Abstract

In the Covid-19 outbreak, the teacher should have the performance to be able to deal with the problems, opportunities, and challenges they face during distance learning. A phenomenological qualitative research method was used in this research to explore the identity of the Arabic language teacher at MIN 04 West Kotawaringin represented by their performance in the daily learning process. The data of this study were obtained from the analysis of interviews, observations and documentation. Interviews were conducted with two Arabic language teachers at MIN 04, students and the principal as the informants. The results showed that the teacher's performance could be seen from; the responsibilities in carrying out the task as a representation of their identity as an Arabic teacher who deal the problems and conditions about the learning facilities, enjoyable technique of teaching and learning, adapt to the use of digital-based media, take different learning resources, and take the initiative to use the most accessible and affordable methods. It was in line with the theory of teacher identity by Anne Graham and Renata Phelps that the teacher should be able to overcome the obstacles faced by both problems from students and infrastructure. This research could be a reference so that teachers can represent their performance, not only as a responsibility but also as a teacher's identity. Furthermore, this research hopefully can examine quantitatively regarding the identity of Arabic teacher in Central Kalimantan.

Abstract

This research investigates how the pesantren environment shapes students' motivation and attitudes toward learning English and suggests strategies to improve English education in these institutions. The study employed a qualitative approach, involving eight English language teachers from pesantren schools in Cirebon and nearby regions, selected via a distributed teacher data form. The results highlight that students' motivation and attitudes are significantly influenced by institutional support, well-structured programs, and teacher-student collaboration, rather than whether the pesantren is categorized as modern or semi-modern. Pesantrens that foster immersive English environments and implement clear programs show higher levels of student motivation. Conversely, a lack of structured support contributes to disengagement. This study concludes that robust institutional strategies and collaborative efforts are pivotal for advancing English education in pesantren, offering insights into improving religious-based learning contexts.

This study aims to analyze morphological and syntactic errors in Arabic writing among university students using the Mentimeter application. The findings reveal several dominant grammatical errors, including issues with hamzah qata' and hamzah wasl, idhafah, and gender agreement in numbers (adad and ma'dud). The most frequent error involved the writing of hamzah, highlighting the need for focused instruction. Additional errors in na‘at-man‘ut structures, possessive pronouns, and prepositions reflect the syntactic challenges students face. This study recommends structured grammatical exercises, explicit teaching of qawa

Abstract

Arabic language learning in Indonesia has become an important part of the formal education curriculum at various school levels. However, this learning process is not free from various linguistic problems that hinder its effectiveness. Students often face difficulties in understanding and using Arabic language correctly, which is influenced by differences in linguistic structures and characteristics between Arabic and their mother tongue. These problems include aspects of morphology, syntax, semantics and phonology, which require special attention so that learning Arabic can run more effectively. This research aims to create a concept map of current linguistic problems in Arabic language learning that occur in Indonesia in the 2019-2023 period. Using a systematic literature review method, this research examines various relevant studies and scientific articles in order to identify and analyze linguistic problems that arise in Arabic language learning at primary, middle and high school and even university levels. The results of this research produce a concept map of linguistic problems which are divided into four main areas: morphology, syntax, semantics and phonology. It is hoped that the concept map resulting from this research can become the basis for more effective learning development strategies and can help educators overcome linguistic problems faced in learning Arabic in Indonesia.
