Abstract

Horticultural vegetables are one of the commodities that are widely cultivated in the tropics. The information is tried to be applied in the implementation of the Collaborative Social Building Community (KOSABANGSA) 2023 program. The purpose of this kosabangsa program is to determine the level of understanding of farmers on the cultivation system of horticultural vegetables. The method of service in the 2023 Kosabangsa program activities was carried out observatively and kuesioenr sharing conducting direct counseling in Wonopringgo Village, Pekalongan. The results of identifying the impact of this service showed that there was a very significant increase in farmers' understanding (50% increase by farmers) regarding horticultural vegetable cultivation. In addition, there was also an increase in knowledge by farmers about the types of horticultural vegetable commodities. From the original only 22 farmers who understood about horticultural vegetable commodities, after the extension there were 27 farmers who understood. The most noticeable impact is the increase in farmers' understanding of the horticultural vegetable cultivation system on critical agricultural land. This is evidenced from the beginning (before counseling) only 5 farmers who understand, but after counseling increased drastically to 26 farmers. Farmers also feel that this extension activity provides great benefits for them, so this program is very worthy of being developed further. The conclusion from the results of this service is that the majority of farmers in Wonopringgo village really understand the concept of horticultural vegetable cultivation which can be implemented on marginal land with various types of suitable vegetable commodities.

Abstract

Vibrio sp. and plankton are important microorganisms in shrimp pond ecosystems. The research aims to predict the dynamics of Vibrio sp. and plankton abundance in intensive shrimp pond ecosystems based on causal model analysis. The research method used is an ex-pose facto causal design concept with quantitative descriptive data analysis using causal dynamic modeling. The results showed the water quality in the pond has a high correlation, except Vibrio sp. and alkalinity. In the pond ecosystem 24 genus of plankton from 6 classes. Chlorella sp. is the dominant plankton genus with an abundance of 1.00E+05-4.00E+05 cells/ml. Vibrio sp. abundance in ponds ranged from 1.38E+03 - 1.31E+05 CFU/ml. Based on the results of dynamic modelling, the growth pattern of Vibrio sp. lasted for 30 weeks which was divided into 4 growth phases. The conclusion of this study is that Vibrio sp. will dynamically experience a pure growth rate for 30 weeks with details of the initial growth phase (1-7 weeks), logarithmic growth phase (8-14 weeks), exponential phase (15-21 weeks), and growth declination phase (22-30 weeks). The growth phase of Vibrio sp. has a high degree of similarity to the growth pattern of plankton in the pond water ecosystem correlatively. The novelty of this research lies in the discovery of an estimation model for the abundance of Vibrio sp. and plankton during the shrimp farming cycle. This finding can serve as a fundamental reference for farmers to optimize feeding processes and conduct regular siphoning during the peak abundance of Vibrio sp. and plankton.

Abstract

The stable availability of dissolved oxygen in semi-intensive shrimp ponds plays a crucial role in the sustainability of the aquaculture system. The objective of this study is to determine the trend of the dissolved oxygen carrying capacity for waste absorption during shrimp farming in a semi-intensive system. The method used in this research is causal-ex-post facto research with data analysis using dynamic modeling systems. The results show that the water quality parameters tend to be stable, except for organic matter (51.82–115.02 mg/L). The semi-intensive shrimp farming system demonstrates relatively high harvest production, attributed to rapid shrimp growth despite limited feed management, resulting in profitable outcomes. Dynamic modeling reveals that increased biomass correlates with higher waste output, affecting the dissolved oxygen (DO) carrying capacity. Modeling also shows a moderate and fluctuating waste runoff pattern, indicating variable DO consumption. An important finding from this research is that we can control the water's carrying capacity for waste adsorption by determining the ideal cultivation system. The study concludes that DO carrying capacity follows a linear relationship with waste load; as waste increases, oxygen demand rises accordingly to support organic matter decomposition and ecosystem balance. These findings highlight the importance of managing waste to maintain optimal oxygen levels in semi-intensive systems. The conclusions of this research are important to be used as a source for coastal area management studies based on carrying capacity.

Abstract

Silvofishery is an aquaculture concept that is integrated with the mangrove ecosystem. The concept of silvofishery cultivation is an environmental conservation model combined with the use of an integrated fish cultivation model. This silvofishery concept is very good to be developed in coastal waters. The hope is that in the future there will be activities to develop field class programs for silvofishery cultivation with various empowerment topics. The aim of this service is to make efforts to increase understanding and insight for fish farmers in Degayu Village regarding the silvofishery cultivation system which is carried out using the field class concept.  The method used is community empowerment through practical education about silvofishery cultivation. Furthermore, in this practice, an impact analysis was also carried out by distributing participant response questionnaires. Next, the data from the questionnaire was analyzed descriptively. The results of the service showed that there was an increase in the ability and insight of fish farmers regarding silvofishery cultivation techniques by 40%, knowledge about feeding management by 80%, knowledge about water quality management by 40% and ability regarding feeding practices by 30%. This means that this silvofishery cultivation field class activity is very progressive in improving the quality of human resources for fish farmers. This silvofishery cultivation field class activity is also interesting enough to increase interest in aquaculture literacy for fish farmers. This cultivation field class model is highly recommended to always be carried out consistently as a form of knowledge transfer effort between practitioners (academics) and the program beneficiary audience. From this service activity it can be concluded that the service activity has had an impact on increasing understanding and insight for cultivators in the technical fields of silvofishery cultivation, feeding management, water quality management, and comprehensive technical feeding practices.
