Abstract

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate plant-themed children’s worksheets (LKA) specifically designed to stimulate the physical and motor development of early childhood students. This study addresses the gap in available teaching materials at TKK Kemala Bhayangkari 08 Bajawa, which previously relied on generic, non-contextual resources that were less effective in engaging children's active movement and coordination. Method: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4-D development model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Data were collected through expert validation (media, content, and learning design specialists), teacher interviews, and direct observations. The feasibility of the product was measured using Likert-scale questionnaires, and its effectiveness was evaluated by comparing children's motor skill performance before and after the implementation of the developed LKA. Results: The findings indicate that the plant-themed LKA is highly feasible and effective. The expert validation scores reached an average of 3.38 (good/valid category). The implementation results showed a significant improvement in children's physical-motor abilities, with fine motor skills increasing by 25% and gross motor skills by 29%. Furthermore, the media received high practicality ratings from teachers (95%) and parents (90%), who noted increased student engagement owing to the contextual nature of the plant-based activities. Novelty: This study contributes to early childhood education by providing a context-based LKA that integrates local environmental themes (plants) with specific physical-motor exercises. Unlike standardised worksheets, this developed media bridges the gap between cognitive understanding of nature and physical activity, offering a replicable model for teachers in rural or specific ecological regions to develop localised teaching aids for children.

Abstract

The physical motor skills of children in early childhood education at Tkk Kemala Bhayangkari 08 Bajawa are currently at an alarming level. A reliance on gadgets and a lack of varied physical stimulation result in the majority of children experiencing impaired body coordination and motor dexterity, far below developmental standards. This Community Service (PKM) program aims to reverse this negative trend by implementing a participatory guidance model that integrates the traditional game Wela Maka as a physical motor stimulation tool. Through this participatory approach, teachers and children are directly involved in movement engineering, which requires concentration, balance, and leg muscle strength. The program's implementation results in an impressive performance increase; children's physical coordination and dynamic balance improved by 42% compared to before the intervention. Furthermore, the use of Wela Maka games can stimulate children's natural passion for movement while preserving endangered local cultural assets. This model has proven not only physiologically effective but also increases children's happiness index in learning through structured yet enjoyable movement.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the parenting style of parents in the prevention of stunting in early childhood in Faobata Village and identify various challenges faced in daily parenting practices. Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that not only affects children's physical growth, but also impacts cognitive development and the quality of human resources in the future. Therefore, parenting that includes the fulfillment of nutrition, health and hygiene, and psychosocial stimulation is an important factor in stunting prevention efforts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of five parents who had children identified as stunting and were selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data was collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively through the stages of data reduction, grouping of findings, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that parents have tried to provide food regularly, maintain children's hygiene, and show good emotional attention. However, nutritional variation and balance have not been optimal, health monitoring visits have not been carried out consistently, and developmental stimulation is still spontaneous and unplanned.
