Abstract

Background; improving the quality of human resources is a must for the world, especially in the era of globalization which demands the readiness of every nation to compete freely. Method; Analytical descriptive with a cross sectional study design where the researcher made observations or instantaneous variable measurements, meaning that the subject was observed only once and explored simultaneously using a questionnaire measuring instrument. Through population determination, sampling and sampling, data collection, data processing and data analysis. Result; The analysis shows that 28 respondents (84.8%) have good motivation, 1 respondent (3.0%) is moderate, and there is no lack of achievement. Meanwhile, 4 respondents (12.1%) had less motivation to learn. Conclusion; motivation has an important function in learning, because motivation will determine the intensity of the student's learning efforts

Abstract

Sekarang perkembangan teknologi semakin luas dan canggih. Sehingga jarang ditemukan mahasiswa yang tertarik dengan membaca dan menghapal yang lebih tertarik dengan perangkat mereka sendiri. Selain itu, kemajuan di era digitalisasi saat ini banyak memanfaatkan aplikasi AI yang mudah digunakan karena berbagai fitur dan petunjuk penggunaan yang tersedia. Akan tetapi, banyak peserta pelatihan PKM masih menggunakan metode pembelajaran manual yang belum terkomputerisasi atau terdigitalisasi. Akibatnya, pembelajaran menjadi tidak menarik bagi siswa. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk membuat mahaisiswa PPL Universitas Megarezky melek digital agar supaya membantu mahasiswa PPL menggunakan teknologi digital, seperti membuat desain pembelajaran berupa kuis interaktif Bahasa Inggris yang menarik dengan menggunakan wordwall. Metode kegiatan pelatihan berupa memberikan materi pengenalan tentang game edukasi, membahas cara menggunakan Wordwall, melakukan praktik pembuatan, Melakukan observasi untuk mengetahui tingkat keberhasilan dan melakukan simulasi kegiatan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan Wordwall sebagai media edukasi. Menguji tingkat keberhasilan kegiatan PKM melalui lembaran observasi kepada mahasiswa yang berisi informasi tentang tingkat keberhasilan peserta. Berdasarkan dari analisis kepuasan mahasiswa, 90% menyatakan bahwa mahasiswa sebagai peserta PPL merasa tertarik dan puas dengan pelatihan kuis interaktif yang mereka terima dari pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi wordwall. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa wordwall adalah media edukasi yang sangat bermanfaat bagi mahasiswa yang mengikuti PPL di Universitas Megarezky karena dapat meningkatkan kemampuan untuk mengingat dan menyerap informasi lebih baik.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Home care merupakan salah satu pelayanan kesehatan yang dilakukan ditempat tinggal keluarga untuk meningkatkan dan mempertahankan kesehatan keluarga. Tujuan: Pengabdian ini mengetahui pelayanan home care sebagai upaya dalam meningkatkan derajat kesehatan. Metode; Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui metode observasi langsung kepada pasien dirumahnya dengan tahapan; survey awal dan identifikasi kondisi lokasi dan perencanaan tempat pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian. Hasil: Menunjukkan hasil dari pengabdian memberikan dampak positif dan memberikan kontribusi bagi peningkatan kesehatan masyarakat. Kesimpulan: Bahwa pelaksanaan homecare berdampak positif bagi peningkatan kesehatan masyarakat, meningkatkan kesadaran, kemauan, dan kemampuan hidup sehat bagi setiap orang agar terwujud derajat kesehatan masyarakat yang optimal.

Abstract

Communication skills in English are an essential competency for nursing students to face the challenges of globalization and international healthcare services. However, many students still struggle to express themselves confidently in real clinical contexts. This community service program aimed to enhance the communication ability of nursing students through English training using the role-play method. The training was conducted with final-year nursing students at Politeknik Sandi Karsa and applied a participatory approach consisting of lectures, demonstrations, role play simulations, group discussions, and reflective evaluations. Various clinical scenarios were designed, such as explaining medication usage, calming anxious patients, and describing vital sign procedures. The program was implemented over two days, with the first day focusing on interactive material delivery and facilitator demonstrations, while the second day emphasized practical role-play performance with direct feedback. A total of 23 students participated actively in this activity. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ confidence and ability to use English in professional healthcare communication. Participants expressed positive responses toward the method, highlighting that role play reduced speaking anxiety, increased motivation, and fostered readiness for real clinical interactions. The Focus Group Discussion (FGD) confirmed that this method not only improved English proficiency but also enhanced soft skills such as empathy, teamwork, and therapeutic communication. The outcomes suggest that role–play–based English training is an effective strategy to support nursing education and should be integrated regularly into the curriculum to prepare graduates for global healthcare demands

Abstract

This quantitative research study investigates the influence of the video live streaming application 'Ome TV' on students' listening skills. Undergraduate students from a vocational university in Makassar, Indonesia participated in the study, which utilized an online questionnaire to collect data on participants' listening abilities and their experiences with 'Ome TV'. The study aims to investigate the influence of 'Ome TV' on students' listening skills, identify challenges faced by students in using the application for listening practice, understand students' perceptions of the application's effectiveness, and provide recommendations for optimizing the integration of video live streaming applications in language learning environments. The findings reveal that most students perceived an improvement in their listening skills through 'Ome TV'; however, difficulties such as infrequent usage, limited improvement in understanding words with similar sounds, security concerns, and network quality issues were reported. The study concludes with practical recommendations for educators, curriculum designers, and developers to enhance the use of video live streaming applications in language learning settings. These findings contribute to the understanding of the potential benefits and challenges associated with video live streaming applications for improving students' listening proficiency.

Abstract

Keterampilan menulis merupakan keterampilan dasar yang wajib di kuasai guru, namun sering hanya mendapat perhatian terbatas. Lebih lanjut, adanya Merdeka Belajar menuntut guru untuk mengadopsi perubahan sebagai langkah pengembangan profesionalisme guru yang berkelanjutan. Guru wajib untuk di bekali pengetahuan tentang pengembangan profesionalisme, salah satu cara untuk mengembangkan profesionalisme guru adalah melalui pelatihan menulis, guru yang terbiasa menulis mampu menciptakan ruang bagi diri melalui karya-karya dan memberi ide-ide baru untuk dibagikan kepada siswa di kelas. Melihat fakta yang terjadi disekolah mitra, tim pengabdian berinisiatif untuk mengadakan pelatihan menulis sebagai langkah pengembangan profesionalisme guru. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pemaparan materi, praktik menulis dan Focus Group Discussion. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan selama pelatihan menulis, guru merasa terbantu dengan pelatihan ini, respon positif juga tampak dari hasil Focus Group Discussion, mereka bersemangat setelah dibekali dengan pelatihan yang bermanfaat dan ingin melanjutkan latihan menulis secara mandiri.

Abstract

Keselamatan kerja mencakup keselamatan peralatan, tempat kerja, dan lingkungan serta terhindar dari bahaya yang menyebabkan penderitaan, kerusakan, atau kerugian selama berada di lingkungan kerja. Mahasiswa yang akan menjadi calon pelaut harus memiliki pengetahuan keselamatan kerja termasuk masalah keselamatan kerja, termasuk sistem manajemen keselamatan kerja. Untuk mengatasi kesenjangan tersebut, tim pengabdian mencoba untuk mengadakan pelatihan keselamatan kerja untuk membantu mahasiswa dalam penguatan pengetahuan keselamatan kerja. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pemaparan materi, praktik keselamatan kerja dan Focus Group Discussion. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan selama pelatihan keselamatan kerja, memiliki pengetahuan yang memadai terkait potensi dan risiko ketika bekerja diatas kapal, mahasiswa mengetahui bahwa setiap pekerjaan pasti memiliki risiko, dan harus menerima konsekuensi dari risiko tersebut, baik yang menguntungkan maupun yang merugikan, setiap awak kapal harus mengetahui potensi bahaya agar mereka dapat mencegah kecelakaan kerja. Selanjutnya, tim pengabdian menemukan bahwa selama pelatihan mahasiswa menyadari bahwa kelengkapan dan peralatan kerja berarti dalam keselamatan kerja, semakin lengkap peralatan keselamatan kerja yang dimiliki, semakin aman untuk bekerja. Tim pengabdian menyimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan pelatihan keselamatan kerja berjalan dengan baik dan memenuhi tujuan pengabdian.

Abstract

Abstract The study focused on the use of substitution drill technique to improve the students’ mastery of tenses - simple present and past tense - which were most of students still got into trouble in learning them, particularly when to put of verb-s/es, verb 1, verb 2 and also the auxiliary verb such as do, does and did. Therefore, this study is an endeavor to examine efficacy of applying the substitution drill to enhance the junior high-school students’ mastery of tenses. This study applied pre-experimental design employing one group pretest and posttest. The participants consisted of 27 the third-grade students’ SMP Ammana Gappa Makassar, South Sulawesi. The researcher used t-test analysis to find out whether or not the use of substitution drill can improve the students’ mastery of tenses. The result of the study indicated that there were differences between students’ achievement of tenses mastery in pretest and posttest. It was proved by the value of t-test was greater than the value of t-table (22.24>2.056) with the level of significance (P) = 0, 05 and degree of freedom (N-1) = 26. The mean score of the posttest (71.62) was higher than the mean score of pretest (52.44). It may conclude that the implementation of the substitution drill as a teaching technique of tenses in SMP Amanna Gappa could improve the student’s mastery of the tenses.

Abstract

Communicative speaking skill is considered the most essential skill for everyday situations and for a wide range of professions especially in the economic and business sector. The purpose of this research is to improve students speaking skill of UKI Paulus Makassar through the implementation English for Specific Purposes (ESP). This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) namely (1) planning, (2) actions, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. For the purpose of the topic, 35 students were selected as the subject. Research method was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Kemmis and Taggart model. It was conducted for about two cycles namely cycle I and cycle II. According to the results of speaking test, findings showed that the implementation English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in teaching had positive meaningful effect on improving students’ speaking skill after being obtained test results both cycle 1 and cycle II in Economic and Business students of UKI Paulus Makassar

Abstract

One indication of the cause, among others, is not optimal learning planning where the material provided is often not in accordance with the field of science taught by nursing students. Needs analysis is considered to be the cornerstone of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). The concept of Needs analysis has been different along the decades. Nowadays, the tasks of needs analysis is much more complex: it aims at collecting information about the learners and at defining the target situation and environment of studying ESP. This study was conducted in Politeknik Sandi Karsa. The number of students was 36 nursing students. The material offered by the researcher is 16 topics, all of which are responded very positively with the same high rank by all categories of respondents for inclusion as learning material. The results of this study are also expected to be used as a reference material for further research, namely syllabus/RPS planning and development of English teaching materials for nursing students. As conclusion that several important points that can be applied as well as an important reference in compiling English learning materials of Sub-skills in the field of speaking, listening, reading and writing which are ranked the first for each sub skill are: reading; read drawings/work schedules and understand the text, work contract in English at Politeknik Sandi Karsa Makassar Indonesia.
