Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) in reducing academic stress levels in PGSD students. This research uses a quasi-experimental quantitative approach with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects in this study consisted of 6 PGSD students who had moderate-severe levels of academic stress. Then the subjects were divided into 2 groups, namely 3 subjects in the experimental group and 3 subjects in the control group. The measuring instrument used in this study is the Student Life Stress Inventory (SLSI) scale developed by Gadzella (1991). The training module is based on the theoretical reference of Donald Meichenbaum (1979 & 1985) and research on Stress Inoculation Training by Suryanto and Alfian (2020). Hypothesis analysis using the Mann-Whitney test technique with the help of the SPSS 26.0 application for windows. The results of the analysis showed that after being given Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) in the experimental group, there was a significant difference in scores between the experimental group and the control group with a value of Z = -1.964 and p = 0.05. Thus, it can be said that there is an effectiveness of Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) to reduce academic stress in PGSD students.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of local wisdom and Islamic psychology in nurturing love and tolerance at Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School, Lamongan, Indonesia. The research aims to analyze how Sunan Drajat’s noble values are applied in the pesantren context to shape students’ character. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Despite extensive research on Islamic education and tolerance, few studies have explored how local wisdom traditions within pesantren function as a framework for Islamic psychology and character formation. This study fills that gap by showing how Sunan Drajat’s teachings are internalized through tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul), qalb salim (sound heart), and ihsan (spiritual excellence), fostering compassion and tolerance among students. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of Islamic psychological theory with indigenous pedagogical practices, positioning pesantren as a living laboratory for spiritual and social development. The findings reveal that this model strengthens psychological well-being, promotes inclusive spirituality, and contributes to global harmony through education grounded in local wisdom.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the transformational leadership model of Kiai based on Islamic psychology in enhancing teachers’ performance at Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School. The leadership of Kiai has unique characteristics that emphasize not only administrative aspects but also spiritual, moral, and psychological dimensions. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving Kiai, teachers, and school administrators. Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that the transformational leadership model of Kiai in Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School is manifested through four key dimensions: exemplary character (idealized influence), spiritual motivation (inspirational motivation), Islamic value-based intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration grounded in akhlaq (moral conduct). The integration of Islamic psychological values such as sincerity (ikhlas), patience (sabr), trustworthiness (amanah), and reliance on God (tawakkul) forms the emotional bond between Kiai and teachers. This model effectively enhances teachers’ performance by improving intrinsic motivation, loyalty, and psychological well-being. The study recommends the implementation of Islamic psychology-based leadership training for educational leaders in Islamic institutions.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) encounter emotional challenges such as adaptation stress, academic pressure, peer conflict, and withdrawal within structured religious environments. In this context, counselors function as spiritual mentors and facilitators of emotional regulation. Objective: This study examines how psychospiritual mechanisms are constructed in pesantren counseling practices and formulates a Psychospiritual Emotion Regulation Model (PERM). Method: A qualitative case study was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Sunan Drajat involving five counselors and ten santri who had experienced emotional difficulties. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and were analyzed using thematic and analytic model construction procedures. Results: Findings indicate that emotional triggers activated two interconnected regulatory processes: cognitive reappraisal facilitated through structured counseling techniques and spiritually mediated meaning reconstruction grounded in practices such as taubah, sabr, and muhasabah. These processes operated reciprocally within the institutional ecology, contributing to behavioral adjustment, enhanced emotional awareness, and internalized spiritual meaning. Conclusion: The proposed PERM conceptualizes emotion regulation as a dual psychospiritual process embedded in a moral-educational context. Derived from a single-case qualitative inquiry, the model offers a contextually grounded specification of emotion regulation theory for faith-based counseling settings.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of stress and depression in modern society poses a serious challenge to mental health, particularly amid the complexity of social pressure and rapid lifestyle changes. In this context, Islamic spirituality offers a coping dimension that is not only psychological but also transcendental, grounded in values of iman (faith), sabr (patience), shukr (gratitude), and tawakkal (trust in God). This study aims to examine the role of Islamic spirituality as an adaptive coping mechanism for stress and depression using a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data were collected through a literature review and in-depth interviews with individuals who regularly engage in spiritual practices such as dzikrullah (remembrance of God), night prayer (qiyam al-layl), and Qur’anic recitation. The findings reveal that Islamic spirituality significantly enhances self-acceptance, gratitude, and inner peace, thereby fostering emotional resilience and reducing psychological distress. These spiritual values help individuals reinterpret life’s pressures positively and maintain mental balance through faith-based awareness. The study further contributes to the development of Islamic Counseling Practice by providing an evidence-based framework for integrating spiritual coping techniques, such as dzikrullah, sabr, and tawakkal, into therapeutic interventions aimed at strengthening Muslim clients’ mental well-being.
