Abstract

The relationship between economic growth and government spending has been extremely ambiguous over the last few years. In this matter, both Wagner and Keynes expressed their views. However, several research with varying results on those hypotheses. The Keynesian hypothesis, Indonesia's Wagner's law, and the relationship between economic growth and government spending were thus all investigated by the researchers in this study. The Granger causality test and the Engle-Granger cointegration test were used in order to determine the direction with which both variables are linked, as well as a longer-term association. The outcome demonstrated that economic growth and government spending do not have a long-term relationship. In contrast, the causality test revealed a one-way correlation between government spending and economic growth, implying that Wagner's law was applicable in Indonesia. Accordingly, the government must reconsider government spending that is perceived to be less efficient in encouraging economic growth, such as subsidy programs and public goods procurement. Additionally, the government ought to consider reducing government spending and expanding private sector participation in economic development given that Wagner's law has been demonstrated to be applicable in Indonesia.

Abstract

Poverty remains a major issue in developing countries, including Indonesia. In 2021, Indonesia’s poverty rate reached 10.14%, or approximately 27.5 million people (BPS). Poverty alleviation is a primary goal within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Two important indicators for measuring poverty are per capita expenditure and average years of schooling, which can aid in formulating policies to reduce poverty. This study analyzes the relationship between average years of schooling and per capita expenditure in 2023 using nonparametric regression methods, specifically kernel and spline regression. The kernel regression analysis yielded an optimal bandwidth of 0.860 and a minimum GCV of 0.574. However, the truncated spline method, with one optimal knot, a minimum GCV of 0.5263514 at the 3rd order, and the smallest MSE of 0.4097892, proved to be more accurate in describing the relationship between the two variables. The study concludes that the truncated spline method is superior in modeling the relationship between per capita expenditure and average years of schooling, providing valuable insights for policy formulation aimed at poverty alleviation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Vibration as a part of the physical work environment that can have an impact on increasing work productivity and health for workers, it is necessary to study the impact of exposure to the human body. The climate room is one of the learning facilities in the Ergonomics and Work System Design Laboratory of the Industrial Engineering Study Program. However, this climate room does not have a vibration simulation yet, so it is necessary to have a vibrating floor design that can simulate vibration as part of the conditions in the work environment. In designing the vibrating floor design, the ergonomics and safety aspects are considered by using the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) method where the requirement attribute is derived from the ENASE aspect. From this research, it was found that the contribution value for each of the required attributes can be determined so that the order of priorities that must be met in the design of the vibrating floor design can be determined. The highest contribution value which shows priority 1 is 3.80 users are comfortable in operating the vibrating floor, in this case the vibrating floor design is based on the user's anthropometric data. For the lowest contribution value, namely 1.42 as priority 9, the vibrating floor treatment process is easy to do so that the target specification for the vibrating floor uses iron and painted plywood. From the design of the vibrating floor based on the attributes of the needs so that it can provide a real vibration simulation like industrial conditions Keywords: Vibration floor, Ergonomic and Safety, Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD).

Abstract

This study investigates the global impact of financial inclusion on food security, with a focus on both developing and developed countries. The study constructs a financial inclusion index using the Sarma method and secondary data sourced from IMF and World Bank databases. System GMM is employed as the estimation method due to its effectiveness in addressing endogeneity issues and its efficient and consistent use of instruments. The analysis reveals that financial inclusion has a positive and statistically significant effect on food security across all research sub-samples. In addition, the study incorporates interaction variables between financial inclusion and the COVID-19 pandemic to explore how the crisis alters the relationship between financial inclusion and food security. The findings indicate that the COVID-19 crisis has globally diminished food security and moderates the impact of financial inclusion on food security. Overall, the study confirms that financial inclusion is a crucial factor in enhancing food security worldwide, with no substantial disparity between developed and developing countries. Nevertheless, the global COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated a capacity to weaken the beneficial effects of financial inclusion on food security.
