Abstract

In order to explain differences in English proficiency level, one needs toconsider a number of factors frequently considered important at a variety oflevel of education systems. Among the factors that operate to influenceEnglish Foreign Language Proficiency are those associated with the studentbackground variables. This study identifies the student level factors thatinfluence English Foreign Language Proficiency. It is expected that this studycan contribute to the development of a theory of foreign language learningthat applies to students studying the English language at other universities inIndonesia and South-East Asia. This study involves the employment of anexploratory approach for the examination of the relationships betweenvariables operating at the student level. Data are analyzed using PartialLeast Squares Path Analysis (PLSPATH) to identify in an exploratory waythe variables that have significant direct and indirect effects on EnglishForeign Language Proficiency. The study shows that a number of studentbackground characteristics such as sex of student (GENDER), socioeconomic of student (SES), Faculty of Instruction (FACULTY), score ofEnglish 1 (ENGLISH_1) and semester in which students enrol in English 2(SEMESTER) have only direct effects on English Language Proficiency, while student prior achievement (PRIOR) has both direct and indirect effectson English Foreign Language Proficiency.

Abstract

Social media is part of the digital change that colors the world of communication. The increasingly rapid development brings changes in the language structure adopted from online platforms. The TikTok and Instagram applications that are currently often used by teenagers present an informal language style. This informal language is called slang. Slang is often used by teenagers to simplify language and find identity. However, this often leads to hate speech, violence, and even impoliteness in communication. So this study aims to pay special attention to the challenges posed by slang. Politeness as a necessity must not fade among teenagers. This will also affect acts of violence, hatred and other immoral acts. In this study, researchers used quantitative methods. This is useful for determining the influence of the use of slang among teenagers in communicating. Comparison of views from the questions asked will be the results and discussions. The results of this study in the form of TikTok and Instagram allow teenagers to create and spread new slang quickly. Usage tends to adapt words and phrases according to trends and popular content on this platform. Teenagers who use social media intensively are more likely to use slang in everyday communication. The conclusion of this study is that social media, especially TikTok and Instagram, contribute significantly to the development of slang among teenagers. These platforms accelerate the spread and adoption of new terms, enable language creativity and help build group identity.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of strategic decision-making agility in enhancing organizational resilience under conditions of economic uncertainty. Although prior studies have examined strategic agility and organizational performance, limited empirical research has explored the internal mechanisms linking strategic decision-making agility, dynamic capabilities, and organizational resilience in developing-country contexts. This study addresses that gap by examining the mediating role of dynamic capabilities and the moderating role of digital readiness. A quantitative approach was employed using survey data collected from 250 managers working in manufacturing, logistics, and service companies. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that strategic decision-making agility positively affects organizational resilience and significantly strengthens dynamic capabilities. Dynamic capabilities were also found to positively influence organizational resilience and partially mediate the relationship between strategic decision-making agility and organizational resilience. In addition, digital readiness significantly moderates the relationship between strategic decision-making agility and organizational resilience, indicating that organizations with stronger technological preparedness are better able to translate agile decision-making into resilience outcomes. This study contributes to strategic management literature by integrating strategic decision-making agility, dynamic capabilities, digital readiness, and organizational resilience into a single empirical framework within a developing-country context. The findings suggest that organizational resilience during periods of economic uncertainty depends not only on rapid and adaptive decision-making, but also on the organization’s capability development and technological preparedness.

Abstract

In the current technological era, language learning has experienced significant changes. The implementation of technology in language learning has enabled the development of innovative learning methods, especially in the context of collaborative learning. Optimizing language and technology skills can be a provision to face the demands of life which are always changing according to the times. Therefore, students need to explore technology in the learning process. This research aims to investigate the role of technology in mediating collaborative learning in the context of language learning. Combining language learning with technology is a relevant solution to mediate collaborative learning. An approach that involves a reciprocal relationship between educators and students to achieve maximum learning goals. The method used in this research is quantitative. The steps are to create a statement related to technologically enabled language learning that can mediate the role of collaborative learning. Then it is formulated into a Google form and filled in by students. Then the data is collected input and processed using the SPSS application. The correctness of the data can be proven by statements made on the Google form which are adjusted to the facts that occur in the world of education. The results of this research state that in language learning, technology plays a very important role in becoming an intermediary for optimizing collaborative learning. Creating a new innovative educational perspective that is increasingly sophisticated, helping students develop more complex and in-depth thinking abilities so that they can provide effective solutions related to all forms of challenges that occur in the world of education. This research concludes that teachers are advised to better understand language learning through technology so they can teach students how to adapt to increasing technological changes. So that it can expand opportunities for creativity in learning and enrich the learning experience through the skills practiced by the teacher.
