Abstract

Regional head elections (Pilkada) are a crucial moment in Indonesia’s political dynamics, but in 2024, political polarization reached its peak, causing significant impacts on local democracy. This study aims to investigate the phenomenon of political polarization in the 2024 regional elections and analyze its implications for the sustainability of local democracy in Indonesia. Through a mixed approach that combines qualitative and quantitative analysis, this study attempts to understand the root causes of political polarization, measure the level of polarization in different regions, and evaluate the resulting political consequences. Political polarization in the context of the 2024 regional elections reflects the increasing tension between different political parties, especially in terms of ideological conflicts and differences in political views. It is influenced by factors such as national polarization, local political dynamics, and the increased use of social media as a tool to amplify divisive political narratives. The results show that political polarization in the 2024 local elections has far-reaching impacts on local democracy, including decreased public political participation, heightened political tensions, and the risk of social conflict that could potentially undermine political stability. The long-term implications of this political polarization highlight the need for appropriate measures to strengthen local democracy and rebuild public trust in the political process. In this context, efforts to promote inclusive political dialog, improve people’s political literacy, and reduce excessive political tension are crucial to maintaining the health of local democracy in Indonesia. Only with these measures can local democracy develop positively and embody strong and inclusive democratic principles amidst complex political dynamics.

Abstract

Abstract

Ganjuran is a type of music that is a mixture of two types of music, namely Jathilan and Baleganjur music. This assimilation began with an identity polemic between Javanese and Balinese musicality which was felt by most Hindus in Klaten. The polemic turned out to be prolonged, until finally Pemuda Pura Wisnu Sakti offered a solution to blend the two musicalities. In carrying out assimilation, Pemuda Pura Wisnu Sakti apparently carried out musical and socio-cultural negotiations with various elements to find an ideal. Next, to describe the negotiations, Yuniawan’s negotiation strategy theory was used. The method used in this research is qualitative, descriptive analytic in nature. As a result, it was identified that there were musical negotiations which included instruments and playing patterns as well as socio-cultural negotiations which included identity, satisfaction of players and listeners, and suitability of musicality with worship. These results show that music can be used as a tool to maintain identity in a friendly way.

Abstract

Abstract Indonesia has abundant natural resources, one of which is various types of plants. Indonesian people have used plants as traditional medicine since ancient times. At this time, human knowledge in recognizing the types of medicinal plants is decreasing due to humans' limited memory. The wide and varied varieties of medicinal plants make it difficult for the public to identify the types of Indonesian medicinal plants. In this study, the authors identified the types of herbal plants and their properties, especially for herbal plants in Indonesia. The Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method is used in identifying these herbal plants because this method is quite reliable for object recognition. The author uses leaf image data as a data set obtained from Mendeley Data. In addition, the authors also use primary data on herbal plant leaves obtained from the Surabaya herbal village. The first stage is to annotate, label, and equate the dimensions of the images that still need to be the same. In the second stage, the authors conducted pretraining to obtain weights that would be used as input in the transfer learning process using EfficientNetV2 as the basic model. The final step is to validate using test data. This study shows that CNN is successfully used to identify herbal plants Testing using the confusion matrix method for the data set used in this study obtained an average accuracy value of 98%.

Abstract

Abstract

The discipline of Ethnomusicology in Indonesia still has problems related to issues of representation, relevance and contribution to benefit. This paper will discuss how efforts are being made to realize the discipline of Indonesian Ethnomusicology and offer more relevant paths. The discussion is qualitatively based on a general review of the historical setting of the emergence of representation issues in the Ethnomusicology discipline, considering the urgency of the representation issue in the context of Ethnomusicology in Indonesia and trying to read the Indonesian context to be able to offer a more relevant style of discipline. Questioning representation is an important matter in the discipline of Ethnomusicology in Indonesia, but there is work that needs to be done more hastily. Designing scientific disciplines that can help answer socio-political and cultural issues, such as issues of tolerance, radicalism, conflicts between groups, issues of ecology, economy and culture itself will be more able to make ethnomusicology more beneficial.
