Abstract

This study investigates the profile of critical thinking skills and cultural literacy among students in the Basic Chemistry course at the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Applied Sciences, Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika. In the context of globalization and rapid technological advancements, critical thinking and cultural literacy are crucial competencies for facing the challenges of the 21st century and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Despite the foundational importance of Basic Chemistry in science education, challenges such as conceptual complexity and low student engagement remain prevalent. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, this research involves students from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics Education programs. Instruments used include critical thinking tests and cultural literacy questionnaires measuring understanding of local cultural values and diversity. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews and analyzed descriptively using statistical methods. Findings reveal that students exhibit low levels of critical thinking skills and cultural literacy, with strengths in data interpretation and cultural preservation, while weaknesses are evident in identifying relevant information and cultural promotion. These results highlight the need for innovative instructional models integrating local wisdom into the learning process. The proposed Free Inquiry-Based Etnochemistry Model aims to enhance both critical thinking skills and cultural literacy by contextualizing scientific concepts within local cultural practices, offering a holistic solution to contemporary educational demands.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the application of competency-based human resource management in improving organisational effectiveness in service companies in Indonesia. The research approach used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. The research was conducted in November 2025 and involved purposively selected informants, including organisational leaders, human resource managers, supervisors, and employees. Data analysis was conducted thematically using NVivo software to identify patterns, categories, and central themes related to competency management and organisational effectiveness. The results showed that implementing competency-based HRM significantly improved organisational effectiveness, particularly through precise competency mapping, integrating competencies into recruitment, training, and performance appraisal processes, and increasing productivity and service quality. The findings also revealed that the successful implementation of competency-based HRM was greatly influenced by management commitment and organisational policy support. This research makes theoretical contributions to the development of human resource management studies and practical contributions to service companies by helping them design competency-oriented HR management strategies to improve organisational effectiveness sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the training needs of operational employees at PT Intra Presisi Indonesia through a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) approach that includes organizational analysis, task analysis, and individual analysis. The background of the study is based on the company's training conditions which are still reactive and not yet integrated with long-term human resource development strategies. Data collection was conducted through interviews with management and direct superiors, distribution of questionnaires to operational employees, and review of company documents. The results of the analysis indicate significant competency gaps in the Production, Quality Control, and Maintenance departments. In the Production department, competency gaps were primarily found in the operation of welding robots, die changes, and the application of the 5R principles. In the Quality Control department, the most prominent gaps were in the operation of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), the application of QC 7 Tools, and root cause analysis. Meanwhile, in the Maintenance department, limited cross-system troubleshooting capabilities and the application of Root Cause Analysis were the main problems. Based on these findings, a training program design was prepared based on competency gap priorities as a basis for developing more targeted, effective, and sustainable training to improve the company's operational performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of job fatigue (KK) and employee engagement (K) in mediating the relationship between job stress (SK) and workload (BK) on employee turnover (TK) in a waste paper raw material supplier company. By using the quantitative correlational method, the sample used was 205 respondents, and using the statistical analysis method with smartPLS 3 software. The results found in this study refer to the hypothesis of direct and indirect influence, which there are 12 hypotheses. With the results showing SK has a positive effect on TK with a p-value of 0.032 ≤ 0.05 . BK has a positive effect on TK with a p-value of 0.000 ≤ 0.05 . KK has a positive effect on TK with a p-value of 0.002 ≤ 0.05 , K has no effect on TK with a p-value of 0.099 ≥ 0.05. SK has a positive effect on KK with a p-value of 0.000 ≤ 0.05 , BK has a positive effect on TK with a p-value of 0.008 ≤ 0.05. SK and BK have no effect on K with a p-value of 0.212 & 0.630 ≥ 0.05 . Indirectly SK and BK have a positive effect on TK through KK p-value of 0.008 & 0.024 ≤ 0.05 . And K has no mediating role. In this study, it can be concluded that work stress, workload, and work fatigue have a positive effect on turnover, while engagement has no effect. And work fatigue plays a mediating role in the relationship between increased work stress and workload on employee turnover, and engagement does not find a mediating role.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational culture and work environment conditions on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable, at the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Service in Banten Province. Employee performance is seen as an indicator of individual achievement in carrying out tasks according to their roles and responsibilities within the organization. The approach used is a quantitative method with a population of all employees at the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Service of Serang City, the Agriculture and Food Security Service of Pandeglang Regency, and the Fisheries Service of Serang Regency, totaling 386 people. Of the total population, 230 employees were designated as research samples. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, and the analysis employed statistical methods within a quantitative framework using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The research findings revealed that organizational culture significantly influences employee performance, while the work environment showed no significant direct effect. However, both variables were shown to significantly influence work motivation. Furthermore, organizational culture and the work environment also exert an indirect influence on performance through work motivation. Therefore, work motivation acts as an intervening variable that strengthens the relationship between organizational culture and the work environment and employee performance at the Banten Province Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Service.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of career development strategies and work motivation on employee performance, with organizational commitment serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, involving a population of 500 employees from a state-owned public transportation company. Data were collected from 100 selected respondents using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results showed that career development strategies had a significant positive effect on employee performance, with a coefficient of 0.45, and on organizational commitment, with a coefficient of 0.50. Work motivation also positively influenced performance (coefficient 0.38) and organizational commitment (coefficient 0.42). Furthermore, organizational commitment was found to significantly mediate the influence of career development strategies on performance (coefficient 0.30) and the effect of work motivation on performance (coefficient 0.25). These findings indicate that enhancing career development strategies and work motivation can lead to improved employee performance, particularly through the strengthening of organizational commitment. This study also reinforces previous research highlighting the importance of career development programs and employee motivation in improving performance and fostering employee loyalty to the organization.
