Abstract

Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata), a multi-purpose tree species (MPTS), has significant ecological and economic benefits. However, the imbalance between the benefits of this plant and its development is a concern. After reaching 50 years of age, the sugar palm tree can no longer reproduce, necessitating the need for cultivation. The primary challenge in cultivating this plant is its hard seed coat. While acidic ingredients have been used to break seed dormancy, natural ingredients are not commonly utilized. This study employed an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD). The study design included three factors: maturity level (K), soaking solution treatment (B), and soaking time (L). The parameters assessed in this study were maximum growth potential, germination capacity, leaf length, leaf area, number of leaves, stem diameter, stem length, primary root length, number of roots, and apical shoot length. The results indicate that soaking treatment did not significantly affect the parameters, except for root length. The maturity level treatment also did not significantly impact the parameters. However, K2 seeds (uniform yellow) showed better results in all parameters than other maturity levels, and B3 (100% coconut water) was the soaking solution that yielded positive results

Abstract

The Nipah beach forest in Malaka Village is used as a nesting habitat for sea turtles, which are protected and endangered wild animals in Indonesia. In current conditions, the Nipah Beach forest ecosystem is faced with development, economic growth, and the community's high demand for land so the integrity of the turtle habitat in the area is threatened. Analysis of potential changes in wildlife habitat is important to carry out at Nipah Beach, Malaka Village, and is interrelated with efforts to prepare plans and strategies for handling and protecting turtle biodiversity itself. This research aims to 1). Knowing the characteristics of turtle diversity in the Nipah Beach forest area, North Lombok Regency. 2). Changes potential analyzing for Nipah Beach forest ecosystem, North Lombok Regency as a sea turtle habitat. 3). Develop a mitigation plan for changes in the Nipah Beach forest ecosystem, North Lombok Regency as a sea turtle habitat. Measuring sea turtle diversity was carried out using the observation method, while risk analysis of habitat change in this study was carried out using risk analysis techniques using SNI/ISO 31010, and mitigation plans were prepared using the Mitigation Hierarchy. The results obtained were analyzed using risk analysis based on AS/NZS Australian/New Zealand Risk Management Standard 4360 (2004). The conclusions of this research are: 1). Sea turtle diversity on Nipah Beach consists of three species, namely the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Green turtle (Chelonia mydas), and Olive ridley turtle (Lepidochelys Olivacea). The important habitat for turtles on Nipah Beach is at stations 2, 3 and 5. 2). Potential changes to the Nipah Beach forest ecosystem are divided into five degrees of change, from mild to disaster. The highest degree of change occurs if the important nesting habitat of the Hawksbill turtle (Critical Endangered IUCN) is disturbed/lost on a large scale. 3). Abstract

Asian palmyra palm (lontar) fronds are a byproduct generated from the asian palmyra palm plant. To add value to these fronds, they can be converted into activated charcoal. This study aims to determine the properties of activated charcoal derived from asian palmyra palm fronds and the effects of activation temperature and chemical concentration on these properties. The activation process was conducted using H3PO4 solution with two concentration variations, 10% and 20%, for 24 hours, and three temperature variations, 600°C, 700°C, and 800°C, each for 60 minutes. The data obtained were analyzed using R software version 4.3.1. The effects of the variation factors in H3PO4 concentration and activation temperature on the yield and characteristics of the activated charcoal were calculated using two-way ANOVA with a 95% confidence level. The properties of the activated charcoal produced met the SNI 06-3730-1995 standard for technical activated charcoal, with yield, moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, and iodine adsorption values of 80.41%, 0.42%, 9.35%, 8.28%, 82.38%, and 668.13 mg/g, respectively. The best properties of activated charcoal were obtained from the activation treatment at 600°C and 20% H3PO4 concentration

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis serta menganalisis tingkat keanekaragaman, kemerataan, kesamaan, dominansi dan pengukuran morfometri amfibi (Ordo Anura) di Taman Wisata Alam Danau Rawa Taliwang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode (VES) Visual Encounter Survey (Heyer et al., 1994). Pengamatan dilakukan pada malam hari dengan tiga kali pengulangan pada masing-masing jalur. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada pukul 19.00-23.00 WITA (Yani, 2015). Analisis menggunakan indeks keanekaragaman jenis, indeks kemerataan jenis, indeks kesamaan jenis, dan indeks dominansi jenis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat 4 famili Anura di Taman Wisata Alam Danau Rawa Taliwang yang terdiri dari 5 jenis yaitu Duttaphrynus melanostictus, Fejervarya cancrivora, Fejervarya limnocharis¸ Kaloula baleata, Polypedates leucomystax. Berdasarkan analisis data jalur permukiman dan hutan sekunder memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman jenis sedang, sedangkan jalur persawahan dan perkebunan memiliki tingkat keanekaragaman jenis rendah. Tingkat kemerataan jenis di seluruh jalur berada dalam kategori stabil. Tingkat kesamaan jenis tertinggi ada pada jalur permukiman dan hutan sekunder. Jenis Fejervarya cancrivora merupakan jenis dengan dominasi tertinggi di setiap jalur. Hasil pengukuran morfometri menujukkan panjang badan terbesar terdapat pada jenis Duttaphrynus melanostictus dengan rata-rata 70,50 mm, lebar kepala terbesar pada Duttaphrynus melanostictus dengan rata-rata 24,95 mm, panjang kepala terbesar pada Duttaphrynus melanostictu dengan rata-rata 21,64 mm, panjang kaki depan terbesar Polypedates leucomystax dengan rata-rata 41,00 mm, panjang kaki belakang tebesar pada Polypedates leucomystax dengan rata-rata 108,00 mm, diameter mata terbesar pada Duttaphrynus melanostictus dengan rata-rata 5,59 mm dan jarak internal orbit terbesar pada Polypedates leucomystax dengan rata-rata 6,50 mm

Abstract

Penyuluhan kepada masyarakat di pesisir Pantai Nipah mengenai dampak negatif pencahayaan buatan terhadap penyu menjadi langkah strategis dalam upaya konservasi. Penyuluhan ini tidak hanya bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi ekologis masyarakat, tetapi juga mendorong perubahan perilaku dalam penggunaan pencahayaan yang lebih bijak dan ramah lingkungan. Pencemaran cahaya didefinisikan sebagai kehadiran cahaya buatan yang berlebihan atau tidak tepat sasaran yang mengganggu ritme alami lingkungan. Banyak masyarakat yang belum familiar dengan istilah polusi cahaya dan juga dampaknya sehingga kegiatan pengabdian ini perlu dilakukan, dengan tujuan memberikan penyuluhan kepada masyarakat mengenai dampak yang dapat ditimbulkan oleh cahaya buatan yang berlebihan di pantai bagi penyu, diikuti dengan kampanye mitigasi pengurangan risiko polusi cahaya. Metode kegiatan meliputi: persiapan, penyuluhan menggunakan metode FGD dan pembuatan media interpretasi. Kesimpulan kegiatan: 1. Melalui penyuluhan interaktif dan diskusi kelompok terarah, khalayak sasaran memperoleh pemahaman baru mengenai konsep polusi cahaya yang sebelumnya belum banyak dikenal. kegiatan ini juga berperan penting dalam menanamkan kesadaran kritis bahwa penggunaan pencahayaan di kawasan pesisir tidak hanya berkaitan dengan kebutuhan manusia, tetapi juga berdampak signifikan terhadap siklus hidup penyu, 2. Peningkatan pemahaman ini terlihat dari hasil evaluasi, di mana mayoritas peserta menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman lebih dari 80%, yang dikategorikan sangat baik.
