Abstract

Abstract This study is based on the importance of integrating digital culture values such as netiquette, digital literacy, and digital citizenship into the learning process to shape students' character that is adaptive to the changes of the times. The purpose of this study is to describe strategies for strengthening character through social studies (IPS) learning based on digital culture, to identify relevant character values in the integration of digital culture, and to explain the challenges and solutions in implementing digital culture in IPS learning. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with the research location in Semarang Regency. The informants consist of IPS teachers and students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, using the interactive data analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study show that IPS learning integrated with digital culture values can foster character values such as responsibility, tolerance, cooperation, social care, and civic awareness. The implementation of these values is reflected in various learning activities based on interactive digital media and collaborative online projects. However, the process still faces several challenges, including low digital literacy among teachers, suboptimal supervision of students' digital activities, and gaps in technological infrastructure. The proposed solutions include regular digital literacy training, strengthening the role of teachers as digital mentors, and policy and funding support from educational institutions and the government. These findings affirm that the integration of digital culture into IPS learning is an effective strategy for shaping student character in the digital era.

Abstract

This research examines the complexity of anti-Dutch memory in Indonesia by focusing on the idea that colonization is opposed to freedom. This research was carried out using qualitative methods. Data was collected using interview techniques, observation, and document study. The collected data was analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. An in-depth analytical exploration reveals how Dutch colonialism practices limited freedom. The concept of freedom in the context of colonialism includes restrictions on human rights, detrimental economic systems, and oppression of local culture. Anti-Dutch memory records persistent resistance through rebellion and war as a manifestation of freedom. The idea of independence was reflected in the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence in 1945, and liberator figures such as Soekarno became symbols of the struggle against colonialism. Anti-Dutch memory plays a central role in forming Indonesian national identity, constructing collective memory as a cultural heritage passed down through generations. This analysis enriches historical and social understanding, shows the complexity of teaching history, and emphasizes the importance of a contextual approach. This analytical exploration guides reflection on general statements and provides a basis for a deeper understanding of how essential freedom was in the struggle against colonialism. This article contributes to the Indonesian history education research literature. It opens space for further discussion about the impact of anti-Dutch memory on national identity and actual freedom in Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesia’s legal reform and justice system have long faced challenges of inefficiency, corruption, and a lack of skilled personnel. As the nation strives to modernize and improve governance, a transformative approach is necessary to address systemic shortcomings. This research explores the pivotal role of Human Resources (HR) management in reshaping the Indonesian justice system, arguing that reforms in HR practices are essential to achieving sustainable legal reform and enhancing judicial efficiency. The study introduces a novel perspective by linking HR practices—such as recruitment, training, performance management, and retention—with broader goals of institutional transformation and legal accountability. The urgency of this research lies in Indonesia's ongoing efforts to combat corruption and improve the public sector’s effectiveness. HR reforms are positioned as a key lever for institutional change, offering a pathway to ensure that the judicial system is staffed with competent, ethical, and efficient personnel. The research examines existing HR practices within the justice sector and proposes innovative strategies for talent development, capacity building, and alignment with international standards. By fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism, these reforms can contribute to increased public trust and a more equitable legal environment. This study makes a significant contribution by bridging the gap between HR management and judicial reform in Indonesia. It provides actionable insights for policymakers, legal professionals, and international partners, emphasizing that an investment in human capital is central to achieving a more effective, transparent, and just legal system. Ultimately, the research underscores that HR transformation is not just an administrative reform, but a critical element in the broader pursuit of justice and national development.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study analyzes the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in history education at a senior high school in Rembang, Indonesia, and examines its impact on student learning autonomy. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving 43 participants, including teachers and students. Findings indicate that while teachers’ planning stages were systematically aligned with national guidelines, inconsistencies arose during execution, particularly in differentiated instruction and local history integration. Despite these gaps, the curriculum demonstrated a positive influence on fostering student autonomy, especially among Phase E (Grade X) learners, who exhibited greater confidence, self-regulation, and initiative. The study underscores the need for comprehensive teacher professional development to ensure faithful curriculum enactment. It contributes to the discourse on contextual pedagogical reform in post-colonial educational settings, highlighting how curriculum redesign can promote autonomous learning in history education.
