Abstract

Breadfruit chips are an example of post-harvest processing of breadfruit yields. Generally, breadfruit is only sold in the market in its raw form which has many drawbacks such as low selling price, and short shelf life, the fruit is easily damaged during the transportation process until rot occurs in the fruit. Processing breadfruit into breadfruit chips can help increase the profit margins you get. Breadfruit also has a certain harvest period or what is known as a seasonal plant can quickly experience decay so that post-harvest processing is deemed necessary to keep the product able to have a long shelf life. Tenggir Village, Panji District, Situbondo Regency is one of the villages with a relatively large number of breadfruit trees. Villagers already have the desire and enthusiasm to use the breadfruit by processing it into breadfruit chips. There is a need for community service to empower village potential and design solutions that will be offered to the community. The purpose of this program is to provide alternative solutions for simple postharvest processing of agricultural products and increase the production capacity of the breadfruit chips home industry. The result of implementing this program is an increase in one of the breadfruit chip processing home industries with indicators of increasing production capacity and business turnover. Greater support in science and finance could be scaled up to support more targeted and significant business development.

Abstract

The patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) is a tropical herbaceous plant that produces essential oil. One of the problems is that the production is not yet optimal. Fulfillment of superior seedlings can help increase patchouli productivity. Conventional patchouli propagation through stem cuttings is ineffective and takes longer. Patchouli propagation can be done using a tissue culture approach via direct organogenesis to produce seedlings quickly and efficiently. Effective patchouli propagation methods and successful acclimatization are very important to research to support the propagation and breeding of patchouli plants. The aim of this research was to determine the best of BAP concentration in direct organogenesis of leaf and stem explants. The research design used a completely randomized series of hormone BAP, it has 5 levels, namely 0 mg/L (as control), 0.25 mg/L, 0.50 mg/L, 0.75 mg/L, and 1.0 mg/L. The explants used were the leaves and stems of Aceh patchouli. Plantlets are acclimatized in compost media and covering treatment. Based on the results of observations, the best BAP concentration is 0.25 mg/L with the initial observation parameters of the early emergence of shoots, number of shoots, and length of shoots on leaf explants were 10 daps, 35.33 shoots, and 2.83 cm respectively. The use of leaf explants showed a better response compared to stem explants. Patchouli plantlets were successfully acclimatized and can adapt to the ex vitro environment using the covering method. Successful patchouli propagation and high acclimatization can help produce effective patchouli seeds.

Abstract

Identification of Indonesia sugarcane varieties tolerant to waterlogging has not been done extensively. Information on varieties tolerant to waterlogging is required for seedling establishment in waterlogged areas. The purpose of this research was to identify the sugarcane varieties responses to several duration levels of waterlogging at seedling stage. The planting materials used were collection of Sugar Factory Semboro including VMC 76-16, BL, PS 862, PS 864, and PS 881. This research was arranged in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factor was 5 varieties; the second factor was waterlogging treatment with four levels, i.e. without waterlogging, 2, 4, and 6 weeks of waterlogging in the bucket. The results showed different level of tolerance to water logging among the varities. PS 881 and VMC 76-16 varieties were the most tolerant to waterlogging supported by its ability to maintain plant height, root volume, root and shoot dry weight after been waterlogged for 6 weeks. These varieties were also able to establish aerenchyme tissue and increased the stomatal density. PS 862 was the least tolerant variety to waterlogging. Keywords: aerenchyme, morphology, stomatal density, waterlogging, water stress

Abstract

Abstract

The districts of Situbondo, Bondowoso and Jember are the centers of residence for the Pandalungan community. Pandalungan community is a society with mixed cultures, namely Java and Madura. Most of them live in urban areas. Like other community entities, some of these communities have not consumed organic food plants, given the scarcity of information about organic plants. The objectives of this study were: (1) to determine the effect of plant organic food product attributes as healthier food plants, and the discomfort caused by organic food plants on the motivation to shift consumption through the attitude of shifting non-organic food plant products to organic food plants. ; (2) to determine the effect of moderating motivation to elaborate information on the effect of product attributes and discomfort on product switching attitudes. The analytical method used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS applications, the research sample of 250 respondents selected from the three research areas, with proportional random sampling method. The results of the study show that product attributes have a positive and significant effect on product switching attitudes, as well as their influence on the motivation to shift consumption to organic food crops. Meanwhile, discomfort has a significant negative effect both on product switching attitudes and on motivation for shifting consumption. Product switching attitude has a positive and significant effect on the motivation to shift in consumption. The moderating effect of motivation on elaborating information strengthens the effect of product attributes on product switching attitudes, but the moderating effect of motivation on elaborating on information through discomfort is proven insignificant. The interactive structural equation function mathematically can be written as follows: (1) SK = 1,420 AT– 0.773 KN + 0.278 ATml - 0.198 KNml + e3; and (2) NI = 1.366 AT - 1.466 KN + 0.768 SK + 0.425 ATml - 0.787 KNml + 0.570 SKml + e4. shows that product attribute improvements can be widely and continuously informed to the public so that people will know and be able to make comparisons with competitors' products. This will motivate more wisely towards product switching. This finding related to the limited alternative product choices; product constraints are difficult to find, high prices (Zanoli & Naspetti; 2002, and Chinnici, and friends; 2002). Low availability in the market (Kalafatis, and friends;, 2009: Magnusson, and friends; 2012, Vindigni, and friends; 2002, Tarlanen & Sundqvist; 2005, Chen; 2009); and the minimum number of alternative options (Chinnici, and friends; 2002) as well as the cost of switching (Anton, and friends; 2007).
