Abstract

The need for energy that continues to increase has led to research processes to create renewable technologies. One of them is manufacturing a Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell with a photosensitizer derived from great natural ingredients, easy to extract and environmentally friendly. Although the resulting efficiency is not as excellent as synthetic materials, combining these natural pigments can expand the absorption area. The efficiency of a combination dye is more significant than a single dye. This review analyses the synthesis process and characterization of the dye combination as a DSSC photosensitizer starting from dye extraction and TiO2 deposition to characterization using various tools. In addition, there are results of research with dye combinations that can be prospects for further study.

Abstract

Cu2ZnSnS4 is a low-cost and environmentally friendly thin layer solar cell absorber material. The electrochemical deposition method is intended to study because it enables producing films with high homogeneity based on solution precursors. This research review focuses on examining the CZTS electrochemical deposition method in order to identify the effect of the sulfurization process (sulfurization temperature and time) so that the best electrochemical deposition process can be identified for future work of high-efficiency CZTS thin layer solar cell fabrication based on solution precursor. The results show that the Cu2ZnSnS4 layer deposited through the electrochemical method has a 1.4-1.6 eV bandgap range. The etching process to post-annealing 0.1M KCN is crucial to effectively and selectively remove CuS, ZnS, and Cu6Sn5 secondary phases.

Abstract

This research aims to validate the method of analyzing the concentration of coffee solution by measuring light absorbance using simple spectrophotometry. Spectrophotometry is a technique that utilizes the interaction between visible light and electromagnetic waves on a substance. Measurement of the absorbency of the coffee was carried out by making five samples of coffee solution with different concentrations, namely 100 ppm, 160 ppm, 200 ppm, 350 ppm and 400 ppm. Absorbance measurements were carried out at visible light wavelengths (380 750 nm). The validation of the coffee has good linearity with a correlation coefficient of 0.9818; 0.9902 and 0.9788. The average precision value for the three treatments was 0.0056% with a Limit of Detection (LOD) and Limit of Quantitation (LOQ) of 115 ppm and 383.33 ppm for (  405 nm 10); 44 ppm and 146.67 ppm for ( 532 nm 10); 70.2 ppm and 234 ppm for (  650 nm 10). This indicates that the validation result of absorbance analytical method of the coffee, using simple spectrophotometry is not different from the standard measurement.

Abstract

Photoelectrode preparation that requires high heating temperatures will hinder the future development of PSCs on flexible plastic substrates. Therefore, ZnO is a viable alternative for flexible PSCs because it can be processed at low temperatures. This research focuses on the influence of ZnO photoelectrode layer thickness on the optical properties and performance of PSCs. The transmittance of ZnO thin films was found to be more than 50% in each sample. In addition, the bandgap obtained ranged from 3.12 to 3.20 eV. The efficiency results are 0.90×10-5% at a thickness of 10 µm, 1.09×10-5% at a thickness of 8 µm, 2.68×10-5% at a thickness of 6 µm, and the best efficiency is 4.31×10-5% at 4 µm thickness. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, reducing the thickness of the ZnO photoelectrode layer can increase the transmittance and efficiency of solar cells so that solar cell performance increases.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of light wavelength on solar cell performance through a hands-on laboratory experiment designed for junior high school students. The experiment utilized a spectrometer app to measure the dominant wavelengths of various visible light colors and assessed the corresponding voltage and current generated by a solar cell. Results indicated a clear inverse relationship between wavelength and solar cell output, with shorter wavelengths producing higher voltage and current values. For example, light with a wavelength of 400 nm resulted in the highest voltage (1.75 V) and current (13.9 µA), whereas light at 650 nm generated the lowest output (1.43 V and 8.7 µA). This experiment provides an accessible, cost-effective way for students to grasp the principles of solar energy and wavelength effects, enhancing their understanding of energy conversion in renewable technologies.
