Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on education, especially learning methods that must be carried out online. The online learning method also applies to Architecture and Interior Design students in the planning and design studio lecture activities, which were initially carried out offline in the studio and now have to be carried out online from their respective homes. Various obstacles faced in architectural and interior planning and design studio lectures require students to adapt virtually and digitally. Visually and digitally, there are many limitations, both from using technological devices to the facilities owned by lecturers and students. The study used a qualitative descriptive method, searching for data through questionnaires with the respondents being students of architecture and interior design. The study results found that the adaptation of online lectures is not only a virtual and digital problem but includes physical and non-physical problems. Virtual and digital transformations affect the process and quality of learning outcomes for architectural and interior planning and design studio courses. Physical adaptation requires supporting facilities in the form of tools and equipment to assist studio lectures. Non-physically is an adaptation to changes in time, patterns and methodologies of learning, behaviour, psychology, and the internet network. Behavioural and psychological adaptations and perceptions need more in-depth research in future studies.

Abstract

Threshold space in Cicendo Square is critical in facilitating accessibility and creating the impression of an excellent public open space. By considering entrances, transitions, and building access, threshold space design must consider various considerations, including openness in design, sequences, geometry, topography, distinctive material, and provision of appropriate furniture to improve the quality of open spaces public. Taking a case study of Alun-alun Cicendo (Steel Plaza) in Bandung City as its case study, this research has two objectives. The first is to analyze the role of threshold space as an intermediary space in creating accessibility and spatial impressions in public open spaces. The second is to identify and determine factors in designing an adequate threshold space to improve the quality of public open space. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis and interpretation. Research findings show that the analyzed parameters, namely delimitation, sequence, geometry, topography, materiality, and seating facilities, play an essential role in creating an adequate transitional space in Cicendo Square. In line with the dynamic of the existing functions and activities, these factors also contribute to creating attractive and high-quality public open spaces and increasing interest and public participation in using Cicendo Square.

Abstract

Improved design adjustable desk is related to a table that can be adjusted in position. This table can be used not only in a forward and backward tilted position, but can also be used in left and right side tilted position, so there will be more activities that can be adjusted to the needs and desires of the user. The purpose of this study is to develop a design by providing innovation to the adjustable desk that is already on the market so that the table is more multifunctional when used by users. This study uses an adjustable desk design development method, through data collection from observations, interviews, questionnaires, literature studies, data analysis, and design results. Based on the results of the discussion, it was found that the adjustable desk will add several buffer components to the table for one person with the table surface that can be adjusted according to the user's wishes, in 30o, 45o, 60o, and 90o tilted positions. The tilt position of the table is regulated by a tilt lock to make it easier for users to adjust the position of the table surface by moving the table surface to the desired position. The results of this design development will be a guide for industrial design. Keywords: Improved design, adjustable desk, Multifunction Furniture

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the appropriateness and condition of educational facilities in compliance with Ministerial Regulation No. 24 of 2007, as well as the relationship between these facilities and the curriculum at Integrated Islamic Primary Schools (SDIT) in Bandung, West Java. In this study, nine full-day SDITs were reviewed using a qualitative methodology that included snowball sampling. According to the findings, although the majority of schools are able to meet the infrastructure standards, there are disparities in the conditions of the facilities, such as differences in classroom size, ventilation, and library resources, which show that there is a need for changes. Furthermore, the variety of curricular applications, which can range from national to international systems, has a considerable impact on the spatial organisation of school facilities as well as the functional criteria that must be met. It is necessary to have appropriate infrastructure assistance in order to facilitate the integration of various curricular aspects in order to cultivate an effective learning environment that is respectful of Islamic educational ideals. According to the findings of this study, improving facility standards and bringing them into closer alignment with the requirements of a wide variety of curricula can have a considerable positive impact on educational outcomes.
