Abstract

Sibling conflict has some influences on children’s development, positively and negatively. It is not only about the frequency, but also about the strategies used in managing conflict. The main purpose of this study was to adapt and to validate Sibling Conflict Strategy Scale developed by Recchia (2009), so it can be used by parents in Indonesia to identify their children’s strategies. The process of adaptation was guided by the International Testing Commission (ITC) Guidelines model for test adaptation, which include forward – backward translation processes, followed by expert reviews to test language and conceptual equivalence. Then, we conducted the validation process by testing the Content Validity Index (CVI) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Two hundred and six parents in Surabaya who have children in the age range of 52-87 months (M = 71.21) were participated in the pilot study. The result showed that each indicator, dimension, and construct met all the Goodness of Fit criteria (RMSEA < .08; CFI > .9). In addition, the value of Construct Reliability (CR) > .70 and Average Variance Extracted (AVE) > .50 were also obtained. Thus, the Sibling Conflict Strategy Scale can be used as a valid and reliable measurement to measure children’s sibling conflict strategies in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pembelajaran bilingual dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa asing dan keterampilan komunikasi siswa. Selain itu, pembelajaran bilingual juga dianggap dapat meningkatkan kepercayaan diri (self-efficacy) siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa asing. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah metode pembelajaran bilingual memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap self-efficacy siswa sekolah dasar di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 60 siswa sekolah dasar yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode pembelajaran bilingual memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan self-efficacy siswa sekolah dasar di Indonesia. Siswa yang belajar dengan metode pembelajaran bilingual memiliki self-efficacy yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang belajar dengan metode konvensional.

Abstract

Early reading skills is an important ability for early childhood learner, considering that these skills are the foundation for children to overcome the diffiulties on the next level of education. One of the main predictors of early reading ability are letter knowledge and phonological awareness. Early intervention is known to be very necessary on improving children's low early reading skills. Interventions using the jolly phonics method and picture card games are known to be effective in improving early reading skills, especially in terms of improving alphabet knowledge and phonological awareness, moreover these methods have been known as a fun and interesting methods for improving early reading skills for young children. In this study jolly phonics and alphabet card games were used to improve the early reading skills of children aged 6 years 5 months with low early reading skills. The subject is known to just recognize and know the letters c, o, and s and still lacking on distinguishing letter sounds. This study uses qualitative research design with a single case design. The intervention was carried out for 60 to 90 minutes for 12 sessions. The results show that subject could recognize, mention, and distinguish the sounds of vowels such as (a, i, u, e, o) and consonants such as (b, c, d, m, s, n, k, l, p, t). In conclusion the uses of jolly phonics and alphabet card games increased early reading skills, especially for improving alphabet knowledge and phonological awareness.

Abstract

Perceraian orang tua dapat menimbulkan tekanan bagi remaja. Walaupun demikian, tidak semua kejadian hidup pasca perceraian dianggap remaja sebagai tekanan. Tujuan studi ini mendeskripsikan: 1). kejadian hidup pasca perceraian yang dianggap remaja sebagai tekanan dan 2). perubahan pikiran, perasaan, dan perilaku yang dialami remaja pasca perceraian. Penelitian deskriptif ini menggunakan Children Depression Inventory (CDI) dan kuesioner, yang dianalisis secara univariat. Partisipan penelitian adalah remaja (n = 30; 83.3% perempuan) dari keluarga bercerai yang berusia 13-19 tahun dan mengalami depresi (skor CDI minimal 19). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lima tema kejadian hidup yang dianggap menekan, yaitu relasi keluarga yang kurang kohesif, kehilangan dukungan dan kasih sayang dari orang tua, permasalahan akademik, pernikahan kembali orang tua, serta kondisi ekonomi yang menurun. Perceraian orang tua menimbulkan lebih banyak perubahan negatif, meskipun masih terdapat satu hal positif yaitu membuat remaja lebih mandiri. Keluarga besar justru menjadi salah satu sumber tekanan bagi remaja. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya pendampingan orang tua dan dukungan keluarga besar bagi remaja dalam menghadapi tekanan pasca perceraian.

Abstract

The use of smartphones is a major need at this time, especially for teenagers, but excessive use can have a negative impact, one of which is becoming addicted to smartphones. This is allegedly sourced from problems in the relationship between parents and children as well as the lack of warm communication in the family. This PkM aims to increase parent's comprehension of smartphone addiction in children, especially teenagers and to be able to describe the role of the family in preventing the emergence of smartphone addiction. This PkM activity uses the lecture method in the form of hybrid seminars (online and offline) providing psychoeducation to parents regarding early detection of smartphone addiction and optimizing the role of the family in preventing smartphone addiction in adolescents accompanied by questions and answers, and evaluation. The results showed that there was an increase in parental knowledge in the very good and good (52%) and sufficient (24%) categories. Optimizing the role of the family, in this case, parents as educators, helps maximize the relationship and communication between parents and children to prevent smartphone addiction in adolescents.

Abstract

The impact of divorce mostly affects the psychological aspects of children and continues to be felt into adulthood. The success of early-adult individuals in forming relationships to complete developmental tasks is influenced by their cognitions and attributions of romantic relationships that are formed based on perceptions of their parents' relationship. The researchers used the narrative review method to determine the psychological impact related to the relationship of early adult individuals who experienced parental divorce. Research has found that divorce has both positive and negative impacts on children's psychological conditions, affecting their success in establishing relationships to complete early adult developmental tasks related to intimacy vs isolation. It is very important to do further research regarding the dynamics and what factors that influence the success of forming relationships so that individuals with parental divorce experiences can optimally complete their developmental tasks.

Abstract

Depression causes student learning problems. Depressive symptoms are influenced by automatic thoughts that contain a negative cognitive triad. A valid and reliable instrument to measure the cognitive triad in adolescents is essential to identify one of the risk factors for depressive disorders in adolescents. At the same time, Indonesia has no instrument to measure this. This study aims to adapt the children’s cognitive triad inventory (CTI-C) into an Indonesian version and to examine its psychometric properties. Data were collected from 1,184 students aged 13-19 (mean=15.32, SD=1.62) using the 36-item CTI-C. The CTI-C instrument adaptation process refers to the international test commission (ITC). The results of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed comparative fit index (CFI)=0.95, Tucker-Lewis’s index (TLI)=0.94, root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA)=0.071, standardized root mean square residual (SRMR)=0.056, and goodness of fit index (GFI)=0.82, with a load factor range of 0.43-0.80 for the view of self, 0.43-0.68 for the view of the world, and 0.37-0.70 for the view of the future. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient ranged from 0.81 to 0.84 for the subscales and 0.93 for the total score. Thus, the Indonesian version of the CTI-C can measure the cognitive triad in Indonesian students aged 13-19.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kepuasan belajar online merupakan konstruk yang dapat digunakan untuk mengevaluasi keefektifan layanan pembelajaran online. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor kepuasan belajar online siswa. Sistematika literature review ini menganalisis 34 jurnal yang dikumpulkan dari dua situs, yaitu Google Scholar dan Semantic Scholar. Pada bagian pertama studi ini didiskusikan isu akademik pembelajaran online, kemudian model kepuasan belajar online yang digunakan para peneliti, dan terakhir menjelaskan prediktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kepuasan belajar online siswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa faktor eksternal yang paling signifikan adalah learner content dan interaksi guru dengan siswa. Oleh karena itu, untuk meningkatkan kepuasan belajar siswa, guru diharapkan dapat menyajikan materi digital yang menarik serta meningkatkan kualitas komunikasi yang positif dikelas virtual. Abstract: Online learning satisfaction can be used to assess how well online learning programs work. This research can help education professionals in their efforts to develop adaptive online learning in dealing with future educational disruptions and challenges through the analysis of various literatures. This systematic literature review explored 34 journals from two sites: Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar. The first part of this study discusses the academic issue of online learning, the second section describes the online learning satisfaction model used by the researchers, and the last part describes the predictors that can affect students' online learning satisfaction. Learner content interaction and teacher-student interactions are the most primary external determinants on online learning satisfaction, according to the analysis' findings. Therefore, teachers are expected to be able to deliver engaging digital contents and enhance positive communication in online setting to increase students’ learning satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of resilience to Quarter Life Crisis in young adults. Excessive feeling of helplessness, confusion, and uncertainty in facing life events are called Quarter Life (Robbins & Wilner, 2001). Resilience is known to be one of the factors that influence Quarter Life Crisis. This study is a quantitative research using survey method and purposive sampling techniques for sampling to 107 young adults within the range of 21—25 years old consists of 22 men and 85 women. Data analysis used a simple linear regression. This research uses two scale, Quarter Life Crisis scale by Agustin (2012) that later on be tryout by Wijaya dan Utami (2021) and resilience scale by Asad dan Hafnidar (2023). Data analysis is using the help of IBM SPSS 27 for Windows software. The results showed that there is a role of resilience towards Quarter Life Crisis in young adults. Effect size from resilience towards Quarter Life Crisis is 22,6%, while the rest (77,4%) is affected by other variables that are not studied in this research.

Abstract

Satisfaction with life is an important element of mental health as its protective features against depression, anxiety, and other mental health problems. The bottom-up theory of life satisfaction explained that satisfaction in specific domains tend to sum up to general life satisfaction. accordingly, studies reported that relationship satisfaction predicts general life satisfaction This cross-sectional study aims to investigate the role of two variables, namely perceived social support (PSS) and mattering. We hypothesized that PSS and mattering perform full serial mediation on the link relationship between relationship satisfaction and life satisfaction. 256 individuals who live in several urban areas in West Malaysia were recruited through purposive sampling to respond to online form consisted of scales of relationship satisfaction, satisfaction with life, general mattering scale and multidimensional scale of perceived social support. Bootstrap method with 95% confidence interval and 5,000 samples was conducted through PROCESS Macro model 6; the results suggested that a significant, full serial mediation occurred. Additionally, both PSS and mattering significantly predicted life satisfaction after controlling for each other.
