Abstract

Abundance and diversity of parasitoids is strongly associated with the presence of pests and vegetation around cucumber plantings. This study aims to determine the abundance and diversity of parasitoid species in cucumber plantings. The research was conducted at four cucumber planting locations in Bogor, West Java. Insect sampling is done using yellow pantraps and malaise traps. The results show the highest species abundance obtained at the Cibatok of 632 individuals and the lowest in Cibanteng 197 individuals. The highest Shannon-Wiener index value at Cangkurawuk is 4.2927 and the evenness of species is 0.92. The high abundance of individuals is not always accompanied by the higher value of diversity and evenness too.Keywords: abundance, cucumber, diversity, parasitoid

Abstract

Laba-laba memiliki peranan penting dalam agroekosistem khususnya sebagai predator. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari keanekaragaman, kelimpahan, dan komposisi spesies laba-laba pada kondisi habitat yang berbeda di perkebunan kopi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2020 hingga Maret 2021 di 12 perkebunan kopi yang terletak di Kabupaten Malang dan Kabupaten Pasuruan, Jawa Timur. Pengambilan sampel laba-laba dilakukan dengan metode fogging untuk strata kanopi dan perangkap pitfall untuk strata permukaan tanah. Sebagai data penunjang dilakukan pengamatan data lingkungan (meliputi suhu relatif dan kelembaban relatif) dan juga wawancara dengan pemilik lahan untuk mengetahui cara budidaya yang dilakukan (meliputi varietas kopi, penggunaan pupuk, dan aplikasi pestisida). Hasil penelitian diperoleh 11 famili, 46 morfospesies, dan 264 individu laba-laba dari keseluruhan lokasi. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa umur tanaman berpengaruh terhadap keanekaragaman spesies dan kelimpahan individu laba-laba kanopi. Persentase tutupan kanopi dan keanekaragaman serangga herbivora berpengaruh terhadap kelimpahan individu laba-laba permukaan tanah. Di dalam penelitian ini, komposisi spesies laba-laba tidak dipengaruhi umur tanaman kopi tapi dipengaruhi oleh aplikasi pestisida.

Abstract

Ordo Coleoptera memiliki peranan penting di perkebunan kopi diantara sebagai herbivor, predator, mycophagous dan detritrivor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan Ordo Coleoptera, dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keanekaragaman, kelimpahan, dan komposisi spesies Ordo Coleoptera di perkebunan kopi Jawa Timur. Penelitian lapangan dilakukan dari bulan Desember 2020 hingga April 2021 pada 12 perkebunan kopi di Jawa Timur. Di setiap perkebunan ditentukan plot untuk pengambilan contoh serangga yang terdiri atas 1 subplot untuk metode fogging dan 1 subplot untuk metode perangkap pitfall. Keanekaragaman vegetasi diobservasi dan didokumentasikan dalam subplot berukuran 1mx1 m. Selain itu dilakukan juga pengukuran tutupan kanopi, suhu, kelembaban dan cara budidaya kopi pada setiap lokasi penelitian juga diobservasi. Analisis ragam, analisis regresi dan analisis kemiripan digunakan untuk mengetahui perbedaan keanekaragaman, kelimpahan, dan komposisi spesies dari Ordo Coleoptera berdasarkan kondisi habitat dan cara budidaya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan 22 famili, 58 morfospesies, dan 277 individu Ordo Coleoptera.  Famili dominan yang ditemukan adalah Anthicidae, Coccinellidae, dan Staphylinidae. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa jenis vegetasi berpengaruh terhadap keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan Ordo Coleoptera khususnya untuk kelompok detritivor. Faktor kondisi habitat lain tidak menunjukkan pengaruh terhadap keanekaragaman, kelimpahan, dan komposisi spesies Ordo Coleoptera.

Abstract

Information about fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae: Dacinae) diversity in Lombok island is still lacking. This study was aimed to determine the diversity and species composition of the Dacinae fruit flies as well as developed the identification key of fruit flies in Lombok island. The research was conducted in 6 locations i.e., Nature Park (NP) of Kerandangan, NP of Suranadi, Lemor forest, Gangga garden, Lingsar garden, dan Lemor garden, spread across the island of Lombok from March to June 2020. Each location consisted of 6 observation plots using the transect method as far as one kilometer with a distance between the plots of 200 m. Fruit flies were collected using a steiner type trap with different attractants i.e. namely methyl eugenol (ME) and cue lure (CL). Identification of fruit flies were carried out at the Plant Quarantine Laboratory, Balai Karantina Pertanian Kelas I Mataram. Overall 22 species from 210,267 individuals of fruit flies were collected with 4 dominance species were Bactrocera limbifera, B. caudata, B. carambolae, and B. dorsalis. The most abundant spesies was B. carambolae which comprises 47% of the total population. Based on 22 species that recorded in this research, the identification key of fruit flies in Lombok Island was constructed. A dichotomous key is provided that describes 2 genera, 4 subgenus, and 22 species of fruit flies. The identification key uses a morphological character matrix, by comparing several key morphological characters in determining species of fruit flies.

Abstract

Studies of the effects of landscape composition on pests and their natural enemies on agroforestry systems is still limited, whereas the system can maintain biodiversity. This research investigated the impact of agricultural landscape composition on shaping the interaction between pests and natural enemies in cacao agroforestry. The study was conducted in twelve cacao plantations spread across five districts in East Java, Indonesia. A sampling of insects was carried out by observing the intensity of pest attacks and the diversity and abundance of predators. The surrounding landscape of the cacao field was characterized by manually digitalizing the land use. The results found two main pests attacking all cacao plantations: cacao pod borer, Conophomorpha cramerella (CPB) with attack intensity 0.72-12.05%, and Helopeltis sp. with attack intensity 12.39-42.24%. Management of cacao plantations, such as intensification and canopy cover, significantly affected the attack intensity of CPB but not Helopeltis sp. Based on the generalized linear model, the landscape composition, especially the patch number of natural habitats, positively impacted CPB attack intensity and predator abundance. However, predator abundance harmed CPB attack intensity. In conclusion, the proportion of natural habitat in agricultural landscapes contributes to reducing the attack intensity of pests via maintaining natural enemy abundance.

Abstract

Salah satu hama yang menyerang beras simpanan ialah Corcyra cephalonica. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan populasi dan perkembangan C. cephalonica pada beras hitam dengan proporsi bentuk yang berbeda. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Hama Tumbuhan, Departemen Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 12 perlakuan yang diulang sebanyak tiga kali untuk pengamatan pertumbuhan populasi dan sepuluh kali untuk pengamatan perkembangan. Penelitian ini disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Pada pengamatan pertumbuhan populasi diinfestasikan 100 butir telur pada 100 g pakan perlakuan, sedangkan pada pengamatan perkembangan digunakan 1 butir telur pada 6 g pakan perlakuan. Variabel yang diamati pada penelitian ini yaitu pengamatan jumlah larva, pupa, imago, fekunditas, fertilitas, stadium telur, larva, pupa, praoviposisi, oviposisi, pascaoviposisi, pradewasa, dan siklus hidup. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan proporsi bentuk beras hitam tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah larva, pupa, imago, stadium telur, stadium pupa, praoviposisi, oviposisi, pascaoviposisi, fertilitas, dan lama hidup imago, namun berpengaruh nyata terhadap stadium larva, pradewasa, fekunditas dan siklus hidup.

Abstract

Tanaman padi merupakan salah satu komoditas yang paling banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia khususnya di wilayah pedesaan. Tingginya populasi hama seringkali menimbulkan kerusakan dan kerugian pada hasil panen tanaman padi. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, para petani mulai mengaplikasikan sistem pertanian padi yang mengintegrasikan berbagai input lain seperti itik, azolla, ikan, dan tanaman lainnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pertanian padi kompleks terhadap keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan hama dari Ordo Hemiptera. Penelitian dilakukan mulai dari bulan Desember 2021 hingga April 2022 di Desa Sukorejo, Kabupaten Malang. Pengambilan sampel hama hemipteran dilakukan dengan pengamatan secara langsung, penggunaan perangkap umpan kepiting, dan metode farmcop. Perbedaan perlakuan padi monokultur dan lahan padi yang diintegrasi dengan berbagai tanaman dan hewan lain dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam. Selain itu analisis regresi juga digunakan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara keanekaragaman hama hemipteran dengan suhu, kelembapan, dan keanekaragaman serangga predator yang ada di lahan. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, total hama hemipteran yang diperoleh yaitu 598 individu yang terdiri dari tiga spesies: Leptocorisa acuta, Nezara viridula, dan Nilaparvata lugens. Kelimpahan hama L. acuta berkorelasi dengan suhu dan kelembapan lahan namun tidak dipengaruhi oleh perlakuan sistem pertanian padi kompleks dan juga sistem pertanian monokultur. Hasil analisis regresi juga menunjukkan bahwa kelimpahan hama L. acuta tidak berkorelasi dengan keanekaragaman dan kelimpahan serangga predator.

Abstract

Lettuce has great potential to be cultivated because it has a short harvest period, a wide open market, and a relatively stable price. The demand for lettuce also continues to increase, but the availability of lettuce stock is still limited. This causes the use of chemical fertilizers to increase. Continuous use of chemical fertilizers can damage soil fertility and the environment. One way that can be applied to support an environmentally friendly cultivation system is the use of liquid organic fertilizer plus cow urine. This liquid fertilizer is made from cow urine and additional ingredients in the form of spices and tobacco. Utilization of cow urine can help increase the economic value of livestock waste. In addition, this organic cow urine plus liquid organic fertilizer also contains nutrients that can help increase plant growth and yields. Additives such as spices and tobacco in fertilizers also help control pests on plants. The method in this study used a one-factor Randomized Block Design with p0 (0%), P1 (5%), P2 (15%), P3 (25%), P4 (35%), and P5 (45%). The results showed that liquid organic fertilizer plus cow urine had a significant effect on plant height, leaf width, number of leaves, and fresh weight of lettuce plants. The best concentration of organic cow urine plus fertilizer on the growth and yield of lettuce was found in treatment P1 (5%) with an average plant height of 9.22 cm, number of leaves of 14.75 cm, leaf width of 7.77, and fresh weight of 30.13 g.

Abstract

Land-use change, mainly from natural forest to agricultural or settlement area, beside have negative impact on biodiversity also cause a new problem such as the presence of pests. In urban area, the most intrusive and common pest is ant. The objective of this research was to study the occurrence pattern of ants in urban habitat. The research was conducted in several urban habitat in of Palu, Central Sulawesi include of settlement, garden, city park, shrub, agricultural area and forest margin. Ants were observed with bait trap using tuna and sugar. In total, we found 38 ant species from all gradients of urban habitat in Palu. Ant diversity were significantly correlated with habitat condition. Species richness and composition of ants tend to increase with decreasing degree of human disturbance (from settlement to forest margin). The most dominant ant that always found in all urban habitat are Anoplolepis gracilipes, Solenopsis geminata and Paratrechina longicornis. Those species are wellknown as tramp species that co-exist with human and have negative impact to local ant species. Urbanization and anthropological disturbance facilitate the occurrence of tramp ant species in Palu urban habitat.

Abstract

The occurrence of ants in agricultural habitat is related to the availability of food resources as well as environmental condition for its nesting site. As predator, ants play an important role on controlling pest population in agricultural habitat. The objective of this research was to study the diversity of ants in pepper plantation. The research outcome can be used as basic information for cultivation management of pepper. Ecological observation was conducted in four regencies in Lampung Province with two selected plots on each regency. On each plot, ants were sampled using pitfall traps. In total, 28 ant species were recorded from pepper field in four regencies. Two species i.e. Anoplolepis gracilipes and Solenopsis geminataare well-known as tramp and invasive species. There is significantly different of ant species composition among regencies. The occurrence of ants in pepper plantationis probably affected by habitat condition surrounding pepper plantation and precipitation.
