Abstract

This study aims to develop an effective project-based logo and typography learning model in improving the motivation and understanding of grade VII students at SMP Negeri 3 Guntur, Demak. This study employs a qualitative approach, combining autoethnography and classroom action research (CAR). Autoethnography is used to reflect on the researcher's experience as a teacher, while CAR is used to test and refine the learning model through two cycles of action. Data were collected through observation, teacher reflective journals, learning motivation questionnaires, student work, interviews, and visual documentation. The project-based learning model is designed to enable students to develop visual skills through creative, collaborative, and applicative processes. The results of the study indicate that this model can enhance students' intrinsic motivation, particularly in terms of autonomy, competence, and social connectedness, in line with Self-Determination Theory (Ryan & Deci, 2000). In addition, students' understanding of visual design concepts also increased, as indicated by the quality of the logo and typography projects assessed using an assessment rubric. The researcher's reflection shows that this approach is effective in creating contextual, meaningful, and challenging learning. This study suggests the wider application of this model in schools with similar conditions to strengthen visual skills-based learning.

Abstract

The gap between hopes in developing the Al-Baghdadi studio and the policies made do not yet have equality. In the process of building a studio, it is important to create a strong foundation strategy, two of which are management and the pentahelix. In fact, the founder of the studio still doesn't know the foundation of management and the concept of the penta-helix. Previous research focused on work analysis, while this research focuses on management and the pentahelix. The aim of the research is to examine the scope of management and pentahelix of the Al-Baghdadi studio. The research was carried out in 2 locations, namely the cities of Medan and Deli Serdang. The research took place for 5 months from October-December 2021 then April-May 2023. The method used was qualitative with a case study design, data collection included participant observation, interviews and document searches, as well as data analysis techniques using data triangulation. Results of the study: 1) The Al-Baghdadi calligraphy studio only has 3 of the 8 scopes of management, namely: curriculum management which is limited to teaching with a hidden curriculum, management of students by carrying out field observation activities in competitions, and management of facilities and infrastructure in the form of study rooms as well as acrylic paint; 2) Pentahelix, Al-Baghdadi studio has collaborated on the 4 pillars of Pentahelix which have been successfully recorded, namely: academics since 2021-2023, community since 2023, government from the chairman of IKAPDA in 2019 in the form of appreciation by giving dowries for works of art, and mass media including newspapers in 2017 and television channels in 2018. This has direct implications for the studio leadership to prepare strategic decisions in building the studio, where previously the leadership was still taboo and did not know the situation of the studio. Keywords: Calligraphy, Management, Pentahelix.AbstrakKesenjangan antara harapan dalam menumbuh kembangkan sanggar Al-Baghdadi yang terhadap kebijakan yang dibuat belum memiliki kesetaraan. Abstract

The Clean and Healthy Living Behavior Program (PHBS) is an effort to prevent disease by getting used to clean living and healthy behavior. PHBS is very important to be applied to the entire community, including Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). PMI live overseas, so health is very important. If they get sick, it will create new problems because access to health services is limited, and there is no family who can look after them. The solution offered to partners' problems is socialization regarding clean and healthy living habits, as well as how to get used to clean and healthy behavior. The development of a video about how to get used to living a clean and healthy life aims to increase the capacity of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia to get used to living a clean and healthy life, so that they can prevent disease attacks. The use of videos is intended to make socialization activities more effective. The Indonesian Embassy in Johor Bahru is a service partner, which will assist in bridging the service program that UNNES will carry out for PMI in the Johor Bahru Region. After conducting outreach to PMIs, the next step is to form several groups consisting of several PMIs to ensure the sustainability of the implementation of the PHBS program. The result of this activity is the availability of the PMI group as a forum for sharing and doing joint activities , as well as increasing knowledge and understanding about PHBS.

Abstract

Abstract

Coastal Batik is a traditional artistic expression that thrives in the coastal areas of Indonesia, known for its beauty and resilience of character. The aims of this research are: (1) to examine and describe the special characteristics of Pesisir Batik work produced by batik-making families in Lasem and Tuban; (2) to analyze how various social, economic, and cultural aspects influence the practice of batik in families in Lasem and Tuban; and (3) to investigate the model or pattern of inheritance of batik skills and the Coastal Batik tradition in batik-making families in Lasem and Tuban. This research uses qualitative approach  with a multiple case study research design and an art anthropology approach. Research data were collected using three techniques: observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis employs interactive analysis according to Milles & Huberman's view, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of this research, in the family realm, the inheritance process can be achieved through three methods: (1) conditioning, (2) imitation or modeling, and (3) internalization or learning to cope. This research reveals the complexity of the inheritance of cultural traditions. Cultural, social, and economic factors play a significant role in shaping batik practices in both regions. It also highlights how batik-making families strive to maintain their traditional heritage while adapting to changing times. The implications of this research extend to a deeper understanding of cultural preservation efforts in an ever-changing context, providing valuable insights for cultural preservation in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of gamification features in UI design on UX and user retention in mobile applications. This experimental research compares two user groups (with and without gamification) using questionnaires that assess UX and user retention, with purposive sampling, and data analysis using descriptive techniques, normality tests, and difference tests. The findings reveal that gamification in mobile app UIs significantly enhances UX and user retention. Key gamification features, such as challenges, achievements, leaderboards, interactive feedback, and social integration, positively impact usability, motivation, satisfaction, and user recommendations. Users in the gamified group reported higher ease of use, engagement, and satisfaction, leading to longer retention periods. This study reveals significant findings that integrating gamification elements into application design can enhance user satisfaction and loyalty, as well as encourage further research in the context of mobile application gamification.
