Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the use of series image media in improving students' skills and motivation in writing narrative essays and to find out the factors that influence students in writing narrative essays using series image media for class IV SDN 010 Pakasassan Mamasa. The research carried out was classroom action research. Type of quantitative descriptive research. Data collection procedures were carried out using interviews, journals and tests. Data analysis techniques use qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. The aim of data analysis techniques is to find out in detail how to obtain data and the development of research results. The results of the research found in this study were the students' completeness in learning Indonesian after applying the series of picture media in cycle I. It was found that 6 students or 24% had successfully completed the ability to write narrative essays. Meanwhile, in cycle II it was found that the highest student score was 95 with a score range of 25 and an average score of 86.01 from a total of 25 students. It can be concluded that the use of series image media has a positive influence on learning to write narrative essays.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan peserta didik memahami puisi rakyat melalui pendekatan etnopedagogik pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dan mendeskripsikan persepsi guru dan peserta didik tentang penerapan pendekatan etnopedagogik dalam pembelajaran puisi rakyat pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Mamasa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain penelitian yang bersifat deskriptif kuantitatif. Prosedur pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi, angket, tes dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dengan menggunakan program Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) versi 20,0 for windows. Hasil penelitian yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) kemampuan peserta didik memahami puisi rakyat melalui pendekatan etnopedagogik pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Mamasa dikategorikan memadai/tuntas. (2) Persepsi guru terhadap penerapan pendekatan etnopedagogik dalam pembelajaran puisi rakyat pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Mamasa merupakan pendekatan yang cocok dan sesuai dengan karakteristik lingkungan peserta didik yang berlatar belakang budaya Mamasa, sesuai dengan karakter peserta didik, serta sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui dan menganalisis dampak beban kerja dan lingkungan kerja terhadap kinerja guru Bahasa Indonesia SMPN di Kabupaten Toraja Utara. Penelitian dilakukan dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Prosedur pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi, kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan uji instrumen, uji reliabilitas, regresi linier berganda, uji t (uji parsial), uji F (uji simultan), dan koefisien determinasi dengan bantuan software SPSS 26.2023 (Statistical Product and Service Solutions). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial beban kerja dan lingkungan kerja berdampak positif yang signifikan terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Indonesia SMPN di kabupaten Toraja Utara dan secara simultan beban kerja dan lingkungan kerja berdampak positif signifikan terhadap terhadap kinerja guru Bahasa Indonesia SMPN di Kabupaten Toraja Utara.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an effect of applying the imagination suggestion method with hypnoteaching techniques to improve students' short story writing skills at SMPN 2 Rantepao and whether the application of this method is effective in stimulating students' creative ideas in writing short stories. The type of research used is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental research design. Data collection procedures were carried out using test, questionnaire, observation and treatment methods. Data analysis techniques using test result data management and statistical analysis. The research results found in this study can be concluded that the two classes as well as the pretest and posttest data are samples that are not normally distributed. Paired Sample Test Results t Test obtained Sig. (2-Tailed) of 0.000<0.005 in the control class and 0.000<0.005 for the experimental class, so it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average pretest and posttest learning outcomes in the two classes. Based on the Independent Sample Test, data was obtained that there was an average or mean value in the experimental class posttest of 83.66 and 76.54 in the control class. This value can be interpreted as the average value in the experimental class being higher than the control class. Thus hypothesis H0 is rejected and hypothesis H1 is accepted.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out how students' communication skills during discussions can have an influence on student learning outcomes, as well as knowing student learning outcomes, and to find out the significant influence between teacher communication skills on the learning outcomes of class XI students at SMKN 1 Tana Toraja. This research is a quantitative descriptive research with the type of research using a field survey. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research is Product moment correlation. The results of this research can be concluded that students' communication skills in the discussion method have a good influence with a percentage of 65% and student learning outcomes are sufficient with a percentage of 35%. There is a significant influence between students' communication skills on learning outcomes in the Indonesian language subject class XI SMKN 1 Tana Toraja. Hypothesis testing is as follows: where ro = 0.005 is greater than r table at a significance level of 5% = 0.396, thus Ha is accepted and HO is rejected. This means that the better the students' ability to communicate, the better the grades obtained by students at SMKN 1 Tana Toraja.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze language crimes that occur in the communication process among students on campus using a forensic linguistic approach. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method with note-taking techniques. The respondents in this study are students of the Indonesian Christian University of Toraja.  The results of the study indicate that language crimes in communication among students on campus occur in several forms of verbal harassment using animal names such as bai or pig, asu or dog, buaya for crocodile, and balao for rat. In addition, there is also language crime using the bombo or devil. This can affect the mental health and well-being of the victimized students. Lecturers and student organizations have an important role as supervisors and enforcers of regulations, as well as providing education and guidance on language ethics within the campus environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze student needs for learning materials for journalism courses at Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Toraja Indonesian Christian University. Using a qualitative approach, the study collected data through a series of in-depth interviews, surveys, and focus groups with students enrolled in journalism courses. The main objective of the study was to identify specific aspects of the learning material that students consider important, areas they find challenging, and suggestions for curriculum improvement. The results show that students value a combination of theoretical and practical learning, with particular emphasis on real-life case studies, multimedia skills, and the use of social media in journalism. Students also highlight the need for greater interaction with professional journalistic practitioners and field practice opportunities such as internships. Key difficulties students face include understanding journalistic investigative concepts, ethics, and legal aspects, as well as the development of technical skills such as writing, editing, and media analysis. This research suggests the need for a flexible and responsive curriculum that integrates the latest technology, provides teaching materials relevant to industry developments, and strengthens students' practical skills. These findings contribute to the development of more effective journalism teaching practices, which focus on preparing students for real challenges in the journalism industry.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan pendampingan masyarakat Tikala dalam pengembangan ekowisata Marimbunna di Kelurahan Tikala, Kabupaten Toraja Utara. Pendidikan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat merupakan fokus utama penelitian ini, dengan tujuan meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat setempat dalam pengelolaan ekowisata secara berkelanjutan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipan dan analisis dokumen terkait pengembangan ekowisata Marimbunna. Responden utama adalah masyarakat setempat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan masyarakat Tikala telah memberikan kontribusi positif dalam pengembangan ekowisata Marimbunna. Pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pelatihan partisipan dan program pendidikan telah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan ekowisata. Selain itu, adanya perencanaan strategis dan pengembangan produk wisata lokal telah memberikan nilai tambah bagi destinasi tersebut. Pendampingan juga memainkan peran penting dalam membangun kerjasama antara masyarakat setempat, pemerintah daerah, dan sektor swasta. Kerjasama ini diperlukan untuk mencapai tujuan bersama dalam menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan, mempromosikan kebudayaan lokal, dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Meskipun demikian, penelitian ini juga menyoroti beberapa tantangan yang dihadapi dalam pendampingan, seperti perubahan perilaku masyarakat, manajemen konflik, dan keberlanjutan sumber daya alam. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya lebih lanjut dalam mengatasi tantangan ini agar pengembangan ekowisata Marimbunna dapat berlangsung secara optimal. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan ekowisata berkelanjutan di daerah sejenis, serta menjadi referensi bagi pihak terkait dalam merancang program pendampingan masyarakat yang efektif dalam konteks pariwisata lokal.

Abstract

 The purpose of this study was to determine the difficulties that students face when listening to TOEFL Preparation Tests at the English Study Program, FKIP UKI TORAJA. The participants in this study consisted of 12 students from the 8th semester of the English Department at FKIP UKI Toraja. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method and collected data through interviews. The data was then analyzed using three main stages: data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. After analyzing and discussing the findings, it can be concluded that 8th semester English Department students at UKI Toraja encounter various difficulties when listening to TOEFL Preparation tests, which can be categorized into three main areas. Each category presents different challenges. Regarding the comprehension of listening materials, students face difficulties with complex grammatical structures, understanding every word in spoken discourse, interpreting the meaning of lengthy spoken texts, and encountering unfamiliar vocabulary. Additionally, students encounter difficulties related to listening itself, including anxiety, deducing the meaning of unknown words, lack of concentration, unclear pronunciation, difficulty with retention, losing focus, and listening without transcripts. Furthermore, students also face obstacles related to the physical setting, such as poor quality cassettes or discs, inadequate equipment, and background noise.

Abstract

Folklore is a form of cultural heritage that is full of the life values, traditions and worldview of a society. This research aims to examine the life values ​​contained in Toraja folklore and how these values ​​reflect the social and cultural life of the Toraja people. The method used in this research is qualitative analysis with an ethnographic approach, where folk stories are collected and analyzed through in-depth interpretation. The research results show that Toraja folklore depicts the values ​​of togetherness, mutual cooperation, respect for ancestors, as well as respect and fear of customary law and cosmological rules. These values ​​not only function as a guide to life, but also strengthen Toraja cultural identity amidst ongoing social changes. These findings provide deeper insight into how folklore can be a medium for understanding social structures, moral values, and the Torajan people's perspective on life.
