Abstract

Students who are at a higher level such as high school should already have higher knowledge or known as High Order Cognitive Skills (HOCS). Within the scope of education, self-efficacy is very important because it can affect cognitive processes, motivation, actions and student achievement. This study aims to determine the differences in high order cognitive skills and self-efficacy in the experimental and control classes. This research is quantitative through a Quasi-Experimental design with a Non-randomized control group, pretest-posttest design. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 124 students who were divided into two groups, namely the control group and the experimental group. The instrument used to measure HOCS uses multiple choice questions of 40 test questions while self-efficacy is measured using a self-efficacy questionnaire. Data analysis used Ancova at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that there were differences in the increase in high order cognitive skills and there were differences in students' self-efficacy on circulation system material in class XI after implementing scientific-based modules. The conclusion from this study is that scientific-based modules can be applied to improve students' high order cognitive skills and self-efficacy in circulation system material.

Abstract

An important goal of learning system is to deliver instruction that can produce equal or better learning outcomes. To achieve this goal, the number of research has been conducted to address the issue of what antecedent variables can affect the student learning outcomes. One of the methods which can develop student learning outcomes is case method based on flipped classroom. This research was conducted to analyze student learning outcomes using case method based on flipped classroom. This research is the quasi-experimental research with posttest only control group design. There is the control class and the experimental class in this research with a little of case method vs a lot of case method design.  The participants in this study were 82 biology students using the total sampling technique.  Data were analyzed using ANOVA to analyze the student learning outcome using case method based on flipped classroom. The results of study using case method based on flipped classroom has significant effect on student learning outcomes with a significance value of p < 0.05 with F (6.59) = 3.97, p=.012. Thus, it can be concluded that the case method which is combine with flipped classroom gives the positive impact on student learning outcomes

Abstract

Schools should introduce environmental conservation and change awareness centered on local issues, encouraging students to share their insights and perspectives. For this reason, this study aims to determine the effect of applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping on student learning outcomes in environmental conservation lesson. This study used a quasi-experimental design with the Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design consisting of control and experimental classes. The research population was all class X SMA Negeri 3 Banda Aceh students. Furthermore, purposive sampling produced a sample consisting of four classes with a total of 121 students. The learning outcomes data were obtained from the test instrument using 30 multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test with a significance level 0.05. The data analysis results show that applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping has a significant effect on learning outcomes with a significance value of p < 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Thus, applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping positively affects learning outcomes. The results of this study provide information that problem-based learning assisted by mind mapping can be applied to conservation-based lessons.

Abstract

The andragogy approach is learning that directs students to independently solve problems. Students' low solving skills can be seen from the lack of student activity in the learning process resulting in low learning outcomes. The aim of the research is to determine the effect of the andragogy approach on students' problem solving skills in biology learning. The method used is quasi experimental. The research design is a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The research population was biology teachers in class XI and class XI high school students, totaling 239 people. The sample used a purposive sampling technique with a total of 144 students. Data on problem solving skills using case study questions and teacher interviews. Data analysis used the normalized gain test and independent sample t-test. The results of data analysis show that there is a significant difference between the average N-gain with a result of P = 0.001. The teacher's perspective shows that the andragogy approach improves students' problem solving skills. The research conclusion is that there is an influence of the andragogy approach on students' problem solving skills in biology learning.
