitian tentang keterkaitan antara kemampuan Computational Thinking siswa dan kecerdasan logis matematis. Hal ini dilakukan karena computational thinking sangat diperlukan dalam menumbuhkan kecerdasan logis matematis. Metode yang digunakan dalam artikel ini adalah literature review. Penulis melakukan pengkajian terhadap beberapa artikel terkait, kemudian memahami masing-masing isinya dan melakukan penarikan kesimpulan berdasarkan kesamaan antara indikator kemampuan computational thinking dan kecerdasan logis matematis. Hasil kajian terhadap beberapa artikel menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan selaras antara kemampuan computational thinking dengan kecerdasan logis matematis. Seseorang dengan kemampuan computational thinking dalam proses pemecahan masalah akan berusaha merumuskan kembali atau merinci suatu masalah menjadi bagian yang lebih sederhana sehingga mudah untuk diselesaikan. Hal tersebut sangat erat hubungannya dengan tingkat kecerdasan logis matematis, karena seseorang dituntut akan ketelitian pengamatan, penilaian pemahaman, dan kemampuan memprediksi kejadian yang berurutan secara alami. Rekomandasi dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya kegiatan pelatihan untuk mempelajari atau mengkaji bagaimana menggunakan computational thinking dan kecerdasan logis-matematis sebagai alat yang efektif dalam proses belajar mengajar matematika This article presents the findings of a study examining the relationship between students' computational thinking abilities and their logical mathematical intelligence. This exploration is warranted due to the critical role computational thinking plays in fostering logical mathematical intelligence. The methodology employed in this article is a literature review. The author systematically reviewed several pertinent articles, analyzing their contents and synthesizing conclusions based on the commonalities between the indicators of computational thinking abilities and logical mathematical intelligence. The results of the analysis indicate a positive correlation between computational thinking abilities and logical mathematical intelligence. Individuals with strong computational thinking skills tend to decompose complex problems into simpler, more manageable components, facilitating the problem-solving process. This aptitude is closely linked to logical mathematical intelligence, which requires individuals to be meticulous in their observations, assess their understanding, and predict events in a coherent and sequential manner. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that training programs be implemented to teach and enhance the use of computational thinking and logical-mathematical intelligence as effective tools in the mathematics teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Online dan offline merupakan isu yang belakang muncul ke permukaan terutama dalam dunia dunia pendidikan. Kemunculan pandemi covid-19 menjadi pemicu pemerintah memberlakukan pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara daring. Saat itulah muncul beragam tanggapan baik dari para pakar pendidikan, para pendidik baik guru maupun dosesn, terutama dari orang tua dan siswa pada tingkat sekolah dasar dan menengah pertama. Ketersediaan infrastruktur telekomunikasi dan aspek sosial menjadi argumentasi bagi para penentang pembelajaran online, belum lagi dari aspek ekonomi orang tua yang keberatan untuk menyedian smartphone sampai ke pulsa data. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keterlibatan mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran online di Universitas YPIB Majalengka. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survey yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa tingkat III dan IV Universitas YPIB Majalengka. Kuesioner terdiri dari 25 pernyataan yang disusun berdasarkan skala keterlibatan siswa online (Online Student Engagement Scale) yang dikembangkan oleh Marcia D. Dixson. Berdasarkan data hasil survey yang telah diperoleh diketahui bahwa proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara online pada mahasiswa menunjunkkan keterlibatan mahasiswa yang cukup baik. Terdapat 4 faktor keterlibatan dalam pembelajaran online, yaitu keterampilan, emosi, partisipasi, dan kinerja. Keterampilan adalah gaya belajar, seperti belajar secara teratur, mendengarkan dan membaca dengan cermat, atau mencatat. Emosi adalah keadaan perasaan tentang belajar, seperti usaha atau keinginan untuk belajar. Partisipasi adalah perilaku dalam kursus, seperti mengobrol, berdiskusi, atau bercakap-cakap. Kinerja adalah suatu hasil, seperti nilai atau mengerjakan ujian dengan baik. Hasil penelitian tingkat keterlibatan mahasiswa ini dapat dijadikan bahan evaluasi untuk pelaksaan pembelajaran pada masa yang akan datang.

Abstract

Effectiveness of Digital Technology on Enhancing Mathematics Achievement of Indonesian Secondary Schools Students’: A Meta-analysis Research from 2018-2023. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the impact of digital technology on the mathematics achievement of Indonesian secondary school students through a meta-analysis. Methods: This study used a meta-analytic research design. A comprehensive literature search was conducted through Google Scholar to find relevant studies published from 2018 to 2023. The PRISMA flow diagram documented each stage of study selection, resulting in ten studies meeting the inclusion criteria. Data analysis involved calculating effect sizes using descriptive quantitative and categorizing results into small, moderate, or significant levels to provide a comprehensive summary of digital technology’s impact across various educational levels and mathematics topics. Findings: The analysis revealed that digital technology had a moderate positive effect on students’ overall mathematics achievement, with an average effect size of 0.417. Digital technology was more effective for junior high students with an effect size of 0.499, compared to a lower impact for senior high students with an effect size of 0.091. Among the topics analyzed, “Set” showed the highest effect size at 0.733, while “Limit of Algebraic Functions” exhibited the lowest at 0.136. Conclusion: The meta-analysis revealed that digital technology has a moderate effect on enhancing mathematics achievement among Indonesian secondary students. Digital tools are more effective for visual and conceptual topics than for abstract concepts and benefit junior high students more than senior high students. These findings highlight the need for tailored digital strategies based on content type and student level. Abstract

Salah satu tantangan terbesar dalam mengakselerasi peningkatan kemampuan numerasi siswa adalah bagaimana membiasakan siswa dengan masalah-masalah numerasi. Hal ini membutuhkan kemampuan guru untuk mengembangkan instrumen tes kemampuan numerasi (TKN) yang dapat dengan tepat memotret kemampuan numerasi siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyajikan proses pengembangan instrumen TKN dan mendiskusikan validitas teoritik dan empirik dari butir soal yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian pengembangan dengan tahapan pengembangan meliputi analisis pendahuluan, pengembangan desain awal instrumen dan validasi teoritik, uji coba lapangan dan validasi empirik, dan interpretasi dan revisi instrumen. Hasil penelitian menyajikan proses pengembangan instrumen secara detail berdasarkan setiap langkah pengembangan yang telah ditetapkan. Interpretasi dan pembahasan hasil uji validitas baik secara teoritis maupun empirik juga disajikan. Dalam hal ini, argumentasi atas butir-butir yang tidak valid terutama didiskusikan dan disajikan alternatif rekomendasi perbaikan butir instrumen.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of using a Flowgorithm on computational thinking and mathematical problem-solving abilities. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test control group. The research was conducted in two phases: the programming phase and the mathematical phase. The research population consisted of all 8th-grade students from Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Bali Province, Indonesia, with sampling conducted using a cluster random sampling technique. The sample size was 34 students (14 students in the control group, 20 students in the experiment group). Data on computational thinking and problem-solving abilities are collected using tests. Data analysis used MANCOVA, followed by a post hoc test, and the effect size was described using the partial eta squared coefficient. The results show that there are significant differences between the two groups. The results of the post hoc test showed that the post hoc test results indicated that mathematics learning assisted by Flowgorithm significantly influenced computational thinking abilities. At the same time, no differences were observed in problem-solving abilities. Although the effect on mathematical problem-solving abilities was not significant, no negative impact was found from integrating Flowgorithm. These findings have implications for integrating computational thinking concepts in the curriculum and/or mathematics learning.

Abstract

Test content-based proof of validity is a type of evidence that supports the validity of a measuring instrument. This research aims to develop a mathematical problem-solving assessment instrument utilizing five experts. This study is classified as developmental research and follows a research design that includes two separate stages: the preliminary design stage and the prototype stage. However, its application is restricted to Prototype 1 and Prototype 2, specifically for expert evaluation. This instrument was designed explicitly for grade VIII students studying mathematics, covering all the topics from the odd semesters. The analysis progressed through three distinct stages "” curriculum analysis, content analysis, and context analysis "” each contributing to a comprehensive understanding of instructional resources. The study sought to narrow the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in mathematics education by incorporating real-world context. Surveys have revealed difficulties in answering mathematical problems, highlighting the need to address gaps in learning to improve competency. The careful and thorough construction of test instruments, considering factors such as validity, established the foundation for creating accurate assessment tools. The content validity assessment by the expert panel, with scores ranging from 0.817 to 0.884 based on the V-Aiken category, confirms that the instrument is vital in assessing students' mathematical problem -solving skills, and the implementation of this study yielded many valuable insights for educators and academics. This study helps improve mathematics education resources and evaluations to promote mathematical thinking.

Abstract

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) berperan penting dalam kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, sosial, ekonomi, kesehatan, industri, dan berbagai aspek kehidupan. Integrasi STEM dalam pendidikan sangat diperlukan untuk menghasilkan generasi berdaya saing global. Workshop berbasis STEM bagi MGMP Matematika SMA di Kabupaten Banyumas dan Kabupaten Cilacap serta mahasiswa UIN Prof. K.H. Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan praktik STEM, memperluas penyebaran hasil pelatihan, meningkatkan kompetensi guru, serta memotivasi guru untuk mengembangkan keterampilan mereka. Program ini mencakup perencanaan, pelaksanaan workshop, pendampingan dalam pembuatan rencana pembelajaran STEM, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi dokumentasi hasil kerja peserta, serta kuesioner untuk mengetahui respons peserta terhadap kegiatan ini. Data dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas pelatihan. Dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ini, peserta diharapkan dapat mengintegrasikan STEM dalam pembelajaran matematika, melaksanakan pembelajaran berbasis pemrograman, dan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir matematis siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul berbasis digital pada mata kuliah Teori Grup. Hal ini dilakukan karena selama pandemic COVID-19 pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara tatap maya. Setelah pandemi berakhir, model pembelajaran yang memungkinkan dilaksanakan adalah secara Hybrid. Di samping itu saat ini sedang berjalan pertukaran mahasiswa antar program studi antar universitas (kegiatan MBKM) yang merupakan salah satu Kebijakan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan. Untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan tersebut diperlukan bahan ajar berbasis digital/Modul digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and development (R&D) di mana menciptakan bahan/materi ajar dan diuji keefektifan dari sebuah skema rancangan bahan ajar. Dari penelitian telah dihasilkan bahan ajar (modul) untuk 14 pertemuan, PPT untuk 14 pertemuan, 14 video pembelajaran untuk 14 pertemuan, infografis sebanyak tujuh buah, media audio sebanyak enam buah, contoh soal UTS, contoh soal UAS, dan hak cipta bahan ajar infografis.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of mathematics learning using Computational Thinking (CT) integration and to enlighten educators, researchers, and policy makers on the tactics, benefits, and challenges involved in incorporating CT into mathematics education by synthesizing existing research and educational initiatives. Using the systematic literature review (SLR) method with a qualitative approach, the results of this research were in the form of descriptive analysis. The database used was Scopus to filter relevant material about CT and mathematics education. Based on the search, nine publications from 2019 – 2023 were selected systematically based on the PRISMA protocol. This study's results indicated a relationship between CT and several students' mathematical abilities, such as problem-solving and improving problem-solving skills. Not only can it improve the cognitive side of students, but CT can also improve students' affective side, such as increasing creativity, confidence, and involvement in the learning process. The impact felt is not only in the micro scope (in the classroom), but can also be macro. CT can improve the quality of higher learning, so CT research can be used to determine a country's curriculum.
