Abstract

This study aims to analyze the classification ability in animal biosystematics learning as the basis for making numerical taxonomies in biology education students. The method in this research consists of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Descriptive method is used for qualitative analysis and correlation method for quantitative analysis. The mixed methods strategy uses simultaneous triangulation because both qualitative and quantitative data are collected at the same time, then compared to identify convergence of differences or combinations of data. The number of students was 57 people who were divided into 11 groups. Ability classification is determined based on indicators that refer to science process skills. The classification ability indicator is made into six indicators, where each indicator is broken down into four sub indicators. The results of the analysis show that the classification abilities of the six indicators are: (1) recording each observation separately 89.04%, (2) looking for similarities and differences of 66.23%, (3) contrasting the features of 57.89%, (4) comparing of group characteristics 67.32%, (5) determining the basis for grouping 73.46%, and (6) connecting the results of observations 76.32%. The ability of individuals to make classifications in animal biosystematic learning reached 71.72%, while in groups it was 71.98%. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that the classification ability of participants in animal biosystematic learning is good with the medium category, this can support in making numerical taxonomy.

Abstract

Indonesia is an agricultural country. The majority of the population work as farmers. The use of anorganic fertilizers and pesticides is excellent because the results are instant and easy to use but have a negative impact on the environment. This study aims to compare the production of red hot chili (Capsicum annum L.) with the use of organic fertilizers and anorganic fertilizers using Randomized Block Ddesign (RBD) method. The data obtained was analyzed using statistics with the ANOVA test and Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. The results of statistical tests indicated that there was no significant difference in the use of optimal inorganic fertilizer (25%) with Biosoltamax brand organic fertilizer for red hot chili production. Inorganic fertilizers have an impact on environmental health. anorganic fertilizers produce residues that are harmful to biota and the environment. Inorganic fertilizers are inversely proportional to the use of organic fertilizers which do not leave residues in the environment and do not have a negative impact on environmental health.

Abstract

Indonesia as a mega-biodiversity country has a very diverse diversity of insects. The diversity of these insects has both beneficial and detrimental roles. The beneficial role of insects is that they act as pollinators, predators of pests and regulators of wild plant populations, while the detrimental roles of insects are plant-eating pests and disease vectors in plants. Insects have many habitats, one of which is purple eggplant or solanum melongena. Eggplant is cultivated for consumption and contains many ingredients. This plant is widely cultivated because it contains nutrients consisting of minerals and vitamins such as A, B and C, is low in calories and fat, and contains some protein, fiber and carbohydrates. This research is included in the quantitative descriptive research. This research is located on the agricultural land of PT. BIO, which is located at Jl. Banjar Sari No. 38, Dusun Awisurat, Tanjungsari, Kec. Tanjungsari, Sumedang Regency, West Java and takes place for 2 weeks in November 2022. Insect data collection uses insect nets and data that can be analyzed using relative abundance and Shannon-Wiener diversity index values. The insects found consisted of 6 orders namely Diptera, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Mantodea and Hymenoptera. The six orders consist of 9 families. The eggplant planting area has a Shannon-Wiener diversity index value of 1.8 so that the planting area conditions are close to natural conditions with an index value of > 2. From the findings, insects can be classified into four groups based on their role in eggplant plants. Based on their roles, six pest species, three predator species, one pollinator species and one non-pest species. The abundance of insect species in eggplant planting fields has low criteria except for Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata which is moderate. The level of insect diversity in purple eggplant plantings was moderate, with the species that had the highest abundance being Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata

Abstract

Capsicum annuum (curly red chili) is an important commodity for the community. The addition of chemical pesticides is used by farmers to increase plant disease resistance. The use of chemical pesticides is harmful to the environment and can have long-term effects if consumed. Therefore, biopesticide innovation is needed. Black Soldier Fly (BSF) is an insect that has bacteria and fungi in its gut. Bacteria and fungi found in BSF intestinal isolates can function as antimicrobials for plants. Because of this, in this study investigated the effect of the bacteria and fungi Trichoderma viride in increasing disease resistance in C. annuum plants. There were 4 treatments in this study, namely the administration of chemical fungicides, BSF bacterial formula, T. viride. BSF, and a mixture of bacteria and T. viride BSF. The results obtained were analyzed by calculating the Intensity of Attack (IS) score, microscopic observations in the laboratory, and statistical tests. The IS score of the control plants was 75.0%, the fungicide treatment was 37.5%, the bacterial treatment alone was 33.3%, the T. viride treatment was 19.4%, and the mixed treatment of bacteria and T. viride was 4.2%. All plants were attacked by leaf spot disease by Cercospora sp. Control plants were attacked by Sclerotium rolfsii fungus wilt and powdery mildew by Leveillula taurica and jaundice. Jaundice also attacked plants treated with T. viride only and bacteria only. The normality and homogeneity tests show that the data is not normal and not homogeneous but H1 is acceptable based on the Kruskal Wallis test. The conclusion of this study is that bacteria and T. viride from BSF are able to increase disease resistance in curly chili plants, but are not yet effective in preventing disease caused by Cercospora sp.
