Data was collected using interviews, questionnaires, scales, and tests. The data analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative using the T-test. The results of this development research show that the developed Android-based interactive learning multimedia meets the eligibility criteria of "very feasible" with a score of 91 from the material expert and a score of 102 from the media expert, through the results of field trials fulfilling the practicality criteria of "very practical". The t-test analysis results show a significant difference in social studies learning outcomes of students who use Android-based interactive multimedia learning. It was concluded that multimedia based on Android is feasible, practical, and effective for fourth-grade elementary school students' social studies learning.

Abstract

The Understanding by Design (UBD) framework is the preferred instructional model in self-directed learning. The issue addressed in this study pertains to the multitude of disasters occurring in Indonesia, thereby emphasizing the significance of acquiring comprehensive perspectives on disasters and their corresponding management strategies. It remains imperative for students to acquire a comprehensive understanding of disasters and their corresponding management strategies. The research aims to increase students' disaster literacy using the UBD learning model with pop-up book media. The research employed a quantitative methodology. The study population was students from SD N Percobaan in Padang, West Sumatra. A total of 42 students were selected as participants and were divided into two groups: a control class and an experimental class. The outcomes obtained from implementing the UBD model encompass the findings derived from rigorous statistical analysis. The test results indicate a statistically significant impact of the UBD learning model on enhancing students' disaster literacy when combined with pop-up book media. The educator's contribution has yielded practical insights, diverse perspectives, and innovative ideas that enhance the efficacy of utilizing pop-up book media to augment students' disaster literacy. The findings of this study hold significant implications for Indonesia, given its status as a nation characterized by a substantial degree of vulnerability to disasters. The intended outcome is for students to develop improved readiness to respond to disasters and better understand the necessary actions to take during emergencies.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on teaching social studies to primary school students, specifically focusing on its influence on critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. The research used a mixed-methods approach and employed proportional stratified sampling to select participants from five accredited public primary schools in Banyumas, Central Java. Quantitative data was collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' performance before and after implementing PjBL. Additionally, qualitative insights were obtained from semi-structured interviews with teachers to understand their experiences and perceptions of PjBL. The findings demonstrate a statistically significant positive correlation between PjBL implementation and improving students' critical thinking skills and academic performance in social studies. Furthermore, teachers reported increased student engagement and a more profound understanding of social studies concepts. This research contributes to the existing knowledge of PjBL by providing empirical evidence of its effectiveness in primary education, particularly within social studies instruction. The findings offer practical strategies for educators who aim to use PjBL to enhance critical thinking and academic achievement among young learners.

Abstract

Social studies learning in elementary schools often faces challenges because instructional materials tend to be abstract and lack relevance to students’ daily experiences. This condition reduces student engagement and results in suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aimed to analyze and develop contextual social studies teaching materials that enhance student engagement and deepen conceptual understanding at the elementary level. The research employed the ADDIE development model and involved 115 fourth-grade students, two content experts, one media expert, and one instrument expert. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires and analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The findings revealed that the materials were rated as highly valid by content experts (4.28 out of 5) and valid by media experts (3.83 out of 5). Student responses also indicated a very good category with an average of 3.42 out of 4. These results confirm that contextual-based teaching materials are not only valid and effective but also transformative in fostering engagement and cultural appreciation among students. The implications highlight the importance of integrating contextual approaches into the Merdeka Curriculum to provide meaningful learning experiences.
