Abstract

Digital leadership requires headteachers not only to understand the use of technology, but also how it can be utilised to improve efficiency, teaching quality, and student learning outcomes. The digital era has transformed the role of headteachers from traditional managers to digital leaders who facilitate, direct, and accelerate the integration of technology in learning. This literature review article examines the concept of digital leadership in school principals, its main dimensions (digital vision, teacher professional development, resource and data management, innovation culture, ethics & data security), and the mechanisms by which such leadership influences technology adoption and the quality of technology-based learning. The study utilises empirical literature and a systematic review of publications from 2015–2025 to formulate a conceptual model and practical recommendations for policymakers and school practitioners. Findings indicate that effective digital leadership combines strategic vision, teacher capacity building, data management policies, and a collaborative culture which significantly improve the readiness and quality of technology-based learning

Abstract

Every student activity—from diagnostic assessments and daily reflections to project assignments and interactions with learning videos—is recorded automatically and displayed graphically and with risk predictions via the PMM dashboard. The potential for this data to support strategic decision-making at the school level is significant, yet a national survey shows that most elementary schools still use this data solely for report card administration and reporting to the education office. This study explores the utilization of learning analytics from the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) as a strategic decision-making tool in elementary schools, focusing on the role of the principal's digital leadership. Using a qualitative case study method, data were collected through interviews (n=10), PMM dashboard analysis, and three-month observation at SD Negeri 21 Simpang Rumbio, Kota Solok, West Sumatra (July–September 2025). Findings reveal five key applications: early risk identification, differentiated learning groups, flexible scheduling, teacher development, and parent reporting. The principal's digital leadership increased utilization from 24 % (2023) to 89 % (2025) through vision, infrastructure, and data culture. This contributes practical insights for basic education in developing countries, recommending principal training and data literacy programs.

Abstract

This study is a literature review that examines the effectiveness of transformational leadership by school principals in improving organisational performance related to the learning process in senior high schools. The objectives of this study are (1) to formulate the concept and dimensions of transformational leadership in the context of secondary schools, (2) to examine empirical evidence regarding the influence of transformational leadership on teacher performance, school climate, and student learning outcomes, and (3) to identify mechanisms (mediators and moderators) that strengthen or weaken these influences. A systematic review of empirical literature and meta-reviews published in the last 10 years shows consistent findings: transformational leadership is positively correlated and often significantly influences teacher motivation and performance, collaborative culture, Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB), and several indicators of learning process effectiveness. these effects are often mediated by teacher job satisfaction, professional learning communities (PLCs), and school climate, and moderated by contextual factors such as resource support and school culture. Practical implications are discussed for the development of headteacher capacity and educational leadership development policies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers' perceptions of educational facility management in public senior high schools in Basa Ampek Balai Tapan District, covering aspects of procurement, utilization, maintenance, inventory, and supervision. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach. The study population consisted of 92 teachers from public senior high schools in Basa Ampek Balai Tapan District, with a sample of 78 teachers selected using proportional random sampling techniques. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the average technique (mean). The results showed that teachers' perceptions of educational facility management were generally in the good category with an average score of 4.13. The procurement aspect obtained an average score of 3.80 (good), utilization 3.44 (sufficient), maintenance 4.56 (good), inventory 4.47 (good), and supervision 4.40 (good). The maintenance aspect was the indicator with the highest score, while utilization received the lowest score. These findings indicate that the management of educational facilities in schools has been running well, but the utilization of facilities still needs to be improved so that the available facilities can be used optimally to support the learning process.
