Abstract

Silvofishery is an aquaculture concept that is integrated with the mangrove ecosystem. The concept of silvofishery cultivation is an environmental conservation model combined with the use of an integrated fish cultivation model. This silvofishery concept is very good to be developed in coastal waters. The hope is that in the future there will be activities to develop field class programs for silvofishery cultivation with various empowerment topics. The aim of this service is to make efforts to increase understanding and insight for fish farmers in Degayu Village regarding the silvofishery cultivation system which is carried out using the field class concept.  The method used is community empowerment through practical education about silvofishery cultivation. Furthermore, in this practice, an impact analysis was also carried out by distributing participant response questionnaires. Next, the data from the questionnaire was analyzed descriptively. The results of the service showed that there was an increase in the ability and insight of fish farmers regarding silvofishery cultivation techniques by 40%, knowledge about feeding management by 80%, knowledge about water quality management by 40% and ability regarding feeding practices by 30%. This means that this silvofishery cultivation field class activity is very progressive in improving the quality of human resources for fish farmers. This silvofishery cultivation field class activity is also interesting enough to increase interest in aquaculture literacy for fish farmers. This cultivation field class model is highly recommended to always be carried out consistently as a form of knowledge transfer effort between practitioners (academics) and the program beneficiary audience. Abstract

Title: Sustainable Strategy for Management of Fish Resources in Sengkarang River, Pekalongan Regency, Central Java The Sengkarang River is the longest river in Pekalongan waters. Aside from being a natural fish habitat, the Sengkarang River is also used as a buffer for biological ecosystems in the waters of Pekalongan City and Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the fish resources status in the Sengakarang River and efforts to manage them. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with structured data collection to answer the research objectives Based on the water quality conditions, the Sengkarang River water description still has good enough conditions to be used as wild fish habitat. Even though the waters of the Sengkarang River have diverse biodiversity values, exploitation from human activities is felt to threaten the preservation of natural resources there. The problems that exist along the Sengkarang River watershed include pollution of the aquatic environment, closure of river water canals, illegal fishing, land subsidence, and minimal attention from the local community. Apart from that, the existence of fish populations in the Sengkarang River has also begun to decline in recent years due to exploitation of fish resources and water pollution due to contamination of batik and textile waste. In order to keep the biological ecosystem and fish resources in the waters of the Sengkarang River recovering, the following efforts are needed: 1.) development of water reserves, 2.) river rehabilitation, 3.) fish restocking, and 4.) development of a co-management system and strategic related option is an integrated manner.

Abstract

The aim of this research are to assess the feasibility of water and soil quality in silvofishery cultivation areas and to determine the environmental carrying capacity of the cultivation. The methods employed include Water Quality Index (WQI), Soil Quality Index (SQI), carrying capacity, and correlation analysis of parameters. The concentration of COD in the silvofishery pond water ranges from 705.34-749.50 mg.L-1, and the total nitrogen content in the soil ranges from 7-8 mg.L-1. The COD parameter in water shows a strong correlation with dissolved oxygen. The soil type parameter silt is correlated with redox potential, while the clay soil type is correlated with sand soil. The variance in data for water and soil quality variables is considered significant as per cluster analysis. The WQI values range from 0.47-0.85, categorized as poor, good, and excellent. The SQI values range from 0.52-0.77, falling into the good and excellent categories. The carrying capacity of dissolved oxygen ranges from 0.7-1.99 kg.ha-1, indicating that if the DO concentration is below this range, oxygen depletion may occur in the silvofishery pond. The research results indicate that the water and soil quality in the silvofishery pond is still sufficiently suitable for silvofishery activities. The carrying capacity of dissolved oxygen in the silvofishery pond is deemed adequate for operational silvofishery activities, ranging from 14.26-15.87 kg.ha-1. This implies that the silvofishery cultivation system is capable of enhancing aquaculture productivity while minimizing environmental pollution in the surrounding aquatic areas resulting from the waste generated during aquaculture operations.
